  1. In my formative years I was heavily into my rock and metal.... and widdling guitarists. Now, although I still enjoy some of those acts and guitarists, my tastes have not so much changed as 'widened'. I'm still mainly into classic rock music (late 70's/early 80's pomp rock, mid 70's boogie/southern rock and classic US midwestern and melodic/AOR) but I now listen to lots of Steely Dan, John Miles, early Chicago, Kayak etc and most recently have been purchasing a lot of original (Sneaker/David Roberts etc) and new 'Yacht Rock' (Young Gun Silver Fox/Dawn Patrol/State Cows), Power Pop and original soul/RnB/Motown/Disco etc I still can't abide rap/hip-hop/modern r'n'b/grime etc and don't see that changing anytime soon.
  2. I have this LPB Squier 40th too..... got it in the Thomann Black Friday sale! Excellent bass - can't find any issues with it at all. Looks fabulous, plays great and sounds decent, if a little bright.... but then that's what the tone knob is for
  3. I had no issues with mine. Though I have swapped out the Aguilars for EMGs and BTS circuit as I'm not a fan of Barts or Aguilars in Spectors...
  4. This fantastic new 'Yacht Rock' act..... hints of classic late 70's West Coast Doobies, RnB & soul with smooth NY Steely Dan style jazz grooves. Love it!
  5. A pack of these for me to try. Already put them on a Spector..... and they sound fantastic!
  6. Just rec'd a set of KZ ZS10 Pro IEMs and noticed on the badly translated instructions sonething about 'burning them in'. Is this really necessary and how long should I play music for from my MP3 player?
  7. Stunning colour 💙
  8. So who is lucky enough to have a NYE gig this year? I hate NYE (overhyped nonsense) so am happy to be playing for other people and getting paid for it.... I'll be at The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne with The CoStars. What are you guys & gals doing?
  9. None! Well, apart from maybe the plum Spector ReBop.....
  10. You forgot to add a random 'quote'!
  11. Pretty good idea. There's only so many 'random quotes to make himself try to look clever' and 'egotistical posturing' anyone can take....
  12. Or, in my case, have so many that a new one appearing can be passed ff with "oh, THAT old thing?! Had that ages. It's been stored away in a case and I thought I'd get it out for a play....."
  13. Yeah, sorry about that chaps! lol!
  14. Bought another rock biog type book from Mickey. Splendid transaction as always Recommended!
  15. Damn, that will have tripled in value since then....
  16. £2k. The laws of diminishing returns, value for money, costs of parts/labour etc mean that I realistically can't see any bass being worth any more than that. I've certainly never played a new £2k+ bass any better than a sub £2k bass.
  17. I'll take the Rush book please. Will PM.
  18. You joined up here and raised a 4 yr old thread from the dead just to have a pop at someone you don't know? Wow...
  19. Bought some old Schaller pins from Alain. Great comms and just as described. Cheers!
  20. I have a few shipping boxes available for anyone who needs them! Come and collect
  21. I've played one extensively and enjoyed the feel and sound....... but the 'look'..... urghhhh.....
  22. Picked up a lake placid blue one with gold hardware and blocks last week in the Thomann Black Friday sale for £280 delivered (inc all taxes etc)! Fantastic bass, looks awesome and plays/sounds fantastic. A wonderful addition to the collection. Makes me want a black one now!
  23. It's amazing what 'giving your basses away for free' to multiple new endorsees will do for a brand's visibility
