  2. That's the problem! No music store within 200 miles of where I live has a BTB in stock
  3. What year is your 406QM? My Post refers to post 2010 versions
  4. Baffle cut and cab screwed together,( will glue and screw when happy everything fits ) Back panel cut , just need to wait for when the neighbours are out to check for any buzzing or rattles .
  5. So our hearing will survive into the new year at least. Small mercies I suppose. 😬
  6. Personally, I wouldn't do that on this bass. I would do exactly what @Hellzero suggests. If you try to lower the bridge as a whole, you will need to chisel/rout both into the neck extension AND the body sides to accommodate the two bridge 'wings'. I would shim it under the bridge, say 1mm, bolt the neck back on, sand/chisel the neck extension back flat with the body, string it and see where the action is. If it's still too high, take the neck off again, add another shim, bolt it back and flatten the bridge wedge again. Externally, the bass will look exactly the same as it did originally - which is not the case if you try to sink the whole bridge into the body.
  7. Hi all, I’ve been working on a little side project playing baselines on the baritone sax. keen to get any feedback, ideas, inspo from any bass players / Bari sax players. most of all just having fun but would be cool to set up a YouTube channel with full songs and provide sheet music. 8. I actually prefer a direct sale, but it always depends. Maybe you can send me your ideas via pm.
  9. There may be a valid reason we've decided not to have a separate International sales forum to differentiate it in the past, but since a certain political event happened and the impact this has on importing goods to the UK, it does make a lot of sense, as I imagine many don't want to wade through listings they have no intention of following up due to the complications of it all. Sad state of affairs really, but it is what it is.
  10. Hi everyone. Just an update, I’ve been messing around with the idea of playing bass lines on the Bari and pretty happy with my progress so far. Feel free to check out my insta to see what I’ve been doing.any feedback welcome! https://www.instagram.com/reel/DQOyRRFjBJV/?igsh=MXVzbXUyZGZuOWI5dA== https://www.instagram.com/reel/DO_ZkoMDDqY/?igsh=aGxmOHg0ZHR6YTY0 https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLpvVdsNEvi/?igsh=MTd6ODE0djdwZzR0

  12. Pretty straightfoward... it needs the short toggle switch. Managed to do it via the F hole - tie some twine onto the old switch to help fishing in the new one... Hagstrom Viking Bass switching LAYOUT 01C.pdf Hagstrom Viking Bass switching LAYOUT 03A toggle.pdf
  13. This is me as well. I would also add I bought physical copies of the albums from the artists I like for years. I have them already. Any new bands I discover are via Spotify pretty much exclusively. I try and see as many live as possible and really does it matter if I buy a CD or a TShirt at their gig? It would only be one or the other in any case so T Shirt it is.
  14. That's the truth of it. AI is simply another tech tool that will provide some people with new opportunities, allow others to continue as they are, and no doubt piss off a few people. I wasn't around when Dylan and The Band caused uproar with electric instruments in folk, but I was around when synths appeared and people described it as the end of music, when digital recording appeared and people described it as the end of music, when sampling appeared an people described it as the end of music, and when pitch correction appeared and, well, you get the idea. I've no doubt there were similar emotions when recording technology, amplification, electric instruments etc were introduced To me the problem with this thread is the idea that something in the artistic/performance space 'overtaking' something else is in any way meaningful. It's simply change.
  15. 9pm Til I Come - ATB
  16. isn't it everyone's favourite compressor? best compressor on this earth, second best pedal second only to SANSAMP
  17. Don't stop - Fleetwood Mac
  18. Perhaps a Sandberg but not a Rick 4030
  19. A sound suggestion, so I've sent off a 'Report', hoping to get an 'official' reply to the idea. Now, we wait...
  20. Now £1250 Just when you think life is agreeably predictable it can throw you a curved ball. I'm faced with having to move and downsize considerably. 7 basses is several too many. This lovely instrument from Mike Walsh in Essex is rather special. Tonally it is much modelled on the Aria SB1000. I traded it from Mark, the original owner, with another Zoot that he had built and sold on to me. Incestuous. 32" scale with a 7/8 sized Zoot body. English spalted beech on a light weight American swamp ash body. Spalted beech facing on the headstock. The neck is roasted Canadian flamed maple with purple heart stringers and ebony veneers. Hipshot hardware. And now for the electronic components that were used to replicate the SB1000 tone: A Rautia MB-1E pickup. These are no longer available. Prostheta’s BB Noisekiller preamp. A 6 way Varitone circuit built to purpose by Mike. The bass has added tonal variety courtesy of a series/parallel switch, an active/passive switch and a passive tone. It isn't a one trick pony by any means but some of the settings produce distinctly 80's sonics unlike I've heard from a bass before. The bass is very light, 7 1/4 lbs on bathroom scales. Nut width is 40mm and string spring at the bridge 16mm. Complete with a hard case as shown. Can be tried and collected from Kendal. Will include an unused set of Newtone strings. I will courier to UK addresses at cost. Mark's build thread is here: Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Peter

  21. Anyone using one of these as an IEM signal splitter? Any thoughts positive or negative? I currently have 3 individual boxes rackmounted which work flawlessly, however I think replacing them with this would do the same job and up my split channels from 3 to 8 in the same rack space, which would be worth the money. The fact they have the input and XLR output on the front side makes cabling much easier.
  22. Because this is BC and GAS is part of its raison d’être . Wilcock and Serek* shorties lay ahead . *It was seeing and hearing a Serek shortie that pulled me into the short scale rabbit hole.
  23. If I was to buy another bass, it would almost certainly be a shorty.
  24. Its a good way to discover bands you might never have heard of. Today I found an excellent post metal band called Humanfly who were listed as a related artist under a band called Dimscua who I discovered as a related artist under Cult Of Luna. So thats two bands who will sell me gig tickets and a t shirt next time they play Bristol because I found them through streaming. You don't have to use it if you dont want but its there for those who do and its not going to disappear.
