  4. Party in the Barn. This was a ticket do with hog roast included. I'll try to be cheery about, despite missing Iron Maiden (my wife and son said they were fantastic!) So we actually had a really good gig. Nice to be working with a sound guy we knew and it sounded great. It was darned hot and humid though so I'm glad I took my fan. There were about 300 people there, around 200 of them that dragged their tables out of the barn to where there was a very slight breeze. It wasn't exactly the freshest of air though being a working farm 😂 A long, hot night but plenty of dancing. The Rumble was only just ticking over as on stage monitor as everything was through the PA
  5. I have been in 3 bands several times. However, it is down to the individual to recognise if they have time to commit equally to all the bands. In my case the bands didn't each rehearse each week and gigs were few and far between in each of them. Which was what led me to find another band/accept an offer. Plus I would do dep gigs. So if these members are too busy to play in your band due to the workload from the other bands, then they really need to have a conversation as to whether they really do have time to be in multiple bands. Were they in your band first? ie is it lack of gigs that's made them look elsewhere. Did they join your band because you offered them gigs? OR do they just want to turn up and practice the tunes at rehearsals and are not that keen of gigging. If you're getting frustrated then speak to each one separately away from rehearsal and ask them what are they expecting from the band. Find out if you are aligned. If not, start auditioning new members and make it very clear what you're trying to achieve with the band, and what levels of commitment you want, how often you want to gig, rehearse and that you expect people to have *bare-boned the songs before coming to rehearsals. *Don't expect people to learn tunes at home and for the tunes to work straight away. Rehearsals are to iron out the arrangements.

  9. The Gallery has quite a good stock. When I lived in London, I used to take a day off work and head for Bass Direct (straight up the M40, so not a bad journey) on the rare occasions when I wanted to make a major purchase. Go in the week when it's quiet and you can try stuff to your heart's content. Add a nice pub lunch and it's a pleasant, albeit pricey, day out.
  10. We played Summerfest yesterday. There were some pros and cons. It was one of the smaller stages. However it was an upgrade from the last two years after we lost our big stage contact. It was 99° so Summerfest attendance was low. We had an air conditioned trailer with a nice supply of cold drinks. We played a 45-minute set took an hour break then came back and played another 45 minute set. The best part of the gig was we went straight from the stage into the shuttle van. That was cool. Daryl
  11. Deps are not a negative scenario. Deps make gigging more flexible. Pick the right deps and you can have a lot of fun. You don't give your band members much credit for their ability to learn sets for 2 bands. You don't want band members to be in multiple bands, I get it, but your whole outlook on the subject is very negative.

  14. Yes, it’s a shame this happens with Rotosounds, I had it a few times with the E, no idea about G as back in those days the G was like an unwanted/unused free gift.

  16. I do agree Tom, but without the original packaging, I'd be concerned about sending this out into courier world. I also much prefer potential buyers to confirm they are happy with the item in person before they purchase. However, if a buyer would be prepared to arrange collection by their preferred courier I could source appropriate packaging.
  17. Excellent, quite typically although I’m now back as a stand-in for Knock Off they don’t have Rebellion this year so won’t get the chance to see you there, am sure our paths will cross soon tho.
  18. Had a rehearsal booked today. Message from drummer saying he's put his back out, then singer messages saying she's dribbling with cold... But we went ahead anyway - I got the album drum stems on the laptop, plugged it into the PA and we did a 2 basses and guitar rehearsal. And it was excellent! We've ironed out some of the niggles between the 2 basses, and new guitarman now has all structures, and can do the widdley bits with me and solos that fit over funky slap stuff. So extremely worthwhile - should now be fine for Rebellion with 3 more full band rehearsals and warm-up gig to go.

  20. Here you go, Dave - the Richard Sinclair part for 'The Sleeper'. The Breathless album (hereafter known as 'The Pointless Album' was from 1978 and I have to say it completely passed me by (as did a lot of Camel, it transpires). The guitar charts are few and far between, Dave. I am working on my guitar reading and find the same problem that I always had with learning to read bass parts; there is a dearth of interesting material to draw upon (outside of classical guitar which can be a bit, well, naff). So I decided to try putting together charts of my own. It takes a lot longer and, whilst I can do most bass charts without a bass in my hands, but I cannot do the same with the guitar so the process is much more laborious. As for how, I have learned that patience and tenacity are my super powers and, if I start something, I generally keep going until it is finished, even if it is a long drawn out process. I can't complete with the young gunslingers and I don't live where there is a massive amount of Jazz happening but this I can do any time of the day or night with no pressure.   21. Good shout, no I haven’t tried that but I will. I’m enjoying the IEM experience so much I can see custom moulds in my not too distant future.
