Lee-Man started following Sims custom guitar
-
Brought the body and neck direct from Sims Guitars. Spent way too much putting it together. Top flight hardware (hipshot USA locking tuners and Wilkinson trem) and EMG pickups and circuit. A luthier did all the work as I’m pretty useless with DIY. If you ordered a painted body and neck from Sims it would be well over a grand in this spec.

I'm going to take a blind guess at "somebody got the wrong song order on their setlist". I used to love that gag - keeps the singer on their toes! Well done on the recovery though.

Especially if you buy those Pino Palladino strings - y'know, the ones sprinkled with Welsh Fairy Dust and Unicorn Tears.
-
Retrovibe lightweight tuners annd Tusq nut are on and the neck is level, dressed and polished. Fretboard edges rolled. Tone Emporium pickups to go in married to a Bloodstone Guitarworks loom. Just waiting for chrome pickup rings to come from the States to tidy up around the pickups and it can all go together.

Mediocre Polymath started following Ancoats Basses
-
I just saw that Ancoats Guitars are gearing up to start making basses. Rather nifty looking things. I've been seeing this company's guitar designs popping up on social media here and there, and they look interesting (though I've never played one). They're a small custom builder in Manchester, I think, with a very agressive pricing strategy (basses starting from £1k, which barely gets you new strings these days).

Blaze77 started following Providence Anadime Bass Chorus.
-
Hi everyone. This is my first post here. I'm so glad I found this place. I have a small problem. I bought the Providence Bass Chorus and there seems to be something wrong with it, but I'd like to discuss this with someone who uses the same chorus. The problem is that the effect has too much background noise, for my taste. When the switch is in the second position, the Providence has more noise than the EXC bass Clone. In the third position, the noise becomes really loud with a pronounced LFO modulation. It's worse when I set the depth knob to zero. In these positions, the effect is useless because the noise is audible on recordings. In the first position (from the bottom), the effect is quiet and I don't have any problems. The noise is there regardless of whether I use the effect on batteries or with a power supply. I really like the sound, but these two settings are driving me crazy. Can someone help?

I'm Patrick and I’m looking for a band in need of a bass player. I moved to Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire a few months ago from Baltimore, USA. I played 60’s surf rock and outlaw country with The Dive Bombs for eight years. I like funky stuff, country/bluegrass, blues/jazz and most rock music. Get in touch if you have a project in mind and/or need some low end support. I have good equipment, know how to change my strings and yours, and wear sunglasses convincingly.

The IEM thing made me ask, but I am thinking of investing in earmoulded plugs.

Lots of licenced Fender merch turns up in Tesco and Asda, decent quality at good prices. I just happen to be wearing this... -

I have done that in the past. The only thing that puts me off now is the thought of modifying the expensive bridge and brass nut on my Spector to accept the heavier strings and the cost of putting it back to original. Maybe I should trade it for a 5 string.

Hi Gang! Hope everyones good. Putting my Ashdown head for sale- this is from December 2024 and used half a dozen times basically and can prove it. Working perfectly and with a fresh bill of service/review by Dave at Ashdown from September 2025 (faulty input jack) so fresh and ongoing warranty. Going digital with the band (Anagram + IEMs) so no use for this sadly. The head comes with cover, mint, plus footswitch (4x button). Happy to post, or short drive.

Something I was putting together as a backup but ended up with something else…… Slab Precision 66 type body. The paint is thin and not the best finish but not embarrassing. I didn’t paint it, it was like that when I bought it from here. It’s fine when it’s dressed up though. The neck pocket is bit oversized but when I fitted the neck (that I bought from here separately) , the holes lined up perfectly. I presume they are drilled for a standard Fender neck fitting. The neck is quite nice. It has Fender decals but it’s not a Fender. The decals have also been lacquered over. It has black Schaller tuners and a Geddy Lee neck plate. I think someone was building a Geddy at some point. The pups are Fender. They came out of a Mex Deluxe I believe. i was going to change the harness as it sometimes makes a crackle noise, not all the time, just now and again. Never got round to it as it’s so infrequent. Plays well enough and the neck is quite skinny. I haven’t weighed it but I would say it’s between 8-8 1/2 pounds. It could be a lot nicer with a bit of tlc but I’m not going to use it now and thought I may as well pass it on to someone. Collection and trial much preferred but I will post if the buyer arranges their own courier. I’ll throw in an old Gator case to ship it in. It’s seen better days so don’t think you are getting a posh new one 🤣 It’s a freebie!
