  1. Past hour
  2. Does anyone know why, or have any theories as to why it's priced like this? I don't mind spending a few quid on a great pedal, but I feel like I'm missing something here.
  3. As per title. Superb condition. Fantastic neck & fretboard. 9lb 8oz. Original hardcase, certificate, scratchplate etc all included. Collection Darlington, may do half way meet. Feedback available. SORRY, no courier, trades or offers. Try to find a cheaper one! Very reluctant sale. Many thanks for looking, Karl.
  4. But the Nords are in the Blue finish below it? The SR500N-MAM
  5. Be prepared for a looooooooooong wait. There is my 35" headless travel bass with hex pickup to build first! 🤣 As a complete aside, I've had occasional access to a MakerSpace over the past 18 months, close to the client site where I have been working away, and have been dabbling with laser engraving & 3D printing, relearning parametric CAD and some IOT stuff. Sadly the client is choosing to end the engagement early this month so I won't get to grips with the X-carve CC router. However I know I want one in my retirement workshop!
  6. Well, that isn't a new new finish is it? the SR500 has always been brown. I always viewed that as their actual base serious model, if you want nords you go up the number range.
  7. I've always found Reverb an awful place to shop... Almost every seller ups their price to compensate for fees, so if buying from a retailer via Reverb its far cheaper to buy direct. Most of the private sales have stupidly high prices. Its not bad if you are a private seller selling at a fair price as things normally sell quickly in the backdrop of the typically really high prices!
  8. I think the splash of grey in my beard gets me slightly less disrespectful treatment on Denmark Street than I had twenty years ago.... Go in, get ignored, ask a question, get treated like rubbish, some bloke walks in tk buy cheap strings and says he produces for random persons 1, 2, 3 and the staff may as well have wafted him with palm leaves and fed him grapes while carrying him around in a sedan chair.
  9. No idea where they’d gone. They are there now
  10. I've got a silver cloth grill super twin I'd happily trade to help you out, and that I barely use as I seem to have accumulated other 12” cabs, but typically I'm the other end of the country in Devon.
  11. A very excellent 300watt Warwick amp (head only, not speaker). In very good working condition, lovely deep sound, very usable compressor, lots of EQ control. Can do scooped, straight ahead rock tones, pokey jazz tones and probably a lot more. Good working condition, only slight tiny issue is that the treble knob is a little loose, needs tightening inside which I'm not brave enough to do. Bought recently with the speaker, but I only really wanted the speaker. I live near St Albans but work in London and Cambridge occasionally so could meet at any place, or post at cost. £20 for 24hr delivery. PM me with any questions.
  12. It's hard to play. Not getting your gob in the right part of the iron, but having enough puff!
  13. I’ve always had good service from the guys at Bass Direct. I’m sure, like every retailer, they’ve had their moments where things haven’t gone to plan (much like the Andertons delivery issues mentioned earlier on this page) but overall I think they’re a solid bunch.
  14. Phil this doesn't tally with my experience, other than the caveat that you have to select it yourself, but Robbins, Buildbase, Travis in Bristol all carry good enough redwood pine, largely knot free and straight grained, and store it racked indoors. Selco usually have good enough stuff too, and Timbersource carry good enough low knot-count furniture board. For a bass cabinet IMO you're not going to need the flawless quartersawn lengths you would want for a full-size, free-hanging door. It's going to be 21-22mm and I'd wager it's at least as stiff as most 18mm plywood, despite being lighter. Might be worth having a cross-grain brace on each panel I suppose if the panels are deeper, but I can't see any problems with using it for a wee little cab provided the builder knows what he's doing. I wouldn't use it for a heavy gigging cab just because it dents easily but unless you're gigging underwater it's not going to fall apart. I'm not sure what is meant by 'stability' but I've never had problems with splitting, and warping (of free-hanging cupboard doors) has been rare and probably similar to what I've had with plywood where presumably there are occasional manufacturing flaws. In any case a cab constrained by construction method isn't going to move. By contrast the only plywood I can get that is decent is from Sydenhams (or Robbins but they're even more £££), formerly Avon Plywood, and recently I was paying over £100 per sheet for B/BB.
  15. Thankssss!
  16. A thumbs-up from here for BD: ordered some bits late on a Weds, they were here on the Friday morning. All good.
  17. Some new models/finishes for the SR range - have to say the SR500 finishes look good. Just a shame you can't have the Nordstrands in the Mahogany finish.
  18. I'm winding everything back now and having a clearcut of all the stuff I'm unlikely to ever use again. I'm open to sensible offers for any of these - the £900 shown in the listing is for the whole lot, collected. Prices include postage to UK addresses apart from the Take 5 - please PM to discuss collection or delivery options for that. Given that this is a clearout, I'm not really looking for swaps but feel free to let me know if you have anything - to be honest, it's unlikely but you never know! Sequential Take 5 analogue synth - immaculate condition, boxed, upgraded to the latest firmware and patches £750 Zoom R12 portable multitrack recorder - bought to record the band at rehearsal and only used once before the band imploded. Boxed, immaculate £150 Roland VT4 voice transformer - bought when I entertained fantasies of singing backing vox. Again, used just the once and then retired along with the rest of my dreams. £125 UNO drum machine - a great little drum machine, fantastic for giving us a basic beat whenever the drummer failed to make rehearsals. Light usage, boxed and immaculate condition £100 Waldorf Streichfett string synth - surprisingly versatile little synth that does a great job of recreating the sound of 70s string synths. Immaculate, boxed £150 Thanks for looking - if you have any questions or would like photographs, please PM

  19. Cherry Bomb - John Mellencamp
  20. I had a Matsumoku made Aria Pro II from '76 with a SEN Japanese Ash body like the Blade basses - yes, very much like Northern Ash; Dense, heavy and, whether or not folk believe that the body wood makes a difference to tone, this one definitely sounded like it felt! More likely to be used for recording purposes, but I do have some super wide bass straps that should releive a little of the 'heft' that I use wil my 70's P.. another Ash "boat anchor"!
  21. Today
  22. I also can’t decide how much of the stock pickup’s brightness is down to the pickup itself or just its position.
  23. Just received and fitted the pickups from Lee.. What a difference. The boominess has completely gone, and I'm getting wonderful clarity and brightness now. I resisted the temptation to fit a new set of Chromes, as I wanted to use my old Fender 9050's to make a direct pickup comparison. I like these so much, that I might get another set made for the Vintera.
  24. Actually, I see they also did a guitar version, called the Power Baby. Never knew that. Maybe the HH amp is one of those. I can't see a bass combo that shape.
