My BQ500 is exactly what I want - through two Ampeg Portaflex PF-115HE's it is an enormous sound and handles the mudbucker on my 1959 EB-0 with no problems. I cannot get it to distort so it is nice and clean for me! I keep my Ampeg B2-RE amplifier as a spare because the BQ500 is better for me. I run it flat out and it is loud enough for a full band with 2 guitars and keyboards playing rock,

Or a warehouse full of returns, which maybe bargain priced. Let's wait and see.

Yup, that's obvious but then again, there's reverse engineering....? As some manufacturers do, Behringer anyone ? 😉 I just want to save my tech & myself some time as during summer time he is overloaded w/ work - tourist season/live music all over & all that jazz.. Not being able to use my amp sucks and i'm hoping Epifani will not "punish me" for being a client of theirs for over 20 years and 3 rigs in a country that hasn't got an importer
-
I begin with volume all the way up, balance slightly towards the bridge and bass & treble centered. I then set my preamp pedal to how I like it. The EQ on the bass is just used to make small adjustments.

I have these. Cool looking rimless varifocals in blue tint. My wife took one look at me wearing them and said, "well I'd sh*g you". They do look great even though I say so myself. I'm also on the blinder side of optically challenged, but I can see a set list and read the odd note on the floor on a darkened stage if the print is big enough. Rob

For me, there's a false hierarchy to say that playing an instrument in one setting (e.g. a gig) is more righteous than playing it another (e.g. at home). I think it's possible to get enormous pleasure from an instrument wherever it's played. I've got a particular bass that seems to be my goto for gigging these days - it's a decently high-end bass (Elrick) which I bought a while back from @Sibob of this parish and am very much still loving it. It now has a few knocks to testify to the very many gigs it's faithfully done for me. I do have one bass that I would hesitate to take out to a pub gig specifically, as that was a 'treat' bass and I suspect I'd be quite upset if it got damaged. Part of the joy of that bass, for me, is the craftsmanship that went into making it and I think it's possible to appreciate the design and craftsmanship in an instrument, as well as other objects in life, that can make it be worth something more than being just 'a tool', albeit an excellent one, to get a job done. The rest of my basses yes, absolutely, would be happy to gig them at pubs as well as function venues.

Hi all. This is a fantastic bass and in great condition. I have never gigged, rehearsed with it a few times and mainly played at home but that’s it. Just finding it’s not really what I am looking for and I am using my Heavily modded P Bass for most of my playing at the moment. For the interests of clarity and honesty there are a few small chips around the neck pocket which I have tried to picture, I think it’s from where the neck has been taken off to be adjusted as it’s a butt end adjustment. It appears that when the neck has been put back on, it appears that they’ve gone a bit tight on the neck plate as there appears to be the marks in the finish around the plate, as I have tried to picture in the photos. It was like this when I bought it from Richtone June 2024, I haven’t had the neck off. This is just in the finish, it’s only really noticeable if you go looking for them and it doesn’t structurally effect the bass in anyway. Other than the finish issues at the neck pocket and neck plate, the bass is in great shape, shows some light playing marks as to be expected but nothing, other than the metioned neck pocket, that breaks the surface, it plays superbly with DR Hi Beams 45’s on it, it sounds exactly as it should tonally and it has been well looked after by myself. All the case candy is still in its packaging. Ideally and preferably i’m after a trade/swap for a P/J Style Bass like a Fender US Deluxe/Elite, Spector Euro 4, Yamaha BB2024x/BBP34 or a G&L USA L1500 or L2000 (maple board) or Lakland MM/J (maple board). Can be swayed by a 5 string version of any of the above as well. Price on the listing is reflective of trade value. Would be happy to sell as well, but have a preference for trade/swap at this point. I am happy to answer any or all questions. Please don’t think that the above list is set in stone in terms of trades and happy to hear cash offers. Thanks. Below is all the information from Fender. I have this debate with myself from time to time, always end up counselling myself not to be precious and then grit my teeth and take it. I own a nice bass for the joy I get from playing it. I don't want to allow the object itself to become an idol.... that's what I tell myself anyway.

Used to enjoy Foulds. Very nearly (and should have) bought one of the original SUB USA EBMM stingrays from them. Stupidly I thought a fully fledged 3EQ would be better, if not as good - it wasn’t. Souncontrol in Derby used to be good too. Bought a few bits from them many moons ago.

Looking for a 5u Shallow rack SKB style case
jazzyvee replied to jazzyvee's topic in Accessories and Misc
I do have a 3U SKB that is similar to that too, which is great as the fat handle helps carrying it with my weighty preamps. Most of the flight cases seem to have slim handles which are unpleasant to carry with heavy stuff in. Currently I use a 4U SKB roto shallow rack with a 1U power amp. I would prefer to move the 1U power amp into the 3U rack with my bass power supply and F1-x preamp for a lighter rack. Then use my 2U Crown XLS amp into fat handled 5U, Ideally, shallow rack with two pre-amps and a bass psu. So the fat handle will help with carrying the weight. -
This, except mine is more instruments that don’t get used get sold. My Rob Allen is currently very much underused and is looking shaky in terms of its residency at chez Ez. My only gig these days doesn’t really call for a number of my basses, but I still take out my custom Maruszczyk as my number one.

Selling my SVT-CL, glorious sounding amp but I haven't needed to use it much over the past year. All works flawlessly and come with a cover (has a lot of marks on it) This has a few knock marks which I've tried to show in the pictures but nothing that affects performance. it is nearly 20 years old. This is a US Built one and the serial number puts it at Feb 2007 which would make it one of the last ones built in the US before manufacturing moved. Collection only as this is a heavy bit of iron with valves! Collection from Sandy, Bedfordshire. £850

Appreciate this. As I was going to work around Camden I went to the bass gallery today. Tried the three cabs with time hammer. Trace Elliot 110, ampeg 112 and Aguilar sL112. Didn’t really like the trace Elliot. Ampeg was ok. Aguilar was very nice. Very mid focused. Warm and articulate. To big and rather pricey for home use if you ask me.

Thanks folks, the first thing I did was to apologise and offer to sort out the issue for free including picking the bass up the same day the buyer messaged me about the fret issue and them collecting the next day when it was sorted. I suspect the offending fret just needs a tap down and/or spot fret level and dress. I genuinely believe that this is a fair starting point before a refund is discussed. Again this is just about me trying to find my way on my bass building journey whilst being open, honest and ethical about my abilities and the level of my builds as I start out……

Yes, whether I'm carrying a couple of grands worth of Fender Jazz or a now irreplaceable Status, I always use them, no matter what the venue. Otherwise there would be no point owning them. As much as I'd like to save some of them for 'best', they're working tools at the end of the day. I do, however never let them out of my sight at some venues.
