Thanks Paul. Good to know all the hard work paid off. Really weird start to the Queen set. Apparently there were no monitors switched on which is why no one apart from me was aware that the keys had started playing 🙄. Other than that, I thought we smashed it 🤘

I’ve just been informed that The Last Resort has now raised in excess of £30,000 for charity over the years it has been going. I have to say I’m feeling incredibly proud of what we have achieved.

We were in the studio on Sunday to do some recording for a new EPK. We also had some new photo’s taken. I would highly recommend Clarissa Debenham Photography if you are considering having some professional photo’s done. We have worked with her many time’s and she is consistently excellent in every way. Here is an outtake from Sunday’s session. Love these guys....

Her father died a little while ago. I think he would have been very proud of this new chapter of her life.

Some of you maybe already be aware of Kate, but her new album ‘Trophy’ came out the other day and I can’t stop playing it. For those that may not have picked up on her, she has a bit of a complicated musical backstory which I’m sure you can Google if you’re so inclined. She came to my notice through the Postmodern Jukebox with a cover of All About That Bass in which she sings and played double bass (check out the solo).... Bizarrely, this enormously popular video sadly became her undoing for a while. She became contractually entangled with a label who wanted to market her as seen in that video and would not budge on anything else. She had so much else to offer and ultimately it was their loss. Now free of any obligations, she has produced her first proper solo album and it’s a gem as far as I’m concerned. Here are a couple of tracks.... Kate and her band are over here in January. As fate would have it, she plays Islington, London on Jan 25th, the same day I’m in Islington watching The Aristocrats! We will be travelling to Brighton the following day to see her there instead.

I do have a wig courtesy of @martthebass, but it appears not everyone is ‘fully committed’ to the wig concept as I first was. I have been in contact with the owner of the pink shirt JD wore on the day who sent me some detailed images of it’s design. I researched getting the shirt recreated, but it wasn’t half as easy as I thought it was going to be, so have had to set that aside. I’m aware that the bass itself is an extravagance given the nature of the gig, but I’m so glad I had it made as it’s an absolute belter plus I finally have a P bass that I actually like.

That was over two weeks ago and I’ve lost nearly a stone in 5 weeks, so I don’t think I can be caused of not trying 😉

This was brought up the other day and it all revolves around cost. If we can encourage someone to do it for free, then yes. What will probably happen is a static camera will be set up next to the desk at the rear and we’ll use that. In fact, I’ll take my camera, so at least we’ll have something.

So, gig day for this little venture is now just 4 weeks away and we started rehearsals about two weeks ago. Unknown to me at the time, the keys player shot a cheeky video of our first run through of Hammer To Fall on his phone which was propped up against the side of the PA. The performance was far from perfect, but it gives a good idea of what a thunderous beast the 'Deacy P' bass is. I absolutely love it.
