  1. It’s likely a good few are going to get cancelled, sadly. I’ve my first gig with the new band in late January but way things are going….
  2. Late 90s US Precision would be string-thru body as well
  3. I’ve recently bought another Precision and it’s come with D’Addario Chromes on it, 45-100s. I’ve had them on other Precisions and found them a tad muddy but they’re just not on this bass. I think this might be due to the pickups, the new bass doesn’t have my usual Custom Shop 62s which do seem to have a lot of chunky low-mids. Anyway I’m finding that I really like them, at home practicing they sit really nicely when playing along to YouTube but of course it’s with the band that counts, if they cut it I’ll be keeping them as I find I really enjoy playing them.
  4. There’s probably still some under it!
  5. For a generic, hard wearing and very protective case the Hiscox ones are difficult to beat, plus not too expensive either.
  6. Same here, not particularly expensive but I find them to be of good quality and supple enough to not cause irritating shapes on the stage.
  7. For years I was chasing a sound and could get near but not quite there. And then I bought a Precision and it all fell into place. Given all my fave players played them I really should have got there earlier but better late than never.
  8. I’m fairly sure a Basschatter had a 32” scale maruszczyk Jake at a bass bash a few years back, and it was a very nice bass indeed.
  9. Interested in industry standards for different genres, some aspects may change for individuals but let’s try and keep to the general set ups. I’ll start off with Punk/Oi: Fender Precision Steel Roundwound Strings Sansamp Bass Driver Ampeg SVT
  10. Nice one, I loved mine when I had it, the valve just seems to add “great” to the sound for want of a better way to describe it.
  11. Great post @Doddy, really spot on.
  12. Does this pedal only run on a PSU or does it take batteries as well?
  13. Wow!! Can only imagine how good that must sound (and how much it must weigh).
  14. Bought a really nice US Precision from Gunnar. As above great comms and a nice & easy transaction all round.
  15. Some excellent basses there Nick
  16. Some great basses there, plus a great looking Peavey rig too!
  17. I feel for you, after a few fruitless attempts at excuse me I adapt and just walk into said ignoramae with said cabs, I find they then learn quickly.
  18. Some seriously good gear at very good prices there, the TSL amps are incredibly versatile, if I were playing guitar in a band again the TSL would be my choice.
  19. Ska/Northern Soul, but however it’s labelled I’d look at the ska circuit as that style of music will no doubt get the punters up on their feet.
  20. I’m itching to try mine out, I’ve been really lazy and just been using the rehearsal room cabs but now I’m back in a gigging band I need to try my full set up out. Next rehearsal methinks.
  21. Especially with a Precision
  22. Nice one Si, I remember your previous topic re this bass, glad you’re finally reunited.
  23. In my last band I had a very specific sound that with many amps I wouldn`t have been able to achieve, as such I needed my Para Driver and required cables for every gig. Not a difficult set-up but needed for the sound of the band. Lesson learned, in my current band I have a generic Precision sound, just scoop the low mids a tad and boost the highs. I`m sure it will make gigging a bit easier being less fussy about having the exact sound. But whatever I use the playing generally sounds like "me".
  24. The guys in Booze & Glory use (or used) the Shure, said it was great, plus integral tuner makes things just that little bit easier too.
  25. Maybe next time you play it do an announcement, here’s the rubbish song where you can go to the bar or have a cigarette outside.
