  1. I dunno about the tonnes of fish but I reckon the bass solo threat will have him folding in seconds.
  2. I do similar, bought some ribbed matting from either the bay or the zon and glued it to the of one of my cabs, including spray adhesive cost less than £15 to get the job done and I had enough to do about 5 or 6 cabs.
  3. One thing which I don’t know if anyone has considered, UK bands, certainly on some scenes pack in crowds in some EU countries where bands from that country might not. As such if those countries care about live music they might assist in this. After all it increases revenue for venues/businesses, gives their own bands an opportunity to play to the larger crowds generated and keeps live music going in their countries. Most of the venues we played in Germany had posters all over the place of past/future gigs and probably 80/85% of the headliners were UK acts. I can’t see Germany not wanting that to continue.
  4. If they were to make these in black I’d be all over them, but those two colours, well nah.
  5. Yes, that’s what the politicians would have been able to do, but my question is more, in that case once the politicians had approved something was the petition to parliament option still available if people disagreed with it
  6. Either the matching Ampeg or the standalone Ashdown 410 would be my thoughts.
  7. Genuine question here (as I don’t know the answer): As I understand it at present Brexit has brought in regulations that mean Brit musicians/performers can’t tour with freedom of movement in the EU and EU nationals can’t do similar in the UK. As such there’s a petition and once it reaches a certain number of signatures it has to be heard in parliament. My question is, if we were still in the EU and a law/regulation was brought in by the EU that similarly found disfavour in the UK, would the practice of petition/parliament still have been open to us?
  8. Agree, very good point, it’s something that affects some on here, rehashing the previous locked thread is unlikely to help.
  9. That is a good point Paul, in terms of cost a couple struck me as very good at the price such as Korean Squiers and the Fender Player range. If we move away from Fender the Vintage Tony Butler Precision is a cracking instrument.
  10. There’s what looks to be a nice one at Bassdirect at the moment. The MIJs do seem to have a consistency and the necks are very comfortable/playable.
  11. I think the S1 was up to 2006. The high mass bridges came in in 2008 and have been there ever since so a small gap between the two.
  12. I’ve got too many of those already!!
  13. On paper I think they look really good, and have been tempted myself, but am reluctant to go “5” until I need to.
  14. I’d recommend getting a used US one. Depending on preference for neck size: 2008-12 - not too chunky (quite modern sounding pickups) 2013-16 - chunky (and has Custom Shop 62 pickups) 2017 onwards - these are based on the 1963 which is apparently the holy grail of P-Bass necks, and they are really nice, not too chunky (pickups quite modern sounding)
  15. One thing to be mindful of if touring in the EU, don’t take sandwiches as in the news today EU border controls are confiscating them from lorry drivers.
  16. I just read about that, and given Sid & Nancy, have similar misgivings.
  17. Yes that’s right, if plugging in two cabs each will get the same amount of power, however, in the case of a 1000 watt amp and a 410 & 115, each cab will get 500 watts but in the case of the 410 each speaker gets 125 watts whereas the 115 speaker gets all 500 (if running on full power of course). So it’s possible to overpower the 115, especially as in most cases that’s the cab on the floor whereas the 410 on top of it is more audible. Given how loud the Terrors are it’s unlikely you’d ever be anywhere near full power but it’s something to be mindful of. The theory is two of the same cab works the best rather than mixing speaker sizes.

    Dink?

A very good point, and certainly one that applied to me until only very recently 🤣
  19. Just installed a Seymour Duncan Quarterpounder and KiOgon Loom (and a new set of Elixir steel rounds) into my Fender US Professional Precision. As I’m playing Classic Rock at the moment I wanted to make the bass more “rock” and having had QPs before - albeit 10 years ago - I thought this would be a good move. And it is, they’re voiced just as I remembered, though I had forgotten just how much low-end they have! A quick run through playing along to YouTube and I’m one happy bunny. Just can’t wait until I can use the bass at rehearsal.
  20. Yep, doubling up on a cab that you like is indeed a grin-inducing move.
  21. One of the best voices ever, effortless and so natural sounding.
  22. Yeah, The Members weren’t up to much when I saw them.
  23. I find them both pretty good at light settings (no more than 10 o’clock). The drive adds a nice bit of fur to the sound, with extra sizzle and harmonics, and the compression smooths and evens it all up a tad. Like this they both add to the sound but without significantly changing it. Also, as @BassBunny mentioned above, there are ABM users on the RM thread (I’m one of them) and the RM amps favour very well amongst us.
  24. It doesn’t just happen to bassists. At a punk festival last year an ex England football captain was trying to get backstage - he had the right pass and everything - but one of the security guys wouldn’t let him through and had to radio through for guidance, didn’t recognise him at all.
  25. Pretty much like my old band then, our record company was in Germany and we had started to do a lot more work over there.
