  2. I have been playing in bands for over 40 years and have yet to be given a list of songs we are not allowed to play at a gig. 🤷‍♂️ What gigs are you playing where they're telling you what not to play?
  3. Even if you never pay for the licence Reaper is only good VfM if you only stick with the supplied plug-ins or 3rd party free ones. Once you've added more than a couple of paid-for plug-ins you might as well have bought Logic which comes with all the plug-ins most people could ever need. Also if you do a lot of things requiring MIDI, the manipulation of the events in Logic is vastly superior to Reaper.
  4. TI flats on my Sandberg Basic, they’re perfect for me and the same set’s been on there for several years now.
  5. Are you sure it has a pan pot? That looks like the classic jazz bass VVT setup. It looks like the red wire had come away from the tone pot and the white from the middle volume pot. Difficult to say exactly where from the pics but there will be signs of solder and no wires to give you a clue or just Google Jazz Bass Wiring and follow the diagram.
  6. What sort of guitar bridge? There are many different designs. Some might be suitable others might not. How much modification are you prepared to undertake? Also having owned a couple of Bass VIs with what are essentially guitar bridges I've found that the string spacing is far too tight for comfort with bass strings fitted.
  7. Recently fully switched over to a HX Stomp so I'm clearing out my pedals and related accessories. Great condition, all works perfectly, velcro on the bottom as my board was deep enough to mount underneath. Comes with the mounting brackets for certain Pedaltrain boards, various length power cables and a small amount of velcro. Retail at about £189, now going for £115 includes delivery. Any questions, ping me a message

  11. I know what you mean. The guitarist having a few small briefcase sized flight cases behind him and a Coop bag for life isn't the image, but once the smoke and lights get going I'm not sure it's so relevant. On Fridays gig I was getting good sound from my on stage rig, muddy sound from my wedge, went on a walkabout and heard the bass sounding perfect through the FOH. It's that conflict between the different sound sources that is starting to p me off, standing in the sweet spot to get the right balance isn't always an option.
  12. Must admit, I'd never given it any thought really. So, they're not the same company? Thtat does rather explain the confusing naming...
  13. I bought a few of the cheap modules and they were invariably unreliable. I have had power supplies +\- 50V and they were +/- 70V. There is almost no technical support or documentation. I have modules from Connex that work flawlessly and I have had good support from Connex but, as with 3e, the actual cost is virtually the same as a certified ICEPowet module. A little knowledge IS a dangerous thing and whatever route you take, you must know what you are doing. These amplifiers have dangerous voltages, not only on the mains side but also at the output of the power supply. In addition, The regulations around safety and emi/rfi are also important and most enthusiastic amateurs (since retiring I must include myself in this group) do not have the knowledge or experience required.

  15. Bump with trades added:- 1) decent lightweight cab (min 400w handling) 2) p bass - sunburst ideally and traditional fenderish 3) semi hollow bass
  16. Yes I agree. When I got my first Cali II bass (roadworn) I noticed immediately that the overall body size was reduced; when stood back to back with a Fender the difference is marked!

  18. I have one in black. Nice bass... Hard to believe that the price used is £200 You're too far to make any offer. GLWTS.
  19. All my shorties - Mustang, Dano Longhorn, SG, EB3 - fit into Thomann E Guitar Deluxe gig bags, which cost the princely sum of £26. A bargain if you happen to be buying other things. More protection than the Fender gig bag, which I was less than impressed with. https://www.thomann.de/gb/thomann_gigbag_deluxe_egitarre.htm
  20. The picture displays perfectly on all my devices. Here it is again - hope this works?!
  21. People being dismissive and scornful over an opinion that differs from their own? Never! Not on Basschat.
  22. In Bath tomorrow and Bristol on Wednesday, with about an hour and a half to kill in both cities. Stuff I should check out? Shops, anyone up for coffee...?

Bath is a lovely place. Vintage n' rare guitars shop - if you want to look at old instruments you can't afford lol.
Nice little cafe on Pultney bridge (you have to at least go & look at the bridge when in Bath - it's the law ha ha).
So many nice buildings & pretty places. The Roman baths are quite expensive to visit these days, but worth a visit, especially if you're not often in the area.

Re Bristol, I like the whole area around St. Nicholas's market. Some great street food in the market. Some cracking pubs in the city. I like the Strawberry Thief close to the market. Really nice Belgian beers - but it's not cheap. Or there's a cracking micro brewery near Temple Meads railway station, situated underneath a railway viaduct.
