Using column PA speakers as stage monitors?
Bill Fitzmaurice replied to Beedster's topic in PA set up and use
Not necessarily. Running instruments through the PA in small to medium rooms isn't about volume, it's about dispersion. No matter how loud the drummer plays the higher frequencies will always be coming from his kit and won't fill the room. The same applies to all the instruments. Where levels and balance are concerned leave that to your sound man, because he can hear what's out front, you can't. Most of the time my sound man is me, so the only way I can gauge what's out front is to have that same mix in the monitors. If I didn't have them I'd have nothing to go by. I just high pass them at 150-200Hz to keep the mud out. If you do it right you're unaware of what the PA out front is doing while on stage it sounds just like a good studio session. On the subject of drummers and big monitors, in one of the worst examples I've ever heard the drummer had a 2x18 monitor right next to him so he could feel his kick drum. The trouble was with every kick it fed back though the mains and the ringing boom masked everything else. The sound man was clearly an idiot, having no idea as to what was happening or how to fix it. I left halfway through the show, unable to handle it any longer. Now one could say that wouldn't happen with an experienced drummer who had a clue, but it was Max Weinberg. I'd say it's a safe bet that Bruce's crew does a better job. ☺️ -

Please read. I recently sold this neck on ebay only to have the buyer return it to me today. His reason being there is slight chip in the lacquer at the bottom edge of the skunk stripe behind the second fret which would make his thumb uncomfortable when playing? To be totally honest I'd never noticed it when photographing it for the listing, I'm not saying it wasn't there, but I didn't pick up on it if it was. See ebay listing here. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/135803725107 The neck had been stood on a 5 way rack for around two months, so it I suppose it could have had a knock. Anyway, on running my thumb over it cannot see how it would make anyone uncomfortable. I thought ok, the buyer isn't happy, I'll accept the return, even though I state no returns. I didn't want a ? hanging over my 100% ebay feedback. The Return. It has arrived back with damage to the lacquer on the headstock, something that was certainly not there when I sent it! The buyer claims the was damage was done in transit on it's way to him, though he never mentioned this extra damage during any contact for the return, even after he'd taken a photo of it himself??? The neck was well packaged and internally protected with bubble wrap. it was returned in the same packaging and there is no signs of damage to the box. Obviously I cannot prove this, but I suspect the buyer caused this extra damage in an attempt to make his case stronger in the event that I may refuse to accept the return. This neck is totally playable and the truss rod works perfectly. Due to the extra lacquer chip, I'm putting it up at a lower price than it was on ebay. Photo's were taken for the ebay listing, apart from the final two close ups. Price includes P&P, Any questions please feel free to message me.

Got any pics of the offending area?

They mentioned it on their FB page last night:

@neepheid thanks man. I’ve had a peek inside and I think it’s cracked. The soldering around it looks unhealthy, milky white.

That's good to hear. I can't see my Helix screen at all in direct sunlight.

I've seen a few folks with the 57 wrapped and tucked under the bridge, and I think Nick Blacka from GoGo Penguin does this. My DB teacher used to use the SE-X1 for recording his bass into the DAW, obviously not the same scenario as live work, so I'm not sure about feedback resistance, etc, but it always sounded ok.

Yes, there's a new version of the Katana Go. They've redesigned the shell, moving the volume knob, but otherwise, identical inside and same sounds. I had one of those Pandora's too - the PX4D. Great sounding little unit. I wish I had never sold it sometimes. I don't have mine to hand, but I believe you can simply control the external music volume on the playback device itself. No need for a mixer in the Katana Go.

I’ve done 2 outdoor gigs so far, one being very sunny and didn’t have an issue.

Something Old & Something New - Your Recordings.
Baloney Balderdash replied to xilddx's topic in Share Your Music
I finally pulled myself together to upload "Hole Song" by an old musical project Janosch, that I was one half of together with Markus (Jesper Marcussen), on YouTube. Originally released on the compilation "Danelectro" Lead vocals and rhythm guitar: Jesper Marcussen Lead guitars (except guitar solo*), bass and backing vocals: Jacob Læby (me) Backing vocals: Michelle Kappel Drum machine, synth, *guitar solo, production and mixing: Per Chnöeldh And genre wise we are around some relatively lo-fi indie rock/pop. Recorded somewhere around 2001. (cover/video art is from the 4 track EP "Inhere Outhere" by Janosch, that was released previously to this track, I shot the cover photo) - And the latest actual worthwhile serious track that I made, although not that new, is a remix of the track "Elastic2" by Fencepost, per request. But this is with my solo drone/ambient project, Fjernsind, and something entirely different, experiemental dark ambient/drone. Rather radical remix might I add, and created and released in July 2019. I even made an actual animated video of sorts for it: -
From this pic I found online, the socket does appear to be soldered direct to the main board...

Crack it open. See what's happening around the power jack. If you're lucky you could reflow the solder joints, if unlucky and the socket is actually broken then it could probably be easily replaced. If super unlucky, and the power socket is attached to a board, the board has had a mischief befall it such as a crack, a broken trace or a solder pad come away. That's less fun. You might be able to bodge around it.
