Just been back on Fender site and the Performer series is back listed again. So must have been just a website error...

That you got £50 for it?

A horn part to have a crack at. I actually did this transcription in the late 1980s on paper and found it this morning when looking for something else. It was all wrong but, hell, I was new to transcribing back then and there was no slowing things down on computers in those days. I have corrected my original errors this morning and put in into Sibelius and here it is. A great exercise and a way of really getting a sense of what Marsalis is doing to the melody. There is one tough passage that you will struggle with but, if you are inclined, it is worth spending some time of these kinds of things as it gives you a lot of insight into what is going on with these kinds of soloists. The head and trumpet solo on Gershwin's 'A Foggy Day (in London Town)' from the 1987 Wynton Marsalis album, 'Standard Time Vol. 1'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/a-foggy-day-wynton-marsalis-trumpet-solo/

I’ll be there as well! I saw Bruce at the Isle of Wight festival in 2012 and he was brilliant. I always had it in my mind to see him at one of his own shows. only downside is the complete lack of parking available. I got the tickets from Twickets and didn’t think to check if there was football on at the same time. I’ve found a place, but it’s a decent walk away

Very nice work. Saved another one. More Abigail Washburn than Bela Fleck, I think that's going to sound very authentic for old-time.

Yeah I mean if you compare it to the Quad Cortex models and captures: Model: has "input" and "master" controls that both introduce distortion in slightly different ways (master sounds more wooly, like the power tubes overdriving). They are essentially simulations of the underlying circuits, so they simulate the effects of the preamp tubes and the power tubes Capture: has a generic "input" that sounds very similar to the input control on the model, like changing the volume control on the instrument going into an amp set at a certain level. I can use it to clean up a "driven" SVT capture, or drive a "clean" capture. I imagine the NAM captures do the same thing/something very similar

I think you nail it with the word 'hype'. They're good enough basses, but IMHO, no better than many other flavours out there. I've owned three of them and sold each, as they just never made the cut when times got hard financially and things had to go. They had very comfortable necks and stable tubers; the bridge was rock solid and the controls top quality, however, I always found the tone controls fiddly and difficult to dial in a useable tone quickly on the fly. BTW, my first Wal cost me £50 (not a typo), when I bought it second-hand, as the guy selling it loathed it with a passion!

Just prior to going on, a man on a mobility scooter stopped to sing “Sharp Dressed Man” to me. It set me up for the gig!
