ChangesTwoBowie (hiram.k.hackenbacker)
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in Live photos & videos
This has been a bit of a challenge for me over the past week or so. We recorded a few tracks in the studio a little while back with the intention of using them to make up an EPK for 2020. One thing lead to another and before we knew it gigs were cancelled and there was little to no prospect of getting anything booked for the foreseeable future. So we thought we would use one of the tracks to dedicate a thank you to all the NHS and Front Line Responders out there helping to keep everyone safe. I've put a few videos together for the band before, but this was a really steep learning curve for me. All the individual elements were recorded at our respective houses using different equipment/frame rates etc and I don't mind telling you, it took a bit of time to get my head around it. It's not perfect (these things never are), but I think it turned out OK in the end. Please feel free to share it with anyone out there putting themselves on the line as a huge thank you. Stay safe.- 81 replies

Congratulations. I have the HH version in that colour. Lovely basses. Enjoy. -

Those Warwick Sig's look gorgeous, but at nearly €10k, they're a bit steep for me. -

Yes, it kind of forces you to be less aggressive in your attack of the strings, which is not bad thing really. -

The one I had collected yesterday at 4.25pm arrived at 10.05 this morning. They just get quicker and quicker. It makes me wonder how fast their Express Service is 😂 -

Just to be clear, the issue I had was that I did leave a gap in the postcodes on my first booking with Eurosender. Once that was amended, everything seemed to work OK. As a result, I booked a second shipment (no gaps in post codes) and that was delivered in less than 24 hours. When I booked the third one, which went today, I made an error in the booking process. I contacted Eurosender via Live Chat and they sorted it immediately. Having spoken to them via telephone twice regarding the first shipment, I highly recommend using Live Chat rather than phoning them. Aside from the collection issues @AndyTravis, have any shipments gone astray? As we all know, that's the real test, when something goes missing. I hope none of us have to endure that process. Stay safe everyone. -

When Do You Think Your Band Will Start Gigging Again ?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
That's handy, 'cos we're not f*****g selling it on Basschat as AFAIK. This is not the common cold/flu or anything like it. I know a couple of fit and healthy people that have gone down with this and they very nearly didn't make it back. Your flippant comment is insensitive to those that have lost acquaintances, at the very least. -

Well, there’s safe and there’s safe. If you want proper safe, you’ll be waiting for a vaccine which will be a while off. -

Yes, I had heard that the entertainment/leisure industries will be the last to open. Doesn’t bode well for gigs in 2020. -

Funny you should mention that. My one will also be having blue luminlay side dots. I've not had them before, so looking forward to seeing how they are. -
Wenge or Maple Neck
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to hiram.k.hackenbacker's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for your input guys. It's nice to have it confirmed that wenge does have characteristics that set it apart from maple. That's pretty much it in a nutshell Dave 👍 -
Thanks Kev. That is generally what I thought regarding the custom build/wait time. For a bass that is going to cost what it does, the wait time shouldn't really come into it. Your thoughts regarding wenge are much appreciated 👍

I created a topic in General Discussion as well, but I’ll paste it here to copy those who follow Dingwall: I’ve put a deposit down on a Dingwall. I opted for a Wenge neck to go with the Wenge fingerboard rather than the maple neck. I think it would look better with a Wenge neck and I’m also led to believe it would have a more compressed/grindy sound compared to the Maple which I’m just fine with. It appears that if I commit to the Wenge neck it will push delivery towards the end of 2020 and if I revert back to Maple (which I could have blacked out anyway) then it would bring delivery forward significantly. I have to admit that the Wenge neck was an afterthought, but once I had considered the option, I really fancied it. I’ve not had the opportunity to play a Dingwall with a Wenge neck so I’m now wondering what I should do. I’m not in any rush to get the bass, I’m just wondering other than the difference in look, would the wait be worth it?

I’ve just completed my second sale using Eurosender (via DPD). I removed the gap in the post code this time (😜) and it has arrived at its destination (UK to UK) in record time (less than 24 hours). Happy buyer & happy seller, albeit suffering slightly from sellers remorse. -
Can’t share pictures as it hasn’t been built yet. It’s blue and it’s got 5 strings 😜

2020 Gear Abstinence thread.....
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassfan's topic in General Discussion
I’ve just dumped myself unceremoniously out of the 2020 challenge with a deposit now down in a new Dingwall. In fairness to myself, I have sold three basses this year, so I think it was inevitable 😎 -
I’ve just realised I’ve dumped myself out of the GAS Challenge 2020 😬

I might have accidentally put deposit down on another Dingwall 😎.
