I suppose it's that time of year again for the classics:

It's not a deal-breaker for me, I'll be keeping it - but that's partly as when I practise via headphones I don't mind just playing to sheet music and a metronome, and when the kids practise they play out loud and with the iPad audio turned up or can add a separate Bluetooth speaker playing backing tracks. If I can be bothered with the setup for headphone practise with backing tracks then I already have things like a USB interface and mixing desk if needed. I could see it being a deal breaker for other people though seeing as a key target audience is people practising at home - lots will want to use apps like Flowkey and Simply Piano and that would requires the audio to go both out and back in via USB to listen on the ES-60 which isn't possible without it having an interface, or many will just want to practice with headphones on and be able to play along to backing tracks via an aux in or bluetooth which isn't possible either. There are possible workarounds but they are a faff and costly for most of the target audience e.g. Connect an external audio interface, or a mixer, and could get an iPad hub which would hopefully allow midi to go in via USB for the apps to recognise playing and for the audio to also go in from the ES-60 and then back out along with iPad backing tracks to a USB audio interface with the headphones attached, quite a faff. On the CK-61 it was just a case of plug the USB into the iPad .

How was your open mic or jam night last night?
TrevorR replied to tauzero's topic in General Discussion
It’s been a bit of a jam-tastic week… Last Thursday was the third Country & Roots Jam near me. After the last one, a couple of guys asked if I fancied pulling together a few songs for this Jam. Nice to be making some local connections as I’ve been out of the local scene for years. We ended up playing the Luke Combs of Fast Car (which is nigh on identical to the original!), a tune called Jersey Giant and a version of Justin Timberlake’s Mirrors in a country style (thte singer had found an AI version on YouTube and we based it on that). Lots of fun. I also played on a couple of other tunes too - Me & Bobby McGhee and another one I can’t recall now. Here’s a couple of vids… And last night was the last Monday Night Jam of the year over in Woking , so it took on a decidedly Christmassy feel, of course. I got roped in to play on a couple of tunes… Driving Home For Christmas and Fairytale Of NewYork which was good fun, if a wee bit ropey here and there. However, I’d colluded with a few chums to sing a “Christmassy” version of a Black Sabbath tune - “War Pigs (In Blankets”, if you like!). I heard it when I downloaded The Barenaked Ladies’ Christmas Album last year and decided that I HAD to do it at this year’s Christmas Jam. So a festive version of “War Pigs” . See what you think (I’m no lead vocalist…) -
3Gorillas started following EBS TD660 incl. Case (ultra-mint!!)

I’m selling an EBS TD660, one of my all-time favorite bass amps. It’s extremely versatile, powerful, dynamic, and built like a tank. This unit was my backup — I used to own two — and since I’ve switched to its successor, this one can go. The amp has very low playing hours and has been stored in a high-quality case from day one. I removed it from the case only for the photos: the condition is ultra-mint, without even the usual rack marks or scratches. Prefer local pickup, but shipping is possible, of course (at buyer's cost and risk). Price: GBP 743 / 850 Euro Private sale — no warranty, returns, or guarantees. Product Details The EBS TD660 is a highly flexible, powerful bass amplifier that blends tube, Mosfet, and solid-state technology. It delivers a very neutral and transparent tone, preserving the natural character of your instrument. It features a built-in compressor — the basis of the famous EBS MultiComp pedal — as well as a drive module with booster, capable of everything from warm overdrive to aggressive fuzz, always maintaining musicality. The drive module can also run directly through the preamp tube, creating warm, tube-style saturation. The intelligent 4-band EQ allows precise tone shaping. A notch filter removes unwanted frequencies (great for avoiding feedback), and the Character switch provides an instant mid-scoop. Additional features include a DI output with optional speaker simulation, tuner out, and an effects loop — making this amp an excellent choice for touring bassists or anyone needing reliability and tonal flexibility. Specifications Channels: 2 Power: 650 W @ 2 Ω; 540 W @ 4 Ω Impedance: 2 / 4 Ω Preamp tube: 1 × ECC83 Controls: Gain, Compressor/Limiter, Bass, Middle, Mid Frequency, Treble, Bright, Drive, Volume, FX Mix Switches: Character on/off Filter Active on/off Tube Mode on/off Boost Drive on/off DI pre/post EQ DI Speaker Simulation on/off DI Ground Lift on/off Phantom Power Input on/off Phantom Power Loop Return on/off Inputs: Instrument In (¼"), 2 × Footswitch In (¼"), Effect Return (¼") Outputs: DI Out (XLR), 2 × Speaker Out (Speakon), Tuner Out (¼"), Line Out (¼"), Effect Send (¼") Battery operation: Not supported Dimensions: 480 × 130 × 356 mm Weight: 12 kg

An old friend of mine had a Capri that he was very proud of. He was sitting at some traffic lights when a tatty brown Moggy van pulled up alongside him. He decided to take on the challenge and was promptly left in the dust, and later found out that under the Moggy's bonnet was a V8 Chevy engine.

Fender Precision Player Bass Black Fender P Player Bass with in beautiful condition. The Player series are a step up from the ordinary! Serial number MX18005295. June 2018. This is back up for sale after a potential buy paid a deposit them fell ill so couldn't collect. It’s all original apart from the black scratchplate, which is brand new from North West Guitars, so it’s a quality part and all the screw holes match up exactly! The white original scratchplate will be included. I’m happy to put either flats or roundwound strings on, according to your preference. It’s been well set up. The truss rod has been adjusted to give a nice low action and is very comfortable to play and has a great tone with a warm punch. The electrics have been sprayed with Contact Spray, so they work as they should with no nasty scratchy sounds from the pots. The frets have been levelled and polished and the intonation is spot on. The neck has been treated with lemon oil so it’s clean and ‘fed’. They say: There's nothing more classic than a Fender electric bass, and the Player Precision Bass is as authentic as it gets - genuine Fender style and the rumbling, seismic sound that spawned a thousand imitations. With its smooth playing feel and spotlight-ready style, this thunderous bass is ready to enter the studio or prowl the stage and help show the world your creative vision. Happy to post at buyer’s expense. No case £500 Chaddesden, Derby DE21 4JJ All proceeds will go towards a charity for the homeless in Derby and a Home for street kids in Bogota, Colombia. My brother worked as a kennel boy while he was a student. He told me that one of the tricks of the trade was to stick a matchstick up the dog's bum just before taking them out to the parade so as to stimulate their desire to reduce their weight. -

I was looking on my phone, so missed the subtlety of the design. On my computer I can see that the screw on the front (C) allows for the the lateral movement of the part of the bridge over which the string passes. Fiendish! 🙂

The good news is that the SPB4 pups (I have a set) are themselves very nicely built with properly earthed pole pieces! Tonally they are quite different to the vintage voicing of the SPB1 - they have a pronounced low-mid bump and less highs. Very nice pickups with a distinct vibe, but not as 'general purpose' as a regularly voiced P.

The DM610 is a large bookshelf/standmount speaker from renowned hi-fi brand B&W, featuring a well-braced 30-litre sealed cabinet with 8-inch mid-bass driver. The larger driver and extra cabinet space create a much better low end range than from most similar speakers. This model allows for either bi-wiring or bi-amplification. These speakers present clean tight bass response, surprisingly clear mids for such a large driver and the pleasant highs that the well-designed B&W tweeter at that time was famous for. They can be driven quite loud, enough for the physical effect of the bass to be felt without audible distortion or a sense of sound compression. Both speakers are in Very Good condition, especially for their vintage. All-original, complete with full grilles (one of which has a small hole, shown in the final photo). Only £125. Collection from Bournemouth BH6 preferred. Here comes the science bit… Type: 2-way closed, shelf speaker Colour: Ash black veneer Dimensions: 490 x 236 x 303 mm (H x W x D) Weight: 7.8 kg Recommended amplifier power: 30-150 W Frequency response: 70 - 20,000 Hz (±2 dB) Crossover: 2500 Impedance: 4 Ohm
