Not wanting to get into the detail of this, I've used Ashdown Amps (not exclusively) for 10 years. Whatever issue I've had (very few) have been dealt with by Ashdown. I did lend my amp to someone and found that, on return the Fans had failed. Mid Gig! = meltdown. Dave looked at it, replaced the main board , made sure it was all OK and sent it back .... fixed. Wouldn't even accept a postage fee .... i.e. Zero Cost!. Did mention that the case was slightly "skewwhiff" .... so I reckon it was dropped!!! Now works better than ever! So, i think it's reasonable to endorse the idea that Ashdowns Customer Service is Excellent. I hope they recognize that this is a major strength and differentiator.

Last week I ordered a Vintage V51 in 2 tone sunburst (for my Police tribute) But this turned up They've made an error at the factory and a few of these have snuck through. Shame, it's actually nice but no good to me

I've just bought some strings from Lee. Great comms, easy deal (again!), quick delivery. Many thanks.

Right… update time. Ziricote / sapele body now oil-sanded to 2500 grit and I may have accidentally summoned a small woodland spirit. The ziricote has gone full “brooding Victorian villain”, dark and dramatic, while the sapele is glowing like it’s just been told it’s the favourite child. The carve is doing that hologram thing where it moves every time you tilt it. I’ve spent an unreasonable amount of time just rotating it under the light whispering “oof”. Edges are basically glass now. If this gets any smoother it’ll need a warning label. No stain, no funny business – just oil, patience, and far too much staring at it. Hard wax oil going on next to lock it in and give it that silky satin feel without killing the depth. If this one doesn’t sound good, at least it can sit in the corner looking expensive and judging everyone. MGCS – Made to Play, Built to Last.

MK Studio P EUB, with stand and original soft case, in very good condition. Now £1100. (This bass is too good to give away, so if it doesn't sell soon I'm going to keep it). I bought this from a fellow Basschatter last year as a tour backup for my Yamaha SLB 300, but it was never required, so has had very little use apart from a few hours practicing. Great design. Really well made and compact, and very quick to set up. Sounds great straight into an amp, and even better with a decent preamp. I wouldn't want to risk shipping this bass so collection in person only. I can rendezvous within 15 or so miles of Southend if necessary (M25 Thurrock Services?). Might consider trade for a Fender American Professional 2 P.Bass with maple fingerboard, in very good condition. PM for more details. (NB, the position markers are self adhesive stickers and can easily be removed).

I didn’t expect the grain to pop like it did. It’s certainly a lesson learned for the future. I have a lovely couple of slabs of Lebanese cedar which one I don’t intend to top whilst the other will get curly maple ambrosia

My Solution. I now use an Accu-case AC130 https://www.thomann.co.uk/arriba_cases_ac130_bag_330x330x355mm.htm. I've added foam "pocket" at the bottom for wires and added a "separator" to the top of the amp to avoid scratches (in and out of the bag) . works a treat. At around £20.00!

It’s not that modern lightweight amps aren’t fixable, it’s because you don’t have the necessary skills, experience and knowledge to do so. That’s been pretty clear in both your comments ant then your follow-up attitude. You will first need to understand how it works before understanding why it doesn’t work. Then you can fix the part(s) that are responsible for the problem. Does the fan work outside the amp on its nominal working voltage? Is there a proportional control circuit involved? Is it normal for the fan not to run until a specific threshold temperature? Does the fan start running when the temperature of a specific area or component rises above a threshold? Have you identified that there even is a real problem rather than an assumed problem? These are all questions that need to be answered before a QUALIFIED service tech begins a repair.

How to Mod a Joyo Oxford Sound to Bypass Cab Sim Filter?
LukeFRC replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Effects
the good news is they are al traced and mods journaled - try searching on freestompboxes - you'll probably need to do a basic tracing of the Joyo to follow the circuit to find the right place. -

Sadly this has contributed to its undoing. I used to go in there lots, when I worked uptown. Hobgoblin were just up the street a bit, on the opposite side.- 4 replies

Mairants occupied a site that was guaranteed to be part of a major redevelopment scheme ... the whole area around the old Rathbone Street sorting office is gradually being demolished and replaced by enormous mixed-use blocks. Given that they were off piste anyway, I was surprised they stayed in business (at that location) for as long as they did. My guess would be that (unusually) they owned the freehold of their building and were waiting for a staggeringly ginormous offer to sell.- 4 replies

Hellzero replied to Kiwi's topic in Graphite neck - ordering
The photos of the necks are not correct when it comes to the headless 4 a it's the headless 5, the MM with adjustment at the headstock are the photos of the ones with adjustment at the heel, only one photo for the custom order with a messy environment, as already noticed, isn't doing justice to your precision work. In fact put high quality photos of the real product, not a generic photo of the model type. Avoid the messy environment for the photos in the F.A.Q. too. So far it looks like another typical Chinese crap purveyor according to the photos. Correct this, and you'll instantly build a better reputation. Remember that you only get one chance to make a good first impression... -
I have an even increased level of respect for my local Huntingdon shop after visiting Peach. I picked out a MIM jazz to try and the setup was unplayable. Action was super high…I don’t think anything had been done with the truss rod. I guess I don’t mind all the security measures, but, having been told all the basses had been set up, I was disappointed, and won’t be back. 5 minutes with the proper tools would have made all the difference. Not the case ever at Music Street. It’s a lot smaller shop but stocks good kit that is always ready to play. First impressions fail….
