  1. Ha ha. Yes, I bet there are a few of us that have done the little hop on/hop off the scales dance. 'Tis now a thing of the past. This beauty weighs up to 50kg.
  2. Ours max out at a little less than that. On the odd occasion I've been caught in the act by Mrs.H weighing something for eBay, £7.59 became an acceptable alternative.
  3. Not that many Basschatter's move any of their instruments on that often 🙄, but on the rare occasion a new For Sale thread appears, the question of weight rears it's ugly head with alarming regularity. I have just purchased this for £7.59 through Amazon (along with at least £12.41 worth of other assorted ephemera in order to qualify for free shipping ) and it is rather spiffing - and accurate. It does ounces, grams, pounds and kilos and has a nice soft noose for hanging a bass from the headstock. Just thought I would share. Here is the product link.
  4. Here's one from our most recent outing to a new (for us) venue in Brentwood, Essex. There was only one place I could put the camera unfortunately, but we did take sound from the desk, so at least we've been able to mix it properly, which kinda makes up for it a bit.
  5. Does anyone’s band use liv.live for getting gigs, or have you used them in the past? Any experiences good or bad would be useful.
  6. Yes, I wouldn’t have stretched that far, but £330 for £615 worth of kit seemed like a good deal to me. It does make you wonder what improvement there can be in their top of the line £3,500.00 sets though. I don’t think I’ll ever get to find out 😀
  7. So, my old headphones finally went kaput. To be fair, they had served me very well over many years, but I was more than a little disappointed when the headband snapped as I was quite attached to them. They were light, comfortable and sounded quite good - or so I thought. I then set about looking for a new set. I use headphones quite a lot listening to music on the desktop and also for mixing audio for videos, so I wanted something fairly decent. I stumbled across a review for a particular make which I thought were a bit overpriced for headphones, but other similarly positive reviews drew me further in. So much so, that I kind of justified in my mind buying a set of the MKIII version, even though the price point was £300+. On the off chance, I thought I would look on eBay and see if I could shave a bit off that price. I managed to find the set pictured, which are the MKVI’s and retail at £550, for the same price as the MKIII’s. The bonus was the seller was close to me and agreed we could meet up so I could try them first. They also came with the 3m extension (£65 apparently). Anyway, I picked them up yesterday. I must admit, I always thought this hi-if geek stuff was a bit Emperor’s New Clothes. I now stand corrected. These headphones are unbelievably articulate. I’m hearing music that I’ve listened to thousands of times through various systems in a whole new light. I’m just dumbfounded at how good they are. This is them. Final Audio Sonorous VI. If you’re looking for a new pair, the Sonorous range starts about £260. I can’t recommend them highly enough.
  8. Another theatre gig at the weekend just gone. We recorded audio from the desk at this one so will be able to mix it properly before editing it to the video from the Zoom. Only one camera for this gig unfortunately, positioned stage left. We also employed a pro photographer as it was the first gig with our new keys player and we wanted some decent up to date photo's.
  9. We never get bored with playing these two. Quite fortunate really as they are kind of expected to be in the set at every gig.
  10. No backing tracks. All 100% live. The guy I’m speaking with has played all of the songs before in an 80’s band. He has all the gear required, including a sequencer. He’s quite looking forward to using it again for ‘Rio’. Point taken regarding Electric Dreams. I shall have myself shot later 🤪
  11. Update - as a result of @Silvia Bluejay's suggestion regarding the UK Dep Musicians's Group on FB I have now found and spoken with a guy that seems to fit the bill for us. Just trying to arrange rehearsal dates now. I'm a bit hopeless with social media at the best of times and Twitter still baffles me, so thanks for the steer Silvia and to everyone else who commented. It's very much appreciated.
  12. Well, the neck was sent on it's way yesterday. It's going to be interesting to see what they make of it. I have no high expectations of a quick turnaround, that's if UPS don't lose it 😀
  13. No, sorry. We’ve been doing it for so long and the keyboard position has been stable since day one, so nothing written down I’m afraid.
  14. Ian was gigging with us last night. He cannot do the dates we need him for unfortunately.
  15. Apologies to all for posting in General Discussion, but more people will see this here and I’ve already tried a thread in Musicians Wanted to no avail. There must be a few other bass players in 80’s bands here, so I’m hoping you might be able to assist. The situation is now critical with my band ‘Total 80’s’. Our keys player has emigrated and we have three outstanding Agency gigs that we cannot cover. In all likelihood we will have to cancel them if we don’t find a keys player that can cover them. That will be a shame as it’s a really fun set and great people to play with. The dates are: Nov 9th @ Penistone Paramount, Sheffield Nov 16th @ Hartlepool Nov 17th @ Bedworth Theatre, Bedford - these last two will be an overnight job due to distance. The set list is shown below. I think they are all in the original key and for the most part are very similar in structure as well. These are decent paying gigs and at least one rehearsal will be required which will be in Rayleigh, Essex. Please Basschat, spread the word to anyone you might know that could handle these gigs. Regards, Warren.
  16. The initial feedback from Fender wasn't great to be honest, however, since my sense of humour failure, they have apologised and are arranging to have the neck collected (by UPS of all people 🙄) so that they can examine it. They have said once they confirm the neck is a write off, they will send me a replacement (neck).
  17. I see a flaw in the plan. Attempt to get 1000+ online at the same time has 312 views. Mmm.
  18. 39,321 registered Basschatters and the most we've had online since the conversion is 986? We can do better than 2.5% can't we? Let's set a time and date, a window of 5 minutes on a Sunday perhaps, and smash that figure well north of four figures. Just for the hell of it 😀
