Fender Rumble 800 (the non effects one in my case). I don`t think it gets max power without an ext cab but as it`s delivering - at least on paper spec wise - 400 watts then that should be plenty for most venues.

Usual answer here. Either a Rumble 500 or 800. I realise that you don`t get full power with just the combo but 300 and 400 watts is plenty for pubs and clubs. I play in an ac/dc covers band with Marshalls and a hard hitting drummer and they do the job.

You mentioned up the thread that this was only for bedroom practice. Since the owner can’t afford anything else, why not just use the amp as-is at low volumes? And just keep an eye on the temperature. Or take regular breaks? Or are there other problems besides the fan not coming on?

They are terrible amps fraught with issues and failures !! 😂 Kidding of course, they are very good amps and as mentioned the compressor isn’t great but a decent powerful amp with amazing service backup from Ashdown U.K.
