  3. I'd been a bass player for about 19 years when I picked up a GSR200b by chance at a local shop and thought it was not only good, but actually too good not to buy right there and then. I'm sure there are some individual examples out there that have issues, but that can be said of just about any production bass. In my experience the neck was smooth and straight, the fretwork was well done, the hardware was solid, the pickups and preamp sounded good, and I thoroughly enjoyed playing it alongside other basses that cost anything up to 20 times more. If you get a good one there's no reason it can't be much more than just a beginner bass, and the only reason I don't still own mine is because I switched back to playing 5 strings exclusively and couldn't quite justify the space to store it.
  4. That would have been a knock out bass🤪
  5. When told "Pre EQ only" I just say "Sure"..... then send it Post EQ. I then get the usual "Your bass sounds great"... 🙄🤦‍♂️🤣👍

  8. Sold Jimmy my trex power bank ..top bass chatter with good coms and fast payment Thanks mate 🤘
  9. It was about fifteen years ago , in a local vintage shop. The owner felt a used Ric should go for about $1200. Didn’t realize that that 4002 was worth considerably more. A couple of friends passed too , we laugh about our stupidity today …
  10. I have an ALU212 which is a breeze to carry to gigs. Functional unit.
  11. Getting a first bass you like and get on with and actually want to pick up and play can be a key factor in whether you end up sticking the course when you first start learning. It sounds like for the OP that's the Ibanez. Any bass at any price point can develop fret buzz, generally if it happens it'll be down to envrionmental factors and it can almost always be fixed pretty quickly and inexpensively either by a tech or by the player with the help of a couple of youtube vids.
  12. Buy the bass that feels best and is most likely to make you want to play it.
  13. Both pick and fingers for me. I never use the ultra low. Yes, great heads. Not only do they sound glorious when pushed--they look as good as they sound.
  14. I have one of those as well--to go with my 212. Fantastic head when pushed and the tubes start compressing. Sweet! Problem for me is I never need t be that loud. My V-4HB sounds different. Bigger and smoother, whereas the V-4b AV is brighter and has more mids (both being flat). The old BH has the same pre as as SVT, the new (old old) v-4bs are a little different.
  15. Hi All, Anyone know of a company or one man in a shed that can make a custom thumb rest that mounts to the screws holes of the pickguard of a Rickenbacker 4001V63? I ordered the standard one from Retrovibe (ThumbChum) and then found out it doesn't fit, also checked with RickySounds before buying theirs and they've confirmed it won't fit. Whilst I can manage without, it would be nice to have one.
  16. What a bass here.... looks amaizing,I bet sounds fantastic. 🤩
  17. Just want to chime in on the Fender play sub. Ignore that and sign up to sbl instead. I wish I was a beginner again just so I could learn from their content. Buy the bass that feels good. I’ve owned too many basses but my Fender stuck around because it was the only bass I actually tried in a store before buying. Don’t make my mistake and just buy what your heroes play.
  18. Ampeg Heritage 410. It was more money but well worth it. I like Ampeg amps, but cabs are a mixed bag for me. Some like the classic 410HFL suck in my opinion. This one if fantastic. My Ampeg 212 is a great cab as well and would be my next favorite.
  19. Brooks would be a good choice. I'd also recommend Grainger as Darren and Gavin are excellent, plus have an engineering background so making bespoke parts won't be a big deal. I'd also suggest looking at Waghorn. I got a quote for a 12 string from them just before I actually got a Hamer 12 string. Off the shelf, I'd get the Dug Pinnick Schecter. Avoid Gretsch as not only is it stupidly expensive it uses a 4 saddle bridge. Good luck with intonation.
  20. MXR M85 bass distortion. Great distortion pedal in good condition. Velcro on the bottom. £90 delivered. Any questions just ask 👍

  22. Not sure about a digital route, but if it's Jack in on the HX then this should work. you'd also need a splitter. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Certified-Headphone-Lightning-Earphone-Converter-White/dp/B09KMSS6PF/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?crid=2TOEJ8E75A4FI&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.26rnV1QdHplIhYqjbG9PsShynly2kgaVAuiIi1eMZ8VPwAMyoFGQPmxCQQfD0t2a39TQbyhVxDOUS5wHzozMk5OLAy7nYeNTi8b4kmhQ6isKuih_wodTFHZHss9RwdHfq054XZXJKaKmRc_YfDgZjK5jYePJRhJM-8Y338BGArqfAsQw8hjb1hHYEbquW6glDglaBmX4gnS-_n7xjz9NAoA3Damja7ATsKv6B823tEs.0ObXaNlqo93IUC6nOodqy0ALrjmF6JVPSOwf_jdoYpA&dib_tag=se&keywords=lightning%2Bheadphone%2Badapter&qid=1753963194&sprefix=lightnig%2Bhe%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-1-spons&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9hdGY&th=1
  23. I would agree with @neepheid and that may is doing an awful lot of work here. All of the comments are spot on. We have different basses for all sorts of reasons but often just because we want to. Nothing wrong with that.
  24. Well-used 250w combo with 115 speaker. It’s a bit battered; the vinyl has some small tears; the corner protectors are missing from the top (but the bottoms are in place); the post/pre DI button is missing. But it sounds great and only weighs 17kg!
  25. Use of the word "may" noted and approved. But we're getting ahead of ourselves here.
  26. Hi all, just bought this ( like it’s just arrived yesterday) but it’s just not for me. I’ve put a set of flats on it (La Bella’s) but will sell for the same price(minus the £50 flats) and will provide the rounds it came with. Thanks Dave
