That’s a smart looking rig

I found Markbass to sound fairly “meh” isolated but in the mix they sound great. I bought my old set up as every time I heard a covers band in pubs where the bassist had a good tone it seemed to be a Markbass rig. So when I got it and set it all up at home I was a bit disappointed, but once I got to rehearsal I realised where its strengths were. I generally had the VPF on full though.

I’d forgotten about Skidmarks and Spencer’s by Trigger McPoopshute, brings back fond memories of gigging with them

From what I’ve read the 63 has a lot more in the lows and not so many highs in comparison. I’ve got the 62s and the blurb on the box indicates that they’re a tad scooped but I don’t hear that, to me they’re quite large in the low-mids.

TC Polytune or Unitune. I’ve had a few clip-on tuners and aside from the TC ones none were any good at tuning an E string in a gig environment, whereas the TCs have no problems at all on this. And due to the design you can have the tuner on the back of the headstock so the audience only see the clip part on the front.

Agree, a bit like those isolated bass tracks we hear where the bass sounds fairly “meh” on its own but really warm/big/fat in the mix.

Yes at home volumes no issues. What I would do as a routine though is before use turn the volume and - if it has this - input gain fully off to protect against unfortunate incidents such as the volume knob having been knocked all the way up. Last thing you want happening is switching on and hitting that first note to find amp is on max/cab surrendering.

Blue for me, with tort of course, red with white (although Arsenal colours) us a bit too Shadows.

Fender US Standard Precision. Although I have my faves amongst them any US Standard just works for me.

For gigging as my tuner is on the pedalboard it’s floor. At home everything on to of the amp for easy adjustments.

I remember being rather exited by Death Magnetic til I got it but after a few listens just decided it was ok at best.

I always thought that the (continual) backing vox on Sid Sings brought more than a touch of the absurd.

Well received my copy of The Last Resorts Skinhead Anthems Vol IV on Thursday and have to say it’s a contender.
