  1. For gigging as my tuner is on the pedalboard it’s floor. At home everything on to of the amp for easy adjustments.
  2. I remember being rather exited by Death Magnetic til I got it but after a few listens just decided it was ok at best.
  3. I always thought that the (continual) backing vox on Sid Sings brought more than a touch of the absurd.
  4. Well received my copy of The Last Resorts Skinhead Anthems Vol IV on Thursday and have to say it’s a contender.
  5. Beautiful bass, many congrats
  6. It’s all part of the act/parody of the stereotypical northern hard-man/lad image of the 80s, luckily he and the band are nothing like that off stage.
  7. I was the same, my style/dynamics were dig in all the time for every song, so compression largely didn’t help. But since I started playing with a lighter touch I have found compression to be more useful though in all honesty I still prefer it without.
  8. Having had 70s Precisions and US Professional 1 basses, although both were good I’d rate the 2013-16 US Standards as better.
  9. Great bass and even better that it stops that dusty end malarkey 😂
  10. Use the shite sandwich approach: You’re looking great tonight (good) I bought a new bass today (bad) You deserve a night out, beautiful (good)
  11. Yes a few times, first was at The Greyhound in Fulham, 30 Dec 1985 (was driving hence being the only one I actually remember when).
  12. Probably something simple but best get it to Ashdown HQ for diagnosis
  13. I used to love Wrathchild, Stakk Attack!
  14. I’m in two bands, one which doesn’t gig cos all we do is rehearse once a fortnight (haven’t even got a singer) and the other band maybe gigs 10/15 times a year, and only rehearses for new material or when necessary. Much more easy to deal with than my last band which both rehearsed and gigged pretty much every week, with the gigs being very far-flung.
  15. Apparently it`s the nearest in sound to an 810 cab that Ampeg make, that to me is good enough endorsement.
  16. A true classic, great song/album.
  17. Some people use the word to denote slave, not colour. A mate of mine used to work in antiques and his Spanish boss was always using the N word for his staff, and every single one of them was white.
  18. Yeah we played with Filf at Amsterdam Rebellion and agree, much better now Muttleys back on vox doing what he does best.
  19. Yeah on a serious mode although I could carry my ABM410 & 210 they were getting a little bit too much - if I lived in a ground floor flat I`d probably have kept the 410 as it was on wheels so easy to shift about. But permanent back injury and heading towards 60 (plus a healthy amount of GAS) meant a changeover was required.
  20. I love the “all my gear in one trip from the car” statement. I’m so knackered I have to carry my plectrums in single trips 😠
  21. Yeah that’s a good shout. John is a mate of mines brother. In all the years I’ve known my mate (nearly 40) I’ve never met him though.
  22. At Rebellion a few years back when they played it was probably the most packed I’ve seen The Empress stage. They still pull good crowds wherever they play.
  23. Quite, when we were recording our last album we wanted to get done to a timescale and a days mixing opportunity came up earlier than expected on a Sunday. But as we were gigging both the Fri & Sat before I said no we shouldn’t do it as our ears wouldn’t be in the best shape after that, as well as overall tiredness of two gigs in a row at distance.
  24. I’ve liked the Anti Nowhere League & Macc Lads since the 80s, been fortunate enough to play gigs with them and meet them. For me the Macc Lads were parodying the stereotypical northern “lad” of the time, not many got it sadly. The Anti Nowhere League imo were probably a bit nearer their outlaw image & lifestyle. K$$t & The Gang, again I’ve gigged with him/met him, decent chap and I find his material hilarious.
  25. I used Ampeg PF500, Markbass LM3, Aguilar Tonehammer & AG500, and Ashdown ABM600. Given the flat/uncoloured response of the BF cabs imo they pair really well with amps like these which have a warmer sound.
