  1. Past hour
  2. A possible choice, thanks.
  3. Left here for past touring in the U.K. and Europe, time to ‘go home’ now……the Mono case is a double thick padded most expensive one that will be boxed.
  4. Jeez, I think the battery on my keyboard must be running low or something. Just to clarify, bass is a TRBX604FM and price is £400 not £450!
  5. Purchased on Basschat two years ago and only selling due to upgrade. In near-mint condition with no obvious dings or scrapes. Sounds great and is very playable. The 604 has a 24-fret bolt-on neck and 3-band active EQ which can be switched completely off if you want. It's a lightweight bass which gets great reviews. This is the matte-amber finish. The perspex card showing the controls is easily removed. I've added Schaller-type locking strap buttons. When I got the bass, I had it set up by Chris MacIntyre of Edinburgh (receipt available). No case included. Would prefer collection/meetup. Happy to drive two hours for a definite sale. Will consider posting if you PM me.
  6. Yammy's are OK to look at, my brain will just have to get over the fact that they also make calculators and boat engines! I haven't got anything against the Precision shape, it's just bonus points will be awarded for something that didn't look too traditional. I'd look at the Player Plus PJ and Charvel San Dimas, although from reading around I'd be better off with a Sire. Only issue there is their PJ's look fairly trad and no funky colours are available. Ah cool! Which one did you have? I'm trying to figure out what the best ones in this series are. Some seem to come with Bart's and different preamps etc. Are the early ones made on Korea? Do you know if they're any better? Yeah, completely agree there. Odd isn't it, when I say modern I mean something that sounds like it's 40 year old, not 70! Good point. I suppose it started off the back of listening to Alice in Chains, Pantera and Fugazi - so Spector PJ or MM humbuckers are the general wheelhouse I'm after, although I'd be happy with other humbuckers.
  7. Forgot to include back view and weight (4.22 kg)
  8. Maybe get Bass Direct to handle it for you mate....and allow them to take a small cut for their assistance?
  9. Considering how popular they were at the time you really don't see many original 80's Charvel, Jackson or Kramer PJ basses for sale. Someone must be hoarding them all!
  10. What a stunning bass. Did it sell??
  11. Saw Adam & The Ants at the Dominion Theatre in 1981 on the Prince Charming Tour. My 1st big rock gig and he was a huge influence on me wanting to take up bass.... Great player!
  12. I remember seeing Nile Rogers, might have been that same documentary, saying that seeing Roxy on British TV in costume with their female backing singers was what gave him the idea for how he would present Chic. There's some footage somewhere on. YouTube of Alan Spenner playing his Wal bass with Kokomo at the 1979 Gay Pride bash and they are knocking out a version of We Are Family by Sister Sledge. Alan can even be seen doing a bit of slapping at certain points. All with a lit fag hanging out of his mouth. Very cool.
  13. The toneprint feature is not to be overlooked, I ran one of these for a while and the TC chorus download with my fretless was EPIC. GLWS
  14. 15. Saw something very similar about a year ago. Some kid leaving the local rehearsal studio was carrying one. Had a chat, picked it up (heavy). Action was too high to play and someone had cut in to the back of the neck - assuming to do with the truss rod nut. That example you linked looks in much better condition!
  16. Ideally you need to play a lot of basses to nail down what will suit you. I would add MTD Kingston Z series, high end Ibanez (pref with Nordstrands) and German Warwicks to your list, all of which can be had used for your budget.
  17. Probably to have as a 4ohm pair. When I’ve used mine together they are much more than the sum of their parts 🙂
  18. What’s slug got to with it — Tina Turner
  19. This is a proper bargain. The Sonar 3 Pre is the icing on the cake, I have it fitted to mine. Have a bump ✨️
  20. This looks interesting. A C.G. Winner from the 80s. Anyone familiar with these? I’m not about to buy it, but I am intrigued. A wonderful longscale bass, made in the 80s in the legendary Japanese Matsumoku factory. The walnut body has the classic precision shape, but a continuous maple neck. In addition, string-through for even more sustain. The rare Firepower Blade pickups provide powerful sound. Side rider and groove are made of brass. Everything is original and works flawlessly, the neck is straight, the string position is low, the strings have hardly been used. The bass weighs 4.3 kg and was discontinued some time ago at Berlin Guitars. I had glued the cracks of the attached body parts with a special glue. However, this glue was very thin, so there are a few traces. In addition, small things and dongs. From a distance, however, a very impressive bass. Complete with lightly padded vintage carrying case. Glad to test and pick up in Berlin-Mitte. The goods are sold under exclusion of any warranty. https://www.kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/c-g-winner-bass-vintage-precision-syle-80er-matsumoku-japan/3084532179-74-9668?utm_source=copylink&utm_campaign=socialbuttons&utm_content=app_ios&utm_medium=social
  21. Ah, I've seen that in a Scott's Bass Lessons video interview with [I think] Nicole Row (Incubus' bass player). I seem to recall that her luthier in LA put it in one of her basses.
  22. I've seen a programme 'The Story of Roxy Music' (or a similar title) where Nile Rogers says that he and Bernard Edwards were big Roxy Music fans.
  23. Hi 9lbs 2ozs, the pups look original the cloth covered wiring is untouched and matches the rest of the wiring, hope that helps
  24. Great to see this thread spring back to life.. I'm a lifelong Roxy fan; Virginia Plain was the first 7" single I bought back in 1972.. Watching them performing it on Top of the Pops was as mind blowing to me as an 12 year old kid as seeing Bowie performing Starman on the show that same year! Their influence can't be overstated enough IMHO ; they were a driving force in bringing the glamour back into rock & roll at that time, influenced countless other influential bands/artists like Bowie, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Japan, Duran Duran etc, etc.. And in Ferry and Eno, the had two stunningly original artists and songwriters... My personal preference will always be for their first, brilliantly original run of albums made with the original lineup, as opposed to the late 70s, early 80s sound they morphed into when Ferry brought in different group of technically better (maybe?), but less interesting musicians.. In terms of their bass players, Graham Simpson, John Gustafson and John Whetton resonate most with me in terms of their playing styles, bass lines and sound. (... weird how their surnames all end in 'on'??) And JG was a really significant bass player in the development of the first Wal Pro Bass model back in the mid-70s. Awesome!
  25. Those brilliant early Mex RW P basses. They must surely have all been sold but you never see any. Tried one and should have bought it... it really was very nice.
  26. Today
  27. Shame that this is still here…. Took it out on a gig on Sat and it was as expected…..special!👌🏽 Waiting on a luck owner🤞🏽
