  2. nice to see a fwonkbeta on there. i used to have one.. they're not around much. wicked pedal
  3. My main thoughts are to cover expenses, not get paid specifically at the bands usual rate. It’s why I used a bar person as an example, for their rate of pay, if they get £50 a shift then that should cover a regular covers bands of 3/4/5 band members on getting there. Or if that’s not doable then a couple of drinks and a sandwich each. I’ve done a few charity gigs where for whatever reasons the charity was close to one of the band members, and at those gigs we were paid expenses. How much I don’t know as in each case we just put the sealed envelopes in the charity pot.
  4. Yanks on TalkBass were getting their panties in a bunch over these a few months back 🤣 Think I've had 3 basses where the Hipshot version came as stock hardware. Never had any call to use it but if my situation changed I rather pay £60 for the Guyker than £140 to Hipshot 👍
  5. Play Away - Brian Can't- TV theme song
  6. Sounds like it could be a grounding issue?
  7. I have had a long think about this. I think that I like this inexpensive pedalboard - it is portable, and sits in a neat enclosure. That means that i won't need to pull apart a home-organ to salvage the pedals and then make an enclosure. If I leave it as it is, it will only work with a 30 year old GEM keyboard. If I convert it to midi, it will work with any midi device (including the 30 year old GEM keyboard, which also has midi). So, once I learn electronics, midi it will be!
  8. I sort of know what you mean. The winter months seem slow to me because we don't play much in the winter. My last gig was New Year's Eve. I have an acoustic gig next weekend. Daryl
  9. An early 60s sunburst would be my dream bass. Unfortunately I can’t ever see me owning one. This 62 copy is probably the closest I’m ever going to get to one but I’m more than happy with it.
  10. Did you ever sell it? im looking for my first bass to buy back but i sold it in 2011… the guys email address is no longer active!
  11. Behringer Ultra DI Model DI100, brilliant DI for home studio and on stage direct to FOH the rubber edges have some scuffs and bangs but generally good condition. £15 shipped. Thanks,
  12. Line 6 HX Stomp in used condition bought from this very forum recently for £300 and looking for the same back. It taught me that I'm a very simple person and I made one patch on the HX stomp which was the fantastic Noble Preamp and an FX loop for all my other pedals So I've done myself a favor bought a Caveman BP1 preamp and now this is surplus. No original box but will be very well packaged for shipping, comes with power supply and usb cable, everything works as it should. £300 shipped. obviously more bubble wrap will be added to the parcel
  13. Pedaltrain Metro Max, only a few months old, like new with original carry bag and strap. Board has velcro as well as the additional unused tape. £70 shipped. I am also selling a Pedaltrain Nano. I have a real goldilocks situation, this one too big and the nano too small! Thanks,
  14. Pedaltrain Nano, only a few months old, like new with original carry bag and strap which has never been opened. No velcro on this board either. £45 shipped. I am also selling a Pedaltrain Metro Max. I have a real goldilocks situation, this one too small and the max too big! Thanks,
  15. There's a couple of appendages that fit either side of the eub body to simulate the acoustic's body. They're not much to look at but the Stagg eub was budget friendly at the time. The neck board isn't as round as an acoustic so playing with a bow is tricky but I only went 'arco' on the intro for Born on the Bayou to get the drone sound.
  16. All situations with bands, band members, bookings and money can be different for a myriad of reasons. I have a buddy a senior guy who's band doesn't gig much and he says ," I'll play for 50 bucks" because he just wants to play. Me, I'm not in that situation and would diplomatically decline 50 bucks a man gigs. And some guys are not in this for money at all. I'm not sure, but I think the tipping culture over here is a little different. And it depends on the venue, the crowd and the vibe of the room. I've seen $1,000.00 tip jars more than once. Stuffed with 20s and even a few 100 dollar bills. I've also seen empty tip jars at the end of the night more than once. It sounds like a great gig but the business part is a little weird. Daryl
  17. I always see gigging as a privilege, bunch of folks have made the effort to come and see us, I always remember they have a lot of choice these days 👍 And we all have a choice Dan. If it’s your job, fair enough, many gigs will be procedural hard work, and sometime really shit. But if not, and you’re still doing loads of gigs you don’t enjoy, it’s your choice. All of this is choice, I choose to pretty much always help charities whether bar staff are being paid or not. Other players and bands don’t, and that’s fine, something that’s 100% their call and not something I have the right to have an opinion on (although I’m not sure why the latter moan about it so much, just say no to charities and focus on paid gigs) 👍
  18. Unfortunately all corners in the Bass Cave are occupied. Doesn't help that i have a full clothes rack in there too for all my Glam costumes. Dave
  19. On the uperhorn was a little oversprayed with black colour because the old owner grave His Name on IT .... But Finish Looks original to me i Look under de Neck Joint and under the pickguard seems all original
  20. Does it stay in place ok without having a body as such to steady it against you. ? Dave
  21. OK thanks. I doubt I'll get a single replacement string, but I'll call Bass Direct and hopefully we can work something out.
  22. Today
  23. MXR DC Brick, in used condition has been on many of my boards for a couple of years. £40 posted. No original packaging at all, but will be shipped securely. 7 Power cables and original adapter. Official bumpf, "MXR DC BRICK offers versatile power and overload protection in a smart pedalboard friendly package. AC adapter and pedal power connectors included. Keep your pedals powered all night long with the MXR DC Brick, a revamp of the DCB10. Now under the MXR brand, the new DC Brick features all of the short circuit and overload protection of the original but now handles twice the power, allowing you to use virtually any combination of effects. Additionally, each 9v output has a red LED that illuminates if there is a short so you can quickly identify and troubleshoot any power problems. The MXR DC Brick has eight 9v outputs and two 18v outputs, a change from the DCB10’s seven 9v outputs and three 18v outputs. And of course, the AC adapter and all necessary cables to connect pedals to the unit are included." Many thanks,
  24. I've not seen much online from people actually having them, anyone with personal experience? I'm looking for a 5 string and love the rd shape on them.
  25. Hi, been playing for a long time. Took a big pause over COVID and it's taken a while but I'm back in a band. Love playing sludge, doom etc. creating large, punishing waveforms to throw at people it my favourite. I'll have to take some low res pics of my babies, but I have an epi eb3, a fender blacktop jazz(two p pickups with a jazz neck) and my custom finished thunderbird in jade green. Currently waiting for my Laney digbeth to arrive. I traded my orange terror, wanted something with more versatility. I make pedals for fun, with far too many to mention...I like nasty, powerful fuzzes of all varieties. Here to chat, pick brains and just be normal XD
  26. That's the whole point of jam sessions like that! Some of the most memorable nights of my musical 'career' have been blues jam sessions (admittedly with semi-known experienced players, rather than with novice players getting up)!
