1. I need to make room and raise funds for some incoming so here is an Overwater/Tanglewood Modern J 4 string. Colour is blue although this doesn't really come through in the pics. Great Modern Jazz bass - nice neck, nice inlays, a very good pre-amp circuit (one of the best parts of the bass), decent hardware and you even get a nice flamed finish on the body. I've already fed back to Lawrence that I really think they're onto something here. I do already have a jazz and the only reason that this one is in the departure lounge is that I prefer the single coil sound which this does not have. This said the bridge pickup sound in particular I think is killer on these basses. [s]Looking for what I paid for it which I think was £350[/s] PRICEDROP TO £300 - a total giveaway bargin style good deal! I'm also including a tribal planet hardshell gigbag plus shipping to mainland UK. WOW!!! Any questions let me know..... Update 28/12 - withdrawn as MM up for sale instead. Surprised this didn't go but actually quite happy to be keeping it! Cheers Andy
2. If I'm honest I'm not quite sure what this is. I picked the bass up a few years ago as part of a deal having no knowledge of it's pedigree, at the time I thought it might be good due to a set-up and fingerboard shoot in the bass gallery plus the kent armstrong pickups and electronics. It is a great bass although I have to confess that I'm not really a fretless player so it's never go a lot of use with me. The action is low and it plays well, tonally it sounds like a bass from the 80s which, to look at it, is what I guess it might be. The circuit is passive but quite flexible. I don't have a spec to confirm exactly how it works but I think there are two volumes, two tones and a coil tap for each pickup, finally a 3 way pickup selector. Although I find it a bit unconventional to use it does actually work quite well on the odd gig when I've had chance to explore it. Currently strung E-C but I'll throw in a B string if required. The bass is quite heavy but balances well. It's also quite big due to the shape and fairly large headstock. I didn't pay much for this so I'm passing it on cheap. If you know more than me and recognise that this is worth significantly more then feel free to let me know or make me a better offer!!! If you want it shipped then no problem but that's extra however I will throw in a gig bag to the listed price. Hardcase is extra. 3. Tom - I'll also be keeping my fingers crossed that you get it up tonight. There's more to life than just bass after all Joking aside I think this used to be my amp in which case I can confirm that there's some great tone to be had here. Sorry to hear that it didn't work out for you Ben. Ye olde ampegly bumpage for ye....
4. I had a benevente SCD7 from Brian a few years back. Absolutely agree, outstanding basses and a great guy to deal with. I can't conceive what kind of application I would give this kind of instrument. What kind of music are you using it for yybass? BTW - what's the tuning?
5. These are great basses, I've got the blue version which might have to go soon for the same reason but I'll be sorry to see it leave. Excellent start point for a decent modern jazz bass. I really think you'll struggle to get something that has a decent neck, board, the blocks (which are really attractive if that's you thing), the flame and a pretty damn decent pre for this amount of £$JPYEUR. Bump you up 'bor
6. This is an amazing bass, personally I need a headstock but this could almost turn me. I bet it sounds great when it's not being played by someone rubbish like that Hardien Feraud chap......
7. Hi, A fair bit of interest in this already but all needing it shipped. I will ship it if you like but it might take me a week or so to get it sorted, if you're okay with this then get in touch! Cheers Andy
8. All change on the cabs front and I won't be needing this. That said, it's a fantastic cab for small applications. I've owned it from new and used it extensively for double bass and for v.small gigs or rehearsals. Superb sound and rated at 8ohms 250W but the 1x10 speaker will not be demolishing any buildings. The best thing about this cab though is the size and weight. Very tiny and weighs next to nothing (pic three is me lifting it with my little finger and I'm not Arnold Schwartzeneggereggereggerer). Very quick and convenient indeed. Price wise from what I can make out these are about $500 new so c£300. It's a series 1 UL so a few years old, well used with a few fluffy bits on the covering but in very good condition. I'm asking £150 as 1) this seems like a fair price 2) any less than this and it's worth more to keep around for contingencies. I'd really rather not post it as I don't have any materials on hand and am quite busy for the next couple of months. Cab is in Norwich along with PG tips and a warm welcome. Cheers Andy
9. You could fly over and slot the cab into the luggage rack on the way back mate. Oh no, hold on, you probably can't do that ! Anyway, yes it's an amazing cab for the right person and I hope a great deal too. Thanks mate. Bump as now updated to sale only, I'm now sorted for a replacement for this thanks to the perfect gent who is Dood.
10. Bit of an hokey cokey with this, up then withdrawn now up again..... Fantastic cab but even with the assistance of a sackbarrow it's still too much for me. Despite the amazing sound I'm going to have to admit defeat. It's only had light use and will have seen about 20 gigs with me but the end of next month, I'm asking £580 which is exactly what I paid for it and I think a bit of a steal. Spec wise it's 4 ohms, 900 gazzillion watts and 3.5 metric tonnes. Cab comes with the Mesa slip cover which is a bit tatty but still usable. It's done it's job well as the cab itself is in excellent condition. More pics to follow once I get some time to move the beast during the day. Here is one for now from a recent outdoor radio event: And here's some more; with the cover on Due to the size and weight it will need to be collection from Norwich. I can drive to meet within reason if you cover my costs. Shipping is an option but it will take time and be costly, collection would be much better. Rgds, Andy
11. Hi mate and welcome to basschat. I'm still fairly new myself but the normal way to get in touch is to use the message facility if not via the threads like this. My plan is to keep hold of this cab for now but always open minded on sales/trades etc. Best regards Andy

13. I love this but now get what I need valve-wise from my amp, so in the interests of reclaiming some board real estate it's on it's way to another BCer! I'm sure you can read loads on the site about these pedals, essentially a really great valve drive pedal. Goes from nicely warming or vintaging to out and out filth machine. Has a boost function as well which is to be used with caution - lots of gain. Nice blue backlight to the valve to show when it's on. This is a plain silver one with the usual DH marker pen scrawl on it, some of which is faded but still readable no probs. Really needs it's own power supply, which I'm including, or you can get a bit of noise with it. I bought this from horrowshowbass and have nicked his original pic as it's much better than the ones I took - pedal is in identical condition though. Asking what I paid for it which is pretty reasonable, always open to trades as well for any interesting noisemakers...... Cheers, Andy
14. Yup, way out east.... Naarrich A meet closish is always possible if you cover my costs...
15. Pics added: ..to the top
16. Only recently acquired this cab and I've realised that whilst it sounds tremendous it is simply too much for me to transport. I'm at the point where I'm still happy to schlepp it around as it sounds so great but I can see me using it less and less due to the logistical challenge it represents. The Boogie site list it at 134lbs but due to the dimensions and solidity (it's built like a tank that has been built out of indestructible space metal) it's really difficult for me to move. Once tipped back on the wheels no problem, but as I'm sure most of you know this is not the full story and A-B is often strewn with hazards like stairs and gravel..... Anyhow, long story short I'd like to replace it with something a bit more manageable that still cuts it for me tone and volume wise. Straight sale is £580 which is precisely what I paid for it. No offers as I think this is already a crazy steal giveaway cutmyownthroat price. Open to trades and ideally I'm after something modular so pair of decent 2x12 or 2x10 perhaps? Could do a mix of cab and cash my way or yours as well..... The cab is the varient with the metal silver grill and comes with the mesa slip cover. I'd rate the cab at 8/10 condition wise and the cover 5/10. Just a few dinks in the tolex and the normal wear on the skid rails etc. One caster is very slightly loose but all functions fine. Overall A1 for a used cab. Here are some piccies: Sound wise amazing. Clean hifi with plenty of punch and weight to the sound. Keeps up a treat with my Aguilar, the only place you'll get more headroom is to go outside.
17. Geoff, I used to have an A5 which worked really well as an 'acoustic electric'. Mine was fretless and gave up some very nice round tones when played up from the bridge. It also had the midi system fitted although I found this less useful as there was a fair bit of lag. Some old story, sold it now I miss it. No idea how it compares to other options but I'd certainly recommend the A5. Happy hunting, Andy
