  1. Past hour
  2. I used one of these years ago in an arty surf band project to make some great sounds. Very versatile. GLWTS!
  3. Very nice Dave. You guys really know how to fill a dance floor. Daryl
  4. Bona: Il Nuovo Bona Vol.B: In Chiave di Basso Ricordi Hal Leonard "Il Nuovo Bona Vol.B: In Chiave di Basso" is a famous music theory and solfeggio method by composer Pasquale Bona, published by Ricordi, specifically focused on reading and learning in the bass clef (or F clef), essential for instrumentalists such as pianists, cellists, bassists and organists, offering progressive exercises for rhythmic and melodic division.
  5. Pardon my re-animating this old thread, but... My Hartke Kickback 12's amplifier started needing service and I had this head sitting on my desk. I had recently swapped out the original speaker of the combo since it had started rattling, and the new speaker (Hartke neo/Hydrive) is 4 ohms, so it draws the full 200w from the Elf. This little Velcro-cobble-together parlor rig has really been working out great for small gigs, acoustic/electric mini-band gigs, rehearsals and small room rock band gigs. I really like the sound, and though it's no Series 6 it does deliver a warm-like, gentle punch and throws really well. I've gotten very positive remarks about it, so it is delivering. This is the best small gig-rig yet, for me.
  6. It may be an error on the site, but I assumed it was a stock clearance item. Given a 4/4 case would cost you £100 it seems like a good deal. Hope it works out for you guys!
  7. Yeah that's annoying. I don't want or need one but £198 with 10% off that would be too good to miss.
  8. My mate has a Martinez hammer, it's great. Cost him over £300 yet he doesn't get a penny extra per nail than me with my old £22 Estwing or one of the young lads with a £9 Stanley. Hosco are a company marketing to the guitar 'hobbyist/luthier'; they don't manufacture themselves but buy from others. Stew Mac do the same. For a reliable cost effective tool it's best to bypass the niche sellers and go to manufacturing brands or specialist industry suppliers; for files that's fabrication and mould makers.
  9. Apologies if this is not the correct area! I have a custom made bass body that id like to get planed down a few mm. I wouldn't have the news to buy my own thicknesser and my local builders merchants have all told me they only plane their own timer (understandable as I've seen horror stories with stray nails destroying blades) Could anyone recommend anywhere that would offer this service? The bass in question is below, please be aware that the lighting has made some kind of optical illusion that makes it look like a well known design (in real life it is a BC rich war bastard stabby McGee shape)
  10. Worst thing about nut work is the smell of bone dust... especially as a vegetarian!
  11. Wise words indeed....
  12. Well Santa brought me the set of ‘Holmer’ nut files. I’ll practice on some suitable material before risking my real nuts😅
  13. Sunny Afternoon and Saturday Night's All Right for Fighting are both fun to play.
  14. Today
  15. A lovely looking bass and I can only echo Owen’s sentiments. I hope that your financial situation improves dramatically and rapidly
  16. These are from a little thing I did with friends recently just to gig the Hamer 12 and do some Cheap Trick songs. First time for years on lead vocals for me, no rehearsal with the drummer, it's a little thrown together but it was a lot of fun. A friend's wife took the video.
  17. I have an enormous collection of files. I have diamond ordinary swiss files of various qualities. I always rough slots with a junior hacksaw. I then widen out with files. I finish to depth with a scalpel or other very sharp blade.
  18. I understand your curiosity ! but I'd rather not do it myself since the ramp seems to be securely attached to the body. I mean I don't think there's any problem removing it but perhaps during a routine visit to a luthier ? Thanks for your comment!
  19. This sucks. I am sorry to hear it.
  20. Definitely US. This came from a parts bass made by a Sadowsky employee. No real markings on it to identify as such. The pickups were scrubbed out and headstock left blank for fear of repercussions. I still have the neck - Brazillian rosewood fingerboard, Graphtech nut, Schaller tuners.
  21. You can get VERY cheap digital oscilloscopes these days. Plenty good enough for detecting hum on power rails.
  22. No matter what bass I play, or what head, speaker or combo, my signature sound is exactly the same.... flat, boring and uninspiring.... Guitarists love it
  23. Made in Japan Metallic black 9 lbs 6 in weight 24 frets Rosewood finger board Frets in good condition JBE P/J pickups I had the electrics changed to a Glockenklang 2 band preamp a couple of months ago as the original was temperamental (it is included. If you know what you are doing with a soldering iron you might be able to get this back to original spec). Some chips but nothing major Gig bag Pointy headed goodness It’s the first bass I’ve ever had that just ‘hangs’ right. No reaching with my left hand. Right hand placement is just ‘right’. I’m only selling as I’m going to have major difficulty paying my mortgage and bills and I’m not in a band, so it’s this or my cheaper, improved (bridge, pickups) Squier VM Jaguar V, but the Charvel will go more towards the bills.
  24. Cool little phaser pedal from the JHS budget line, was on my board for the last 8 months or so but I just prefer the more simple Phase 90 for my use, the less knobs the less chance of me fiddling during gigs! It can pull off the Phase 90 vibe and also do much more extreme sounds with the feedback knob switched on. Pretty much as new except having Velcro on the bottom, with the original box and bits and pieces. Price includes UK postage, will knock £5 off for local collection
  25. Thanks for that - it's definitely worth trying, and would fit with the suspicions that the foot pedal switches need cleaning - if they do, maybe other jacks and switches do
