The recent purchase of another 4-string superlight means this beauty is up for sale. I'd rather not sell, as it is hands-down the best 5-string I have ever owned and of course superlights are hard to come by, perhaps more so in 5 strings. The low B is lovely! The Sandberg sounds great, feels great, looks great, and the weight of 6.8lb is... great! Gig comfortably for hours. The truth is, the reggae band I use a 5-string with seems to resurface every 5 years on average. I used this bass once only at our last gig in 2025; since then, it's been hung on the wall and not played. I use 4 stringers in my other bands, and recently purchased another 4-string superlight, so I need to balance the bank books. The bass is in excellent condition, with a few minor marks being a soft wood, but nothing of concern. The neck is sublime, so comfortable. Glockenklang preamp with pull passive and passive tone , fairly sure they're the black label Sandberg pickups. It'll come with a tatty gig bag but can be upgraded for an extra £ - it will be well packed if needing to be couriered. £1150 - may take new type Markbass M58R 8ohm 2x10" or 1x12" in p/t ex. Collection from Plymouth, Devon, or happy to discuss couriers at the buyer's cost.

There’s one in the USA I see for just over 15k that looks like the same one
-
The obvious thing to note (for me) is that when you search '1964 fender jazz bass' on Reverb, you get a page with this one @ £3.8k, one for just under £9k in America and all the others in the £15k to £18k range. The only ones that come up at a broadly similar price are Custom Shop models.

So this week: Couldn't make the Friday practice so just worked it out on the fly Used IEMs for the first time in a service Drummer used electric drums for the first time Tried a new router as monitor mix wasn't working (and it only sort of came on line) Used an ipad for the music for only the second time Had a keyboardist leading who seemed to make up his own basslines as we were going along Was probably the hardest I've ever concentrated on a Sunday morning - only got lost once in five songs!
-
I've also just switched to IEMs and this weekend had one of the best tones I've managed. I think having a really good DI might be quite important - I was going out of my Genzler Magellan pre with a little bit of EQ tweaking to taste. Also, something I don't think anyone has mentioned on this thread yet (although I haven't read all 87 pages), walking around a venue with IEMs around your neck seems like the equivalent of walking around a hospital with a stethoscope in terms of how people treat you!

I think I know every BTB that's currently on or has recently been on the market. And considering there are circa 140 models in the entire BTB range that amounts to only a disappointing few. The 845V - the shorter 33'' Volo model - looks very nice however I think I prefer the longer scale. The 17mm spacing for me might also be a bit of a deal breaker too. There was one for sale last Summer not too far from where I live. I wanted to go take a look but I just didn't have the money at the time. I'm not interested in any of the older/earlier models (i.e. the 405) and with the more modern ones I'm not keen on the bland 'flat' natural finish models. Does get a bit frustrating when you spy an especially nice example available for sale in Japan or USA but shipping and tax add up to being a killer 😖 -

I remember seeing that finish on an old "Thor Sound" guitar in a local shop a few years ago. It does look really neat. I'm always tempted to try that sort of solid/natural finish on one of my own builds.

Audio cables and mains cables running side by side are deemed a bad idea the can cross each other at an angle, but it does effectively mean you have a long aerial from a transmitter running in close proximity to the receiving aerial of the audio input. There are a few cables that run a balanced cable and a mains cable in the same bundle, Andertons do one, but I cannot find the link. Sommer also do one, Sommer DMX/Power or Audio and Power Cable. I may get some of the Sommer one to try but at almost €14 per metre excluding VAT, Duties and shipping costs....

Hi peeps F/S are a set of neck and bridge pickups for Rickenbacker style basses. These are the single coil with static impedance of 8.2k Ohms (neck) and 8.4k Ohms (bridge). Bought in anticipation of a project that never happened. As you can see they are unopened but I have added in the pics from the Retrovibe website for clarity and a link to the relevant pages. These are just shy of £120 inc. P&P from Retrovibe, so offered at a very reasonable £90 inc. P&P to UK mainland by Royal Mail Special Delivery. Neck: https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/retrovibe-rick-style-neck-pickup/ Bridge: https://retrovibe.co.uk/product/retrovibe-rick-style-treble-pickup-and-chrome-surround/ And some pics:

Since im sending the Sire Z7 back on Monday i'll have about £500 burning a hole in my pocket which BTB's do you fancy ?....some of the the newer BTB's have also caught my eye, there's a Ibanez BTB845V (a japanese only released 33" scale E-C) i quite fancy on the bay atm and there's a BTB SC (BTB865SC....WTF is it with ibbys lame naming....) up on Zenmarket that im mulling over (im a sucker for singlecuts) but with shipping/Import that would be up at around £600 & 3 months wait (i refuse to pay £120 to ship a bass via air vs £40 for surface)
