Neil just bought a preamp from me, super easy transaction and a pleasure to do business with. Thanks Neil

@Woodinblack good to hear that, as I thought from your initial comment on May 1st the ZAR's hadn't been much of an upgrade over the ZS10s, but I may have been mis-reading your comment? As you'll have gathered from my own comments a few weeks back, I'm very much of the view that the ZARs are a noticeable step up in sound / listening experience over the ZS10s (and also over the Sennheiser 300 and Shure SE215 and 315 set I previously had) and seems that there's a bit of a consensus starting to build on that from those of us who have tried them.

That is annoying. It can be useful to have some songs ready to go if an extra song or two is needed, or just to vary the set a bit so you don't get bored.

Its annoying when we learn a new song we just add it to the set rather than drop one out and keeping the sets approx 1hr each. Both my bands suffer from this issue. In a few yrs i'll be doing 4hr sets if things don't change. I've always thought 2 off 1hr sets is ideal. It leaves an audience wanting more. Too long they get bored. Dave

Built this up a few years back using a Alder body from BooBoo guitars. The control rout is slightly off hence it was sold as a second. I sanded it down and finished it in Sunburst Nitro. It's an OK job. Makes for a great gigging bass. The neck is a American Performer neck that has the original tuners, but someone had put vintage tuners on it for some reason so I filled and refinished the back and went with the standard American Fender tuners. These necks have the carbon reinforcement rods for extra stability. GZR P bass pick ups and custom loom. Great gigging bass with quality components at a bargain price. Sounds and plays great. Comes with gig bag.

Looks like it’s cracked - unfortunately common with these bridges. -

Was the same for me when I was in Knock Off, I always thought that a 30 - 40 min set was best, full-on and unrelenting.

We average 1hr 10-15mins first set and 1hr 20-25mins second set but its great when we get two 1hr sets. Think the most enjoyable was with the punk band where we were 2nd support band at a local rock venue with PA and backline supplied. By the time the 1st band got off stage and we got started our 30mins was down to 20 mins and we still got paid £200. I could cope with more 20min £200 gigs. Dave

Sorry if this is an ignorant question, but couldn't you just turn down the volume on your instrument a tad?

Audio clips or it didn’t happen 😀

Not many of that size, although we do a few festivals through the summer that'd be playing to around 1000. I'd love to do more of them. The other guys would prefer 45 or 60 minutes. Most of our headline shows are 90 minutes or more. I personally love the short sets as it feels "full on" all the way through

Silent stages - a soul-less gigging experience?
Al Krow replied to Al Krow's topic in PA set up and use
Yes, our singer uses wireless in ears and spent a fair bit of time out front. She's also one of the "just one-in" in ear brigade, so has the other ear listening to ambient sound. It was actually the dep guitarist, who's a mate of mine, who relayed that he and she had both thought it "sounded better". Tbf she's since clarified that it was more to do with the balance of the sound, rather than the quality of the sound, and the PA being able to give her vocals sufficient prominence which she found easy to get right at sound check. Our regular comment from the audience historically has been to turn up her vocals (and, yes, she got excellent mic technique and is a trained singer) in the mix, although I'm getting more proficient at sorting the desk settings out these days. Interestingly the guitarists I've been working with who have struggled most to get a sound they like when going through the PA without backline have all been using Helix Stomps. There's often a harshness to the tone which they have to work hard to address, or give up on and switch to another mulitfx eg Kemper in one case. The two guitarists using the Boss GT 1000 / Core have found a sound they liked much more quickly out of the box. This may partly be down to the 2015 Helix chip set being relatively long in the tooth now? -

I AB'd Jive with more expensive boutique pedals for that "on the verge of breakup" or "low gain" tone, but nothing sounded better than Jive to me. It's a keeper. That's with a P with flats and Stingray (3 band) with rounds.
