  11. escape road Fender does sell replacement parts under their own brand, but a lot of listings on eBay are aftermarket or third-party. Unless the listing specifically says “Fender OEM” or shows part numbers that match Fender’s official spec, it might not be an actual Fender part. If you want verified Fender components, check Fender’s official parts lookup or ask a dealer to confirm the exact part you need.
  12. As a pick player I'd suggest Bobby Vega
  13. Have you tried creating a Spotify playlist that highlights lesser-known artists?
  14. Hmmm first of all @Woodinblack is right, I've left my RCF M18 on overnight and for several days without a problem and you should be able to do that as well. This is not something that is going to go away and it willl happen at a gig sooner or later. I don't know where you bought it but I'd be asking for help and a possible loan of a repacement until it's fixed. You can't risk your band's reputation with dodgy gear, losing a regular venue is potentially worth more than the cost of a new mixer. Heat often affects components and soldered joints due to expansion. Many/most intermittent faults are affected by heat so turning the mixer off will probably give you a few more minutes before the fault cuts in. There's nothing very surprising going on here, and it was a good shout to try it, but personally I wouldn't take that mixer to a gig. Imagine if you'd just managed to fill the dance floor and had the audience fully engaged and then cleared the dance floor for 10 mins half an hour before the gig was due to finish anyway. Do you have any mates who could lend you a mixer? At a pinch I have a backup M18 I hope to never use. You can pm me if that would help

  21. IME it depends on both the bass and your playing technique. Tapered B-strings suit my 5-string basses and how I play (quite hard), to the point where I have been considering getting Newtone to make me a custom set with a tapered E string as well. You get more choices with non-tapered strings, but if you can find a set with a tapered B that works for you and gives an improvement in the feel and sound of the string then go for it. Remember also that just because a particular type of string works on one bass, it does not immediately follow that it will as good on a different one.
  22. When I owned a Jazz bass, my favourite ever sound was when I fitted some old (ish) DiMarzio pickups. They were just brilliant. Definitely more "oomph" than any other passive Jazz pups- but they had a lovely warm sound, which seemed to produce the whole range really well. Plenty of low end, punch at the top end, and mids that cut through well. Whenever I played that bass, and in several bands / genres, it just sat nicely in the mix. Wish I hadn't sold that bass... Re pickup height - the luthiers I've spoken to, and the ones I watch regularly on YouTube all say the same thing - don't set the pickup height too close to the strings.... so adjust that carefully. Let us know how you get on 😀
  23. Today
  24. @cetera is after a Soul Food (although I realise that doesn't help you sell as a job lot!)
