Take the whole lot but only connect the one cab as usual... Until the guitarist touches his amp and then boom! Plug the rest in and destroy him!!
Reason for asking who was playing was because I really, really disliked this and didn't want to offend anyone here Nathan East's original part sits perfectly in the song and is one of my favourite disco/pop bass lines in recent years. The vid version above is, to my ears, just horribly overplayed and doesn't work at all. I can understand the reason for playing like this and appreciate the technique but this is exactly the sort of playing that would not get the job if played at an audition. Or maybe I'm just getting old
I'm kinda with you on this. IMO the slap was a little out of place and the 'groove' that the other guys think is great I can't seem to hear. The actual groove from Nate's original part seem to have been lost and the playing in this video is just a little bit clinical and overplayed and loses the groove as a result (IMO). No doubt that the playing is technically good but it just doesn't feel right. It doesn't make me want to groove along like the original and that's the whole function of Nate's playing in the original.

The 60th anniversary commemorative Stratocaster is really nice. Should hold its value well and the special design 1954 pickups are fantastic!! http://www.fender.com/series/american-standard/60th-anniversary-commemorative-stratocaster-maple-fingerboard-2-color-sunburst/

I have never broken a string in 17 years. I was gigging 4/5 times a week for nearly 3 years straight sat one point and only ever took one bass to the gig (including gigs abroad and travelling by plane and van etc). I did always have a small multitool, spare strings ready to go if needed and always had money in the bank in case the luggage carriers destroyed something and I'd just buy/hire a replacement. Never had an amp, lead, string, cab, strap or anything go wrong at a gig.
I find that most interfaces these days seem to come with built in pre-amps. I don't really need pre-amps. What I do need is as many inputs as possible, minimum 16, with the possibility to expand further. I have a Tascam US1800 at the moment and you can't have more than one plugged in at the same time, which is sh*te. Can you recommend me an interface under £500 to fit the bill? I would prefer to buy second hand if it can save me money
This is a nice little interface. The preamps as you've said aren't really needed but you get 20 in/20 out and the converters are very good... The nice preamps are just a bonus :-) http://www.production-room.com/product-details/Focusrite-Saffire-PRO-40
I'll never understand why people make such a big deal about this bridge and feel the need to fit them as an 'upgrade'. Don't see the appeal and I certainly didn't fall in love with it when I had one on a Fender I used to own. Just a bridge, isn't it?
I agree. I bought both the Geddy and the Nate Mendel because of the neck profile. The bridge made no difference and to be honest, I'd be happy if neither of them had it. It is the kind of thing that some people believe will make a huge difference so no doubt I'll be able to switch mine out one day and get rid when they get a reputation way beyond how good they are.
Well, this is a first. Would it be a fashion faux pas to play this bass wearing jeans? http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_VM4_Jeans_finish.html [Img]http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Sandberg_VM4_Jeans_finish_files/Jeantop590.jpg" class="ipsImage" />
Double denim is a definite faux pas.
I actually agree - I sold the one that was installed on a bass I bought 2nd hand, although I suspect my experience was hampered because I never bothered to file in grooves. Nevertheless I thought the bass 'felt' better without it (no discernable difference in sound) I just thought it was interesting!
Not surprised it felt better when you had a bridge with saddle grooves lol!
The comment below the spec says "the image will be updated shortly"!
Ah! Im not sure whether this is a good or bad thing. I imagine people will be hunting them down now!
So it looks like the BadAss II bridge has finally ceased production, for real this time. Looking at Fender's website all of the artist series basses that previously featured BA II bridges now have Fender Hi-mass bridges instead. Couple of examples: http://www.fender.com/en-GB/basses/precision-bass/nate-mendel-p-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-candy-apple-red/ http://www.fender.com/en-GB/basses/precision-bass/mike-dirnt-road-worn-precision-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst/
Are you sure? That mike dirnt in the link has a bad ass II bridge. My CIJ Geddy and my Nate Mendel both have them, so it's nice that I got one of each before they got rid of it. I really like the Bad Ass II bridge :-)
It appears that way, I know. A White Pearl PG is on it. I edited the early photos.
We have a JPM tele at work and slammed a black pickguard on it. Looks stunning! (I do like that pearloid though)

I do love this colour! It doesn't work well on the strats and teles IMO but it does look nice on a precision!

I saw an interview with some hasbeen old pop stars doing that 'Big reunion' thing on ITV today and they actually struck a chord (excuse the pun!)... They stated that they didn't enjoy music/performing/recording the first time around due to the pressures and intensity of the schedule. Like RhysP, they felt everything was a chore and a hassle. They then stated that they are enjoying it so much second time around because they now appreciate what they had. They flippantly dismissed the experience the first time around and felt it was hassle and hard work. But after not having it, they released how lucky they were to be getting paid to do what they love (even if that meant working hard and dedicating lots of time to it). If you love it, don't take it for granted and if you don't love it, move on to something you will love and make way for someone who wants in :-)
Hmmm, I have been wanting a relic'd p bass for a while now... Anyone fancy pming me to give me a rough idea of price?
Just email mark. He's a lovely bloke and would respond swiftly with a quote.

You'll have to wait and see!... Ah go on then. Lightly relic'd '60s precision bass, jazz-width neck with rosewood 'board (clay dot inlays & hand rolled fingerboard edges), Olympic White with 4 ply nitro tortoise shell 'plate and all the vintage style hardware/pickup wiring etc. Can't wait!!

When mine arrives, I'll be back!
After a chop and change and refresh of my instruments, Im trying to get to my magical number which is 4 instruments. I.E - 2 electiric guitars - 1 with with single coils 1 with humbuckers 1 acoustic 1 bass Ive got 3/4 sorted , but I want to get a nice guitar that is inexpensive (between £200 - £300) that has humuckers that will complelent my single coil guitar, a Squier CV telecaster. Ive had various ideas of guitars within that budget e.g an Epi Les Paul, JSH Vintage vRS (which is a bit like a PRS) and an Epi Dot Studio. Anyone else got any ideas that they can throw my way to whet my appetite?
The Epiphone LTD ED 1966 G400 SG has some great humbuckers (better than the cheaper models!) and comes in at £260. Might be worth a shout? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/epiphone-limited-edition-1966-g-400-pro-cherry/59662?gclid=COzh2Jzxrr4CFaXHtAodEkAAHQ
I'd go with the neck stamps. I don't think the 75 re-issue was around in '85. There are other examples of people finding these basses hard to date, including this one: "Serial numbers can also be tricky when trying to get an accurate date. I once had a Japanese Fender '75 reissue Jazz Bass that I bought used and according to the serial number I looked up, was made around 1985. I was suspicious because I didn't think they made the '75 reissue that early on, so I popped the neck off and it had a date stamp of 1998. It turned out that this was a case of overlapping serial numbers used by Fender Japan on different models. Lesson here is that until you see the date stamp on either the neck or body, the serial number is only a guess." From http://fenderbassplayer.com/152-properly-dating-a-fender-bass
Cheers Pete. 1999 it is :-)
