1.
Well... look what I just got: I had no intention whatsoever of buying a Jazz, but I went to see someone about a Precision today and they also had this. I just couldn't resist it...
Nice one! Saw this had gone on Facebook and wondered if you'd taken it for yourself. It looks stunning (hopefully my precision will be as nice when it's done!). Enjoy! (Sound clips?)
2. I wish I wasn't so far away so I could enter my Fender Nate Mendel signature into the game. Looking forward to seeing the results though!
3. I second Steve-bbb. Our warbler has used both and the VE20 was nowhere near as good. Go for the Helicon!
4.
Hi I'll take the flex steels if they are as new
Sure are! PM me :-)
5. How had this not flown out?! Great DI and I use mine at EVERY gig, rehearsal and recording session. The isolation cuts out all signal noise and it's built like a tank and £60 is a steal. Someone will get a bargain here. GLWTS!

Will sell all 7 in one go for £36 or deals for more than 2 sets! SOLD PENDING - £10 Payment via direct bank transfer or paypal gift please!
7. I'm surprised nobody has suggested a 'Basschat Magazine' yet... Lots of players, people who have access to gear who work in music retail or within the industry (or could include reviews of gear by basschatters playing other basschatters basses... That would be an interesting twist on the usual reviews!) and we have designers and educators. Not such a far-fetched idea!

9. Self Esteem was one of the bass lines that really got me wanting to play bass! Great band and a superb bassist! http://youtu.be/CkFH0KMO0G0
10. Depends on the gig and load in. If stuff is going in the van for a function or wedding; bass in hardcase, cab in live-in flightcase, cables amp and pedalboard just carry in the retrospective gig bags. If it's a quick, smaller gig; bass in gig bag, pedalboard amp and cables in gig bags and cab goes in it's Aguilar padded cover.
11.
Found this. Lovely bass, wired things on it!! http://muldersworld.com/watch.asp?v=xtVkxXOu_Mo
To answer your question... This: http://www.spidercapo.com
12. My Geddy Lee jazz bass also has a first fret side dot so it's not just the squiers. I thought all basses that have a block first fret inlay also had a first fret side dot to match? I didn't realise that was uncommon...
13.

No sarcasm... I think the decision to not have a headstock makes it the ugliest headstock design ever!
14.
You guys seen this bass, very well made indeed , great tone too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckA79F1V6iQ
Fixed
15. Steinberger...
16. I must admit I've been heading down this path (sort of)... I've sold two basses, loads of bits and bobs I've hoarded over the years (pedals etc) and downsized my rig from two 12" cabs to one (by selling one this morning)... The feeling of dread soon kicked in and I thought it was because I'd made the wrong decision but it's actually not. I have made the correct decision and in sure of that. It's the feeling that I'm missing out by somehow not owning these material things that I enjoy but don't NEED! I have a more than adequate gigging rig after selling all the bits and pieces so I'm happy about that and the money raised is going towards some recording bits which I will use much more. It's funny how the GAS induced part of your brain tries to trick you with these feelings of regret!
17. I have no idea but I'd guess that the bottom one is the earliest. The gap in the handle seems smaller than the others (especially compared to the one on the top) and the clasp in the middle of the handle seems like a silly place to put it (and all the others have moved them across to the left suggesting that design didn't work too well). Just a fun guess though. Could be total wrong!
18.
Actually the manufacturer is only making the new range with matching headstocks - currently there's not an option to delete this and have a plain one!
Wow! That's ridiculous! Those U2 boys have a lot to answer for ;-)
19. Had the guys at Dunlop in my local store doing demos and they went through some MXR/Way Huge pedals and strings. I'm D'Addario through and through but after trying to convince me to change, they talked me through the benefits of the dunlops over other brands. Low tension. Designed by the guy from DR. Pre-stretched (so great for changing before gigs!). Reasonably priced. High wrap-ratio so feel really smooth (quite like the feel of coated strings without the coating). I'm usually pretty cynical with these kind of things but thought id try them. I fitted them on my gigging bass this morning and tuned them up to pitch. Played them all day and not had to tweak the tuning at all. Just held tuning and required no setting of the action etc thanks to the pre-stretching. I'll be playing them all day tomorrow and Friday at a recording session, a rehearsal and a couple of gigs so I'll be looking to see how they fair. So far though, im converted. I suppose they lack the reputation of bigger brands because they haven't been around as long but the 'super bright' nickel set that I took are essentially a slightly different version of the DR High Beams (without the price tag). Really nice!
20. Barry knows as well as anyone what the people who use the shop want and I'm sure his decision wouldn't have been based entirely on the fact that he personally likes a matching headstock...
21. J - 1.50 nut width - Olympic white over sunburst - Pao Ferro fingerboard - Tortoiseshell pickguard - Medium Relic'd P - 1.50 nut width - 2 tone sunburst - Pao Ferro fingerboard - Tortoiseshell pickguard The top one is next on my hit list :-)
22.
I couldn't disagree more. They're a functions band who are gigging nearly every week. Of course they're going to take hiring a new bass player seriously.
Totally agree. Like you said, if youre applying for a job and they ask you to do a second interview, you don't go 'Erm no! You've kept me waiting too long!' It's a LOT of work trying to replace a band member and I imagine they're just doing it properly from the off so that they don't have to reaudition after a week when someone decides it's not right or takes up too much time!
23. Maybe they just thought there wasn't much between your audition and another candidate and they just want to give it another go to see how it goes in a less pressured, more realistic environment? If another person had said no, surely they would've offered it to you rather than setting up a second audition type situation? Also, use it as an opportunity to see if the way they rehearse and work on songs is something you're happy with and to make sure it's a band you'd be happy to join. It's as much an opportunity for you to audition them as it for them to judge you :-)
24. For those that were looking to see if Mark did slab precisions, I found this when browsing: http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/sold_basses/00121limelight66slabp.htm Looks like it'd be possible :-)
25.
I actually came across this the other day wondering how low the human voice can go (I can just about do a low E). He should be in a metal band, epic stuff.
So it's good for metal?
