  1. Really good, and as others have said in such a short space of time.
  2. Not good, not unexpected, but I suppose it does have more than a tad of common sense about it.
  3. You finally got it back Rog! Well done, you’ve mentioned many times how much you wanted that one back, very pleased for you.
  4. Cheers Dan, not doing anything at moment, have a project where me & some mates meet up (prior to lockdown) once a fortnight to play classic rock but it’s not a gigging band, more a social get together.
  5. It was Knock Off, I left at the end of last year sadly.
  6. My 2015 black/black/maple US Fender Precision, no contest. Recorded our last 3 albums on it (two of which were voted 22nd best of the year albums in the punk genre in the years they were released) did my first few Rebellion Festivals and first few European tours with it. Too much sentimental value attached to it to ever move it on. I love all of my basses but that one also plays the best so aside from sentiment it’s my best bass as well.
  7. Not exactly but on a tour I did in ‘91, on the first gig of the tour we pulled up in Barnsley and the driver asked for directions to the venue. And was told “I’m not sure where that is, I’ve never been to Bradford”. Well they are both in the North, and both start with B so he was on the right track...
  8. Or Ashdown, just started their range which got pretty decent reviews in Bass Guitar Mag a couple of issues back.
  9. It must be more secure than those sites that the US have in Eastern Europe that are “off book”!
  10. The Aerodynes are good basses, nice and light and easy to play necks - Japanese Fenders seem to have great necks for some reason. Personal preference I`d go for a non-export model as they have flush-mounted jack sockets rather than Strat-style ones, and fretboard markers.
  11. Re Herrick pickups, not sure which one I have but it’s more scooped sounding and higher powered than my Custom Shop 62s, essentially more modern sounding (but nowhere near like the SD Quarterpounder).
  12. Agree, on one gig where I recklessly took only one of my 6 basses it had a problem with the electrics, leaving me having to borrow one. Lesson learned, take a backup to gigs.
  13. I find if someone were to ask me how so and so song went that we played years ago I might struggle, but if I were to play along with it muscle memory would come to my aid.
  14. I went through the swapping to hi-mass bridges a few years back, and although not massively different I felt that the mids were somehow slightly subdued and both top and bottom end made a tad sharper, so making the sound slightly more modern. And my overall thoughts were I preferred the sound with the BBOT bridges, so they went back in and I sold the hi-mass ones.
  15. I paired an ABM600 with a Barefaced Big Twin 2 and it worked very well, however I found I preferred the more baked in sound of the Ashdown ABM cabs to the relatively clean/flat Barefaced.
  16. Was going to say this one, heard it on the radio earlier today, beautiful solo.
  17. Herrick pickups, sound great and Martin is also on here.
  18. I often find myself with these thoughts Crawford, you’re not alone in this. I just rationalise it as playing bass is my hobby, and given that I neither drink nor smoke, well I may as well spend my spare cash on my hobby. When I drank I’d spend more in a year than what my whole instrument collection has cost me, so I don’t look at it as wasted money.
  19. Well I’m not in a gigging band at present but the question I really don’t miss from gigs is “do you reckon we’ll be home by 4 or 5am”.
  20. There`s a good few that I regret parting with, none that it really hurts but my Mex Strat that I had from 1995 til about 2015 - I sold it cos I wanted to play solely bass for my band and not get distracted by any other instruments, looking back I had it for 20 odd years, didn`t need the money so should have kept hold of it. I also regret moving on my Gibson Les Paul Studio, it was a great guitar but again, moved it on when I joined a band and wanted more basses - more than I needed for the band. Should have been disciplined but never been my strong point. And my Gibson Les Paul Bass, and my MIJ Fender 51 Precision Reissue, would be nice to have kept them.
  21. Yep, was a great venue, saw many great bands there, Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers and Stranglers to name a few. Only got to play there once, it was a local Bandsearch competition. We knew we were rubbish so sent in someone else’s tape and got to the final. Which was very punk rock of us. They changed the rules of the competition after that.
  22. Good advice, been really tempted by that myself.
  23. I’d say the best Precisions under a grand are the US Standard 2012-16 range, however they have a chunker of a neck in them so not good for everyone.
  24. The ones on my TB sound very similar to the Fender Custom Shop 62s that are on my US Standard.
