Alembic - show us your pics

To be fair, the 'new top' also looks awful. -
I bought my very first Spector from Mark this week and it arrived this morning. It was absolute pleasure dealing with him and I thoroughly recommend him as a seller. Thanks again Mark. Hope to deal with you again soon 🤘

Basschat offers exclusive discount for EU shipping
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to ped's topic in Site News
I bought a bass the other day from a seller on BC and I arranged the shipping through Eurosender. It’s the first time I’ve done it this way round. All the seller had to do was box it, which he was more than happy to do. The bass was collected on schedule yesterday morning and has just been delivered to me 24hrs later. Nil damage. That’s four successful deliveries in a couple of months. I accept I had a little hiccup with the first one, but once I was aware of the post code thing, it’s been plain sailing. It occurs to me that although the Basschat discount has been minimal each time, I’ve always received Express Delivery for the Standard Delivery price. £30 delivery with enhanced insurance with a 24 hour turnaround. I’m quite happy with that. I know it’s only as good as the service when something goes wrong, but I’m 4 for 4 now and will use them again. -
NOBD (New Old Bass Day): Modulus Flea
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Beedster's topic in Bass Guitars
There's a lovely black 5'er on Bass Market Place UK at the moment. Some bloke berated the seller for the price. Seemed fairly reasonable to me at €3000 given that it's been a case queen. -

It’s a long list, but yes, you two are at the top 😎 -

I think the idea of this is, has the bass in the first post passed through your hands at any time. If not, suggest someone who may have owned it (or has form for it 😂). -

I would properly get my ear bent by our singer if I turned up at an 80’s gig without The Purple One. She’s loves it. -

The 'Show us your Limelight!' thread
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to wateroftyne's topic in Gear Gallery
I will definitely be ordering another one this year. After the truss rod went on my Flea ‘61 Jazz bass, I replaced it with a Status neck. Sometime later 🙄, Fender did actually supply me with a replacement Flea neck, so I’ve had this knocking about for a while. I’ve had a couple of ideas around what to do with it, but the more Limelight’s I see the more ideas keep popping into my head 😀. -
Yes, it wasn’t until I bought my second bass (decades ago) that I realised that it was the saddles on my first bass that were the issue regarding string breakages and not me. But as I said, strings breaks are not my real worry.
-
I must admit, I’ve not had a string break on me for years and if that was all that could go wrong, I might agree. I have had a wire disconnect from an input jack and a nut snap though. Not so easy to fix when you’re halfway through a set at a festival. If you’re happy to take the risk, good luck to you sir.

Not wishing to kick off the old 'you should take a spare bass to every gig' argument again, but if you're in a gigging band, you should have something to fall back on if the unexpected occurs. I really cannot get my head around why, if you have the means, you wouldn't do that (if you're in a gigging band).

An amplifier that needs little introduction. Lightweight, powerful and reliable. Designed by those clever Finnish chaps over in Helsinki, this amp head also includes the celebrated Darkglass pedal effects of 'Vintage Microtubes' and the 'B3K'. In excellent condition and comes complete in it's original box with candy. Also, present is the intelligent foot switch which allows muting and changing between effects. All the geeky numbers and blurb can be found here. Price includes insured shipping to a UK address.

Basschat offers exclusive discount for EU shipping
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to ped's topic in Site News
That is not exclusive to the UK. I've had some complete nonsense addresses from most recently from Italy, but France and elsewhere as well. You could argue that it only needs to be name/number/street/post code. City will self designate with an accurate post code. -

The song's pants but the bassline's a cracker
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Barking Spiders's topic in General Discussion
It doesn’t help that the header of the thread is the opposite of what you would like it’s content to be. ’The songs pants’ is a statement which is probably even stronger than ‘songs I hate’. ’The songs pants’ according to who exactly? Not wishing to start an argument, but if you start off with a statement like that, it’s gonna go downhill rapidly. -

I appreciate your frustration, but it doesn't actually help that much if you don't share the details.
