  2. That Sounds excellent , All our test runs went really well , I settled on the pick bass preset rather than finger preset , a bit of EQ magic , on the Gp-5 to push my own mids Then Going straight to our rather modest PA with zero on stage amp ... i've donated my markbass CMD121P Combo to act as a powered Woofer going into its return ... and it sounds really rather tidy. This is all in aid of a Gig with no provided PA support , in a small pub , I also had a go with the guitarists fancy new quad cortex ... lots of good options the Simulated SVT and it sounded VERY similar to the Rig Capture i'd uploaded onto the GP5 .. All in all im confident enough to gig it.
  3. That looks like the work of a certain fleabay seller!! 🤣
  4. ŴThe two reasons seem to be: The singer is inexperienced. The guitarist is difficult to get along with. My view would be to say that you were hoping the band would be gigging by now and thought that following the open night there are a number of things you need to address before you're ready to gig. Maybe have a 'nice' list. From there, you can either judge the mood or suggest they find a bass player who is more aligned with their timeline and experience. I don't know. It's difficult to say that without sounding pompous. 🤣
  5. No. just a question really. PS I'm not sure what a bass troll is !!
  6. Yes, I now have a Northwest Guitars w/b/w 3-ply guard on my black Sonic P (changed for the same reasons as the OP). It's top quality and a perfect fit 👍
  7. A 'BC Absence Thread', if you will? 🙂
  8. Proper jealous of your natural light mate, that's a lovely little place.
  9. For sale, Dimarzios latest incarnation of Billy Sheehans signature p bass pickups. Chrome, radiused covers to follow the radius of the fretboard and rounded off edges for comfort. Hot as you'd expect from a pickup designed for Billy. Claimed to be perfect for using with distortion by Dimarzio, I don't so couldn't comment. I have used these for a number of differing gigs and they are by no means a one trick pony. Postage included to UK addresses. Cheers
  10. Yeh, I know what you are thinking, a pigeon? where is the other one. Well, at that moment he was out in the hallways, but now he is back on his clock stand where he belongs. I still don't have a camera, but in general it looks like this:
  11. This has been on the site a few times, not least last month when I tore it all apart to install new racks, cabling and new toys, so it's a bit neater than usual. Too small to let it get messy though.
  12. Don't really want to sell this because it looks so cool and sounds great, however I'm getting swamped in gear here so off it goes. Often described as the poor mans B-15 this 90's Made in the USA B100r gives you all the vintage tone you need in a solid state package. I used it on a couple of Motown tribute shows and it was excellent. I did have 2 of these and sold the other one a few years back. This is the one I kept as it was all original, the handle and speaker cloth are in very nice condition. It even has the original (and working) blue lamp. Overall its in good condition, but its does show signs of age as its nearly 30! Its just been fully serviced, it comes with casters and a Roqsolid cover that I had made for it. At this stage I'm after collection only so happy to demo it here in London N21 Any questions please ask
  13. One of my favourites too. The new album 'That wasn't a dream' is just as good. Amazing songwriting partnership they've got.
  14. Today
  15. Picked up a new guitar from GuitarGuitar Epsom yesterday, a Gibson Les Paul Standard ‘60s AAA Bourbon Burst (a GG exclusive model.) The AAA flame top is gorgeous and although it added to the price, I have on impulse control (I blamed my medication for that and the missus understood). GG had thirteen to choose from on the website and this one just seemed perfect, it was the lightest one at just over 9lb and it had the nicest flame in the top. My own photos wouldn't do it justice, so I’ve nicked the pics from the shop’s listing. It came strung with 10s and plays great straight out of the case with a super low action. I’ll probably swap to 9s at some point and might have to raise the bridge a touch then, but I think with the lighter strings it’ll feel even better. Tone-wise, it’s lovely. The ‘60s Burstbuckers both have their own vibe, and they sound fantastic whether clean or with some dirt.
  16. My desk is its normal state of messy, although it also has a pigeon on it at the moment, but I don't have a camera!
  17. Ah thanks so much for coming in. were all so glad you came away with this lovely bass. it really means a lot when customers come to the shop and try things out. and even more when they come away with something so nice. all the best! Bass Direct
  18. You can't know if music is A.I. A.I. has no idea whatsoever as to the underlying forces in musical composition, and its music is just as bad as music made by most humans. 😁
  19. There was a gremlin in my last post . 🤦‍♂️ Anyway , I started to go through the mess a few days ago. Then midweek , the heatwave made things unbearable 🥵 It all started with a fight with very large tv and soundbar boxes which I purchased a few months ago . Yesterday, I purchased a Mac mini which is connected to the tv in the front room.. Hopefully I can purchase a MacBook on black Friday/ Christmas time . This means I can do away with the 2017 iMac , and have 2 places to record my GarageBand efforts when I’m inspired/ not too lazy ..
  20. You are right actually! I got confused with the active/passive push-pull. Corrected now
  21. I've only ever picked up Sandbergs to have a quick noodle and it's hard to describe but you can just feel the quality. Great basses, glad you've got a way to work around the back issues too, Loz, hope this keeps you doing what you love.
  22. I don’t need a precision… I don’t need a precision …. I’m happy with my sire jazz five string ….😇
