terryj started following DIY Guitar Kits - Anyone tried them?
-
It's got to be worth a go if only for the pleasure of building it and hopefully it could be playable.
-
No idea, I’m merely a sheep. But, I believe it’s come across from forums such as Reddit that aren’t so bass specific. I’ve read plenty of random threads where people have asked this about a pickup combination or amp etc… The Basschat equivalent surely would be ‘what’s the weight?’ Anyway, back to the thread at hand… very cool! Naive as I am, I think after googling it, it’s some of the first pictures I’ve ever seen of bootsy not actually looking like ‘Bootsy’

If this hasn't been a problem in the past then it wasn't your gear, it was the room, although a 4x10 arrangement doesn't help. You'd be better served with a pair of 2x10, stacked vertical, to get the upper drivers closer to ear level. At the very least your 4x10 should be tilted back and/or elevated, otherwise the directional mids that are the source of clarity are passing by you unheard.

Some kind of straplock perhaps? Might take a bit of adjustment but I reckon it would look pretty cool on the top horn.

Thanks so much for this overview. I used to own a few US Bongo’s and had a love/hate relationship with them, hence why I no longer own one. When these were announced, I was quite excited but a little dubious about what they could present for that price point. Your overview has confirmed those doubts. Thanks again, and as the others have said, send it back and keep enjoying your US models.

I had the stereo and sold it. Regretted it and bought the mono. It really is the Swiss Army knife of amp world. I’ve got a Markbass Evo 1 to try out at the moment which basically, has the Multiamp amps and effects but has two independent channels, which is exactly what I need. I think it’s what I’ve been looking for, for a long time 😁

£50 price reduction Trades - X Touch Universal. Try me with anything, I can only say no 😁 Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Chrome hardware and a vintage sunburst finish. Mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and a basswood body. A retro instrument with a modern twist." Maple Top Mahogany Body Mahogany Neck Lignum Rosa Fingerboard Entwistle MBH Bridge Pickup Entwistle MBN Neck Pickup Jumbo Frets 42mm Nut Width 30" Scale Length Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

If you're still using an analogue desk, I would encourage you to buy one of these digital desks and wonder why you hadn't before. I cannot adequately describe the difference the XR18 has made to my band. The sound is so much clearer and the freedom it gives people, to manage their own monitor mix etc, is game changing. It has raised our (sonic) game exponentially.

Check out Barefaced cabs. https://barefacedaudio.com/ Email the guys and explain your situation and you'll get good advice, about Barefaced obviously, but you can kill both guitarists with the right BF cab(s). ps Sounds like your next purchase should also be a good set of moulded ear plugs. I use ACS. IMO they are the best. Do a search on Basschat for ACS. https://acscustom.com

Glad I'm not the only one, I had to switch channels after 20 mins, nothing of interest, move on. I think it shows how the long standing program makers have lost touch. There's Scott Devine's YT channel, which at times is great and other a bit silly, but the guy can play and I learn from him (and Ian) I think also media makers like Scott can create content how they want free from editorial control. YT is producing some really great presenters/tutors Luv it. -
Harps started following DIY Guitar Kits - Anyone tried them?

Morning all. just wondering if anyone has ever tried one of those build your own guitar kits? My eldest son has asked for one for Christmas. He’s very into electronics and fancies a go. I’m not expecting much beyond a starter guitar in quality but it could be a fun project. There’s some very cheap ones on Amazon and Thomann but some more expensive ones one places like https://guitarkitfabric.co.uk/products/diy-guitar-kits.html and wondering if it’s worth paying a bit more. He wants a tele shape one but looking at the kits on the site above, they have some funky basses as well so I’m sort of tempted myself. I’ll never afford a Rickenbacker so it’d be a cheap way to have something that looks similar - though I am incredibly bad at all things diy so it’d probably end up looking a bit rubbish😂

chris_b replied to MyNameIsMark's topic in Theory and Technique
To make anything groove or swing you need impeccable timing. Bad or inconsistent timing always gives the game away. It doesn't matter what you play, if you play it with great timing. Work with the drums and try to play as one. 60's Soul songs and Motown are a great place to start. They were all fantastic players.- 1 reply

Nothing to do with Antoria, nothing to do with Japan. These Jag-style basses are from 20 or so years ago, pre-dating Fender's own versions & appearing with various cheapo brands. I quite fancied a 'Stagguar' as a project but never found one for the £50 I'd have been willing to pay.

That's unusual for you guys @martthebass. Sometimes it happens and like you said, just move on to the next one and enjoy the festive gigs cause Glam is always a fun Xmas party night. Dave
