  2. Then you're happy, and many many other people are also happy. Everybody's happy. I don't know what you've complaining about.
  3. I'm always open to learning so appreciate the suggestion. When I get to my bass later I'll try what you said. The last thing I want to do is confuse things πŸ‘
  4. If anyone is looking for another MJ-1 I've just listed my metallic black one in for sale πŸ™‚
  5. I have my eye on something else, so this Soloking is for sale on the one-in, one-out protocol! Purchased in the Andertons blowout sale and basically as new. Just a few hours of bedroom play, never gigged. No notable damage that I can see. I changed the strings, lowered the action slightly and oiled the fretboard. Pickguard is still covered. As you can see I still have the Andertons box + inner box so it can be couriered. Happy to send via Parcelforce with their standard cover - buyer pays actual shipping, which should be under Β£20. Or you can sort out your own courier. Β£100 is firm payable in cash or bank transfer (no Paypal). I paid Β£150 new in the blowout sale so I think 2/3 is fair. Absolutely stonking bass for the money.
  6. I don't know what's going on with the pictures... πŸ˜• If you copy/paste this into a new browser window it should display: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/dmc0qsstctanrv5a9dkpl/IMG_20250511_142124.jpg?rlkey=30q3y5x613v5lnlhes6eqtm51&dl=1 It's the yellow one: https://www.markbass.it/product/markbass-mb-octaver/
  7. MarkBass Superbooster pedal in very good condition. It combines a clean boost (it's called 'boost' but it can be used to set a lower level rather than a boost when you press the footswitch), plus the classic controls from the Little Mark amps: Vintage Loudspeaker Emulation (VLE) and Variable Pre-shape Filter (VPF). The VLE acts much like a LPF, and the VPF is a bit like the contour control on many amps, that scoops the mids while boosting lows and highs. It's also a DI box. Underneath it has a little switch to select whether the bypass is buffered or 'true bypass'. Original MarkBass 12V power supply included. Despite running on 12V, I can confirm it runs well at 9V. I used to run it off a Voodoo Labs 9V multipower supply. It does feel like there's more headroom at 12V but I found the difference not worth using a separate power supply for it. Price includes delivery in the UK (1st class, signed-for). Here's the blurb from MarkBass: https://www.markbass.it/product/super-booster/ And the pedal itself...
  8. That pickup is Β£300+ worth. Go for it, but factor in a new bridge and probably a decent set of strings down the line ( another Β£250 ) It won't get you in the LSO but decent to learn on. Nb: my own bass (Β£10k worth of antique German timber) has a fingerboard bevel. You don't need it but it's pretty harmless and I've never needed to get it altered - they were for bowing with floppy gut strings.
  9. My concern for the blues gig at the bike rally tomorrow is the high pollen count and what it will be like in the marquee @ 8:30pm...! I have played a gig before while having a hay fever attack and it's interesting to say the least! It is forecast to be in the mid 80s at the rally - not bad for the north of England. My missus wants us to camp out and stay the whole weekend. That will depend on how bad my hay fever is...

  11. Is the right and only answer
  12. This is good advice, but an easier way to approach this is as an F minor pentatonic if you’re learning it. This is a uptempo bluesy soul track and that scale would fit much better for the fills (obviously need to modulate too).

  14. Cool, Pete my concern for Saturday is the heat. It's going to be in the 90s. There's a bass rig on stage. I'm only bringing an instrument stand, bass and my pedal board. Daryl
  15. Wow,a lot to answer there. Simply, yes you can go passive many have done it. You can have a blend pot but you need to get one with a shaft long enough to get through the body. Allparts do one. Go for 250k pots for the other ones. Again you need them to have long enough shafts to cope with the through body mounting. I can’t remember if there is enough room to accommodate full sized pots in the cavity but if there is I would advise using them. I was unable to obtain CTS 250k pots with long shafts in the UK (they may be available in Italy). Failing that Alpha do full size (and mini) pots with a shaft long enough for through body mounting. For the capacitor, go for 0.047, or 0.1 uf. I wouldn’t try to reuse the pots on the bass; they are pretty horrible and they may be the wrong impedance anyway for a passive setup. I think you are making life very difficult for yourself trying to convert it to a Jazz/Jazz set up. You would have to do a lot of routing, filling and repainting as the Jazz and P pickups are completely different sizes and shapes. Also, I found the quality of the body wood was very poor. It just crumbled when I took a very sharp chisel to it. By the way I was doing that to accommodate a normal size Jess pickup in the bridge position. The OEM jazz pickup on my 4 string was smaller than standard, I suspect this will be the same on the 5 string. It might be worth checking if a Jazz neck pickup will fit, otherwise you have to open up the route and as I discovered, it isn’t easy wood to work with! You are going to have a spare hole, if you go for a passive vol/blend/tone set up. You could us that for a standard mono jack socket and blank off the OEM jack location with a plate. Otherwise you are looking at replacing the OEM stereo barrel jack: there are plenty available but not all will fit in the space Ibanez provide. TBH, I would be inclined to replace the standard Ibanez preamp with a Glockenlang 2-band from Thomann. Reasonable price, very transparent, it has a passive mode with tone control and there is not much volume difference between active and passive mode. It pretty well drops into the Mezzo (I know, I have done it). It would give you much less work and not cost that much more.
  16. Crossposting here to flag that I have this rather gorgeous short scale Fender Jazz up for sale!
  17. Posts like the OP make me remember all the gigs I played in the UK with a 50W amplifier! How things change eh? LOL
  18. I'll give it a cross post over there. I have also listed this on eBay and someone has said they will make a bid on the listing - so this may well be gone by the end of the week.
  19. There is now a bid on this on the eBay listing so this will be sold by the end of the week, in case anyone else has been keeping an eye on it. I'd have to ship that so if you can collect that would be an advantage.
  20. Crazy this is still here. Great bass at a great price... If only it had postage 😞

  24. Lovely looking bass. As well as the truss-rod, do these have carbon rods reinforcing the neck?
  25. I actually prefer a direct sale, but it always depends. Maybe you can send me your ideas via pm.
  26. That looks cool Daryl...! I'm playing a big bike rally with the 'occasional' blues band this weekend. It's a big event, but not anywhere as near as big as that!
