Trace Elliot - Rescue & Restore (and bargain finds)
Hypo199 replied to SimonK's topic in Amps and Cabs
I bagged it....had to take a punt on this as I've coveted TE gear since I was a kid in a band who longed after the decent stuff, but had to make do and mend with whatever we could find in house clearance sales. -

I wonder, why do you all feel compelled to judge these musicians on their facial expressions, posture, apparel, etc.?your comments say more about you than it does about them. Can’t it be enough for them to just make music that is interesting , or beautiful, or challenging , or provocative . And if it doesn’t check one of those boxes for you, then it just doesn’t . Reminds me of a relative of mine who , no matter what they are eating, has to find it “fantastic” otherwise it sucks. Can’t it just be food?

Tested them all, they’re all very much in the realm of tone sweeteners but for me it’s really elevated the Anagram to where I can’t fault it tonally or claim to be missing anything. The items in the pack Original no knob Sansamp Bass DI Juan Alderetes SVT DI Zerofive Audio Low Rider JHS Punchline Mojohand Cream Pie SGFX Beta Mk1 (and in combination with the Cream Pie) Cranborne Audio Camden EC1 (3 settings) My preferred settings on the Subdecay Noise Theory (Which hasn’t quite nailed the pedal but it’s better than the fuzz I had dialed in on the anagram) Essentially all my favourite pedals and preamps and I’ve now just got them as an option in the Anagram.

Flipping basses for profit – fair game or not cool?

The practice might prevent individuals with a "lesser" income from nabbing a bargain is the only thing I would say along with it can in certain instances over-inflate market-value. But yes we know it's not illegal. -

Obscure Musical Backwaters - The Great SGC Nanyo Thread
puntobawono replied to Happy Jack's topic in Bass Guitars
Hi all, I recently bought this lovely SB331, its see through black has faded to lovely see through mocha. Its serial number is 980895 which i believe means that this guitar was made in 1998. I understood that Nanyo went bust around 1996 and shortly afterwards production moved to Korea. However the cavity cover of this bass says "Made in Japan", so were there indeed still Bass collection basses made in Japan post 1996, if so fo we know who made them. Thank you so much for the information. -
Just bought a lovely Maya fretless off Nik, very well packed for delivery and probably the best protected bass I have ever received. as always a pleasure dealing with one of the best here on Basschat, good comms and uo to date details of the transanction...Thanks Nik, oh and a wonderful bass, just perfect

This is because the answer to your question is no. I think swapping "received " for "perceived" is more to the point. The instrument does what we tell it to. Of all the gigs I've been to I've never had an issue with the bassist's weapon of choice. If I have any issues other than sound engineering it's usually the player to "blame" 1964 all-original P-bass with flats or not.

I was in a three piece a few moons back where the guitard was insanely loud even at rehearsal. Live in a pub i kept upgrading my gear until I had an Ashdown 300 head and Ashdown 8x10 cab. He simply wopped his Vox combo up even more and the drummer was losing weight sweating his n*ts off. Band I'm in now playing covers I'm using an old Laney 100 watt 1 x15" combo and it's plenty loud enough because we're all grown up.

I really do wish they would release a 5 version without the fanned frets.

Yep, very enjoyable... Well played all round and a nice arrangement. Rodner Padilla is a very accomplished Bassist. The 'C4 Trío' he is involved with is a nice listen as well:- 1 reply

I'm really enjoying these plugins, but my poor 12 year old MacBook Pro is really showing its age 😅 I'm having to do a lot of rendering in track to get a track mixed. Sounds loads better than my previous attempt though. I've reamped guitars with ToneX, drums have all been redone, bass sounds better than before. Very impressed.

Hey all, I've just bought a board from Seva, no issues at all. It was a good price, there were clear comms and a quick and well packaged delivery. I'd happily deal with again no issues. Peace.

Just curious why you were concerned about the pups not set slanting? I haven't had a P bass yet that sounded good with them set as per Fender spec. My Player series sounds nicely balanced with them nearly flat with the E only to spec. My old 2000 Standard Squier has E to spec, A to about 8/64 and D and G also about 8/64. They're all as different as girls' chesticles but still get you smiling with a bit of tweaking.
