    SEI bass

    Yummy! With a D tuner for E?
  3. Yeah I get that, certainly less pressure my way, learning 12 when given 3 than being given 10 to start with. But being given 10 can be a good way of looking at both the commitment of the auditionee, and their ability, if given a fairly wide range of material. I think the most I’ve been given for an audition was 6, tho was 15 years ago so could have been more.
  4. Shortscale? J neck? Gloriously pink? Thank the big man that it's active or else I might have been struck down with serious GAS! Great score, enjoy
  5. I changed my PBass bridge to the Gotoh 201B-4 and it’s a step up in quality The Mexican Fender Player II has a very low quality standard bridge, in fact the new standard range PBass from Indonesia has a decent bridge so I left it stock I’ve had HiMass and they are too bulky and the Gotoh is a perfect upgrade and swop. Better saddles, screws and no sideways movement which was a reason to change too
  6. Something to consume by Die Spitz. Seamlessly blending stoner metal and punk. Absolutely brilliant. They've got some thoroughly disgusting bass tones. The band members are all multi instrumentalists and regularly swap instruments so theres various playing styles going on with each instrument.
  7. If a US Fender I’d look at the bridge that currently comes on the Professional series. If Mexican then the Fender Hi-Mass or Gotoh 201B-4 are both decent, and reasonably priced.
  8. Oh also, meant to ask - I've never heard of loaning pedals as an option. Where's that done?
  9. Ahh, but showing you're keen and going for extra credit isn't the same thing as being given 10 songs to learn straight off the bat for an audition...
  10. I’m not so sure, last audition I had was told of 3 songs off the bands album. Got to the audition, they asked me where I wanted to start and my reply was let’s do the album start to finish. My thoughts are it doesn’t hurt to learn a good few songs even if I don’t get the job, as surely I must like those songs in order to be auditioning for a band that plays them. I did get the job btw.
  11. Nice! Many happy returns! I tried one in a shop which was a bit of a lemon (either battery or bad wiring) so I can't give much input. How's the balance? On the knee it felt a bit headstock heavy due to tiny body and larger headstock.
  12. Right, let's get @paul_5gate out of the way. The way I read it, I reckon the majority ruling is T2 failure, but still OK for T1. Everyone OK with this ruling?
  13. Vincent - Don Maclean
  14. Oooh interesting on the Spectracomp. Simple is certainly appealing. Maybe I phrased the question incorrectly, I guess I was more looking for inspiration and examples of what works for others. Appreciate that taste and YMMV elements will of course colour recommendations - but as someone with less experience in using practice rooms and shaping tone in this scenario I thought I'd see what solutions others had found
  15. I think it's different for originals bands. All the charity gigs I have done with various originals bands over the years have been multi-band affairs that put us in front of a receptive audience, many of whom may not have seen us before. Often the charity aspect of these events takes a bit of back seat, the bands get paid expenses and it is first and foremost about the music, then about raising awareness about the cause(s) being supported. The fact that there will be money going to the Charity afterwards is a well-appreciated bonus. It appears to be a completely different world to churning out a couple of covers sets to a potentially uninterested group of people.
  16. Stunning bass, and excellent playing. 👏
  17. Now reduced to £500, there's something on ebay that I want
  18. Yes, Happy Birthday - you certainly have a diamond of a partner there And congrats on the arrival of some serious pinkification!
  19. Fit a “top hat” to the underside. Sorted. I’ve got one I’ll never use if you want me to pop it in the post, Rob.
  20. A simple to use is tce Spectracomp. A suitable drive, that's a complicated question. Depending on your bass, and taste, the options are practically endless. Without trying it is very hard to buy anything. I once loaned many units and tried them side by side against each other. One sounded good with one bass, another with another bass. Any comment saying this is the thing should be treated with doubt.
  21. Is there any benefit to putting this speaker on poles at all? I happen to have a pair of Quickset Hercules tripods for astronomy use. These will easily take 40Kg each and probably closer to 60Kg without breaking sweat. No idea how to, but thats a different problem to solve... Rob
  22. Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
  23. I'm winding everything back now and having a clearcut of all the stuff I'm unlikely to ever use again. I'm open to sensible offers for any of these - the £900 shown in the listing is for the whole lot, collected. Prices include postage to UK addresses apart from the Take 5 - please PM to discuss collection or delivery options for that. Given that this is a clearout, I'm not really looking for swaps but feel free to let me know if you have anything - to be honest, it's unlikely but you never know! Sequential Take 5 analogue synth - immaculate condition, boxed, upgraded to the latest firmware and patches £750 Zoom R12 portable multitrack recorder - bought to record the band at rehearsal and only used once before the band imploded. Boxed, immaculate £150 Roland VT4 voice transformer - bought when I entertained fantasies of singing backing vox. Again, used just the once and then retired along with the rest of my dreams. £125 UNO drum machine - a great little drum machine, fantastic for giving us a basic beat whenever the drummer failed to make rehearsals. Light usage, boxed and immaculate condition £100 Waldorf Streichfett string synth - surprisingly versatile little synth that does a great job of recreating the sound of 70s string synths. Immaculate, boxed £150 Thanks for looking - if you have any questions or would like photographs, please PM

  24. Your thoughts are similar to mine. I know that I’m privileged to be able to give away my time for free, or at my own expense, when I want to. It’s something I couldn’t have done when I had big bills to pay and a young family.
