Whilst I take your point, has your drummer’s dad sold 120 million albums worldwide?

Assuming it is a Spector Legend from your description. Almost certainly the knobs are volume, pan, bass and treble. generally volume at the front and pan closest to the pickups, but sometimes spector change that for a laugh. bass and treble should be reasonably apparent.

@Grooverjr: Is Schönberg bad music, because I happen to like it or is it bad, because there are lots of others who don't? (By the way, I am not so keen on Bach, Pastorius, and Nirvana. But I have played or sang some of their work on gigs.)

Excellent condition (pedal almost ‘as new’, box is a little more beaten) MXR Studio Comp. This is famously EXACTLY the same circuit as the MXR Bass Comp, but with a different enclosure. MXR did this to sell it more effectively to the guitar market. To be fair, I think it looks smarter than the Bass Comp. This is MXR’s take on an 1176 comp I believe. Not much else to say, solid pedal, nice transparent sound, effective compression. Cool. £120 inc UK postage. No trades unless you have a Guild Starfire II in ‘Natural’ or a Sire P5R 5 string in white (+money your way of course 😅). Cheers Si

I have no idea, I just know my wife likes Marilyn Manson, Linkin Park, 90's grunge and dance. Some of the jazz I've played her she has liked and some has just been disjointed noise. I suspect this might be the latter. Not sure if that answers your question.

Ah, like a participation award. That's what the pyramid stage is used for now! The drummers dad is over 80, he likes getting up for a sing, he's not great but he has a go and people seem to enjoy it, maybe I can see if we can get him booked for Glastonbury next time

Cornwall Steve started following Dean Fretless Basses
-
Does anyone own or has played one of these? Are they any good ? Where I live it's slim pickings for choice when it comes to picking up a half decent 5 string fretless at a reasonable price however a couple of Dean's have recently come up for sale within driving distance. I'd appreciate anyone's thoughts please 🤔 Thanks

@Basvarken: Can't say I could play those monsters, but they do look kool!

Just my two cents... That Jack Daniels, as well as the oak necked instruments are the best looking, because the graphics continue through all parts, including neck. I love that yellow black scheme, but how about tinting the neck, too? 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, 12th fret, should they be black or yellow?

I see some of rod Stewart as miss RB was watching it, even though he was out of tune I did find it entertaining and good for him for having a go at his age, also I think his bass player changed basses 3 times, one looked like an early 70s P

Any Real/Fake book is like that. You choose when to play double tempo, or whatever during playing, or before the session. That's it. I know some songs by heart, but a Fake book library is super helpful. Now, when the books are in PDF format, I can carry thousands of songs with me in just one tablet. Very different that 30-40 years ago, when everything was on paper. My bass bags were filled with paper. And every time some paper was missing. Thanks to you, @Bilbo as well as @ChrisDev and @tomread! Your impeccable work has saved me numerous times. I can also say that MuseScore pages have usually something usable, although the bass is not the most popular instrument there - but for a head start, or chart...

If the music only works as musicianship and isn't something a non-musician can appreciate then is it good music, or just good technique? The best stuff works on both levels, with the musicianship adding a dimension but not getting in the way.

Welcome to the club! Don't call yourself shallow, colour is an important part of a bass! I would not touch a sunburst with a stick 🤪 Regarding bright flats, here's an infodump for you: -
