  1. Why do you have problems with your tone? The EQ on both channels looks perfect to me on that picture! I bet it sounds awesome like that.
  2. Regarding the Orange, i believe that it's a valve amp (havent checked), and like other valve amps will allow the choice of impedance so it may safely work on the correct impedance for the cabs hooked up to it. Lots of valve amps have had this option for a long time, so it has nothing to do with this new design of class-D power amp module that puts out 800W in 4 or 2 ohms.
  3. Heaven: playing 70's funky bass lines! Hell: playing "With or Without You" bass line...
  4. Yep! Spent a few years faffing around with my old TE amp trying to get find a tone that in the end was just a flat setting with a bit of HPF. Thank god for the class-D boom!
  5. The impedance switch for 2Ohms operation is a relatively new thing (in class-D amps, not valve ones), from what i've seen Fender is the first one to make a combo with this feature, using probably the same 800W poweramp module as the rest of other manufacturers out there. The examples i've given before (Mesa and Genzler) only sell the head as a unit. If Fender is going to release a Stage 800 head in the future i bet they'll be changing the description on the switch.
  6. And this speaks a lot about the thread's topic. MB gear may not be seen with the same eyes as some years ago but there's still a lot of market for them. They didn't got worse with time, other things were designed in the meantime and now there's a bit more choice for everybody.
  7. Nothing cheaper can beat my current rig for my desired tone straight out of the box (TRB5PII/STL-9.2/BF-S12T) but i've tried other bits of gear, way more expensive, that didn't sound half as good a my setup (for my taste) so i can say i own the cheapest rig possible for my tone
  8. If you're moving on to something that gives you your desired tone then sell it! Sell the damned thing! But if you like that tone there's nothing wrong in keeping it regardless of what people write on forums. Like you said in a previous post, if people don't know what they're doing when turning knobs they can make the best piece of kit sound like crap (let's see if the forum auto-correct lets this one pass...)
  9. Probably but i think that these days builders are going more for the "detachable amp head" thing so the only have to build one type of amp. In those, the impedances can't take in to account the combo version because the amps cam be used separatly with other cabs. I remember my old Trace Elliot combo having something written on it saying 8Ohms min for the ext. cab but the head wasn't detachable. I'm not familiar with these new Rumble lineup but i would bet that the combo version doesn't have a detachable head an that the head unit will have a diferent writting on the switch.
  10. I would love to get my hands on one of these but my Shuttle 9.2 refuses to miss a beat and handles every gig i throw at it with volume to spare so i'll have to wait a bit more for one.
  11. I never liked the MB cabs tone, the mids are all wrong (for my taste) and they sound like they caught a cold and have a clogged nose, IMO. The amps aren't too bad but the only one i trully liked to hear through different cabs was the F1. Build quality is (at least was back when they were made in Italy) top notch and made to last.
  12. You could add the dummy load box, the amp would then give you even less output (as with one 8Ohm speaker it will put out a bit more than half the power, with one speaker and a dummy load it would split the ouptput in two, given the same resistance) but there is a plus with doing this, you could have the dummy load designed as a base plate so you could stand on it during gigs and have your feet heated by the heat dissipation. Great for those outdoor winter gigs
  13. It's just a diferent way to do the same thing other builders are doing. As an example, the Mesa D800, or the Genzeler Magellan 800: The amp is designed to have two separte operation modes, here you can chose betwen using it at 8/4Ohms or adding more cabs to make it go down to 2Ohms (2.6Ohms on the Magellan). The Rumble is the exact same thing - the amp itself can be driven either at 8/4Ohms or at 2.6Ohms - but being a combo and having an internal 8Ohm driver the developers decided to change the writting on the ext. speaker connector so it wouldn't confuse the user as to wich cabs can be added (IMO they made it more confusing instead). In the end it's exactly the same thing.
  14. Is that office so small that you can't divide it in half and each uses their designated space? Just don't remeber you have to practise when she's working there... even with headphones!
  15. There's no right or wrong way to do this, it will depend of every singular individual/musician. I would say you can try to have some control over the end resilt of a new band if you follow some pointers: - Look for musicians from splitting gigging bands - if they're not the ones that caused their band to split they'll be more willing to find a new band and keep giging; - Be frontal and honest from the get go - tell them about what you expect from them, how many rehearsalls a week, rehearsall time, number of completed songs expected at the end of each rehearsall, expected date to start giging, and let them know everybody is doing their own job so it's expected that they must take their songs learnes to every rehearsall - a serious giging musician with experience and will to be in your band won't have any problems with this, a guy that looks worried about the hard work or comes up with excuses right in the start will have more probability to fail the band when the work starts; - Schedule gigs as fast as you can - nothing like having a deadline to make thigs going and get people working, they'll know that the work has a goal and you'll push yourselfs to get the set up and running faster (do this only if you're happy with the results of the previus points or else you may have to cancel the booking because of a faulty musician); - Have fun with your new friends - all bands i've been with became like a second family and i have great friends for life, having a band that knows how to enjoy each others company (not just through music but all the rest, from the roadtrips to some healthy banter to some pints over a great conversation) is half way to have people working at home and look forward for the next gig/rehearsall. You can also keep your relationship professional and casual but in that case everybody needs to behave like a professional... My 0.02€
  16. You're not alone in this. I'm in Portugal and if everybody sold their gear collection only i wouldn't have had the things i did. I'm a trusting guy in nature, fortunately never got scammed but i lost the count on the amount of times i had to go through long message exchanges with sellers to convince them to ship internationally their items. If i'm selling and somebody asks me to ship i'll have no problem with that unless it's a rare and fragile Ming vase with 1000+ years old... I don't mind going through the trouble of bom-proof packing something to survive the apocalypse of a courier travel but many people think that it only takes one layer of bubble wrap and a thin cardboard to protect their items (it doesn't!). I know that if i agree to ship i'll have far more chances of getting my item sold at asking price. I'll do my homework allways and try to have as many info on the buyer/seller as possible. Feedback info is allways a good indicator, i don't do business with nigerian princes unless they have a basschat account with positive feedback comments form members that i recognize as frequent on the site. The major problems here are e-bay/etc. and the easy way to get scammed by another , the general lack of knowlege on how to proper protect your parcel for shipping and mainly the pure layziness of those who can't be bothered to get a bit of bubblewrap and some cardboard (free most times if you know where to look) to increase the chances of a good, fast sale. If somebody is so affraid to sell their gear that it has to be done in those terms then he/she deserves to be stuck with it without selling or be forced to sell at a bigger loss to the only local offer...
  17. I used the same "seagull shape" EQ in my old TE 1215 GP12 combo back in the days. I think this EQ in reality takes care of some inset problems with the "classic trace sound", it removes the muddy low end replacing it with a more puchy low-mid, removes the boxiness in the mids region and also removes the static noises in the high frequencies. I can get the same (even better) tone from my current Genz Benz / Barefaced setup with my EQ completely flat. That's one of the reasons i moved on from this (the weight was also a big issue). BTW, this pic must have 12+ years (you can tell by the spider webs... ), i don't own any of that gear anumore exept for that Seiko 747 tuner on top of the amp.
  18. The female plug in the end of the strip is probably there for you to connect another strip if you need a longer run of LEDs
  19. ^^^ This one takes my vote. Epic! ^^^ But has i think i have to leave a option here this is my contribution: (...) EDIT: cut round, png format:
  20. This is well put. Be considerate for a week, do your best to keep volume down. We (as bassplayers) don't need to feel the trousers flapping whilst rehearsing, only hear the notes, cut back on bass (use a LPF if you have it) and be sensible on the volume. But when she starts making noise in her own home at inapropriate hours be sure to knock on her door calling her attention to it, may help her put things in another perspective. It sounds like she's a very selfish person and usualy they overlook their own flaws whilst being unforgiving with the same flaws in others. Personally, it's very rare for me to practise with any of my amps, i just use them to test gear after setups and repairs at home. I practise with my USB mini-mixer hooked to the PC, i can have the youtube track and my bass track comming out of my PC's 2.1 system and my bass sounds good enough for what i need and at a reasonable volume.
  21. I don't mind that from time to time bands write songs similar to something that has already been recorded. There are a limited amount of chords and not all progressions sound great. Sometimes there's something somebody heard a few years ago that was stuck in the subconscient and came out in a moment of composition completely unaware of the existance of the original song. Having said that Lana's song sounds like almost a copy of Creep in terms of feel and sound as the Hollies song on the other hand is a bit more appart from it.
  22. In all fairness i haven't been looking at other strings for a few years so they may have more info now.
  23. That's one of the reasons i love D'Addarios, they have every bit of information available on their site, lenghts, tension charts, tone, gauges, etc. It's easy to choose a set that fits the instrument. Other makes of strings make it hard to choose the best fit without having to send them an e-mail.
