I agree with both Tim and Tegs. Many people are struggling financially for the reasons Tegs describes, but circumstances - as referred to by Tim - also mean they are less likely to go out in the evening and spend what fun money they do have. It's not either/or. Some kind of guaranteed income for artists would be a nightmare to administer and run. Who qualifies and how? Is it reasonable to spend scarce public resources on things that might not be considered essential, when public services are under the cosh and many people struggle to heat their homes and afford other necessities? And so on. Tim makes a very good point about encouraging/helping people to become less reliant on public funds. We already have in-work benefits for people in low-paid jobs, which are intended to do just that. The trouble is that they mean large amounts of public money go towards subsidising the wage bills of large and very profitable corporations, which pay their staff poorly in the knowledge that there are few well-paid jobs on offer and that taxpayer will step in and make up the difference.

Trace Elliot - Rescue & Restore (and bargain finds)
Stub Mandrel replied to SimonK's topic in Amps and Cabs
Elf literally fits in a (big) pocket. I found the speaker jack socket a bit too deep... I had a poorly engaged jack pop out twice, which is not good. Easily fixed by trimming it with a craft knife, but I suggest you check it to avoid warranty issues. -
I had a P bass from that series and it was a very nice instrument. The bodies are a little thinner than on a full USA one, but that means a slightly lower weight and I really like that. The necks on the Precision version were also a little thinner front to back. I only sold mine because at the time I was almost always playing a J type so it was gathering dust. The only think I'd upgrade on them would be the tuning heads - they are the same as a MIM and although serviceable, improvements are available. I put Hipshot Ultralites on mine and got the weight down further in the process.

Nice amps, what inspired me to get a Terror. I've used it with an acoustic at a couple of 'wooden music' open mics. -
Well, yes, when I said I WFH all the time, we actually go in every other tuesday, where we have a couple of meetings, then go down the pub at lunchtime (when we were full time there we never went down the pub), then chat - so it is more a sociable time. It is nominally a work day but we go home earlier and nothing really gets done, even indivual sessions where you need to help someone discuss something don't tend to be as productive as on teams as its generally just too noisy with too much going on.

I will always add if you haven’t done this already ….. try different cables, both guitar and speaker ones. Even one strand of a cable’s wire earthing out can be a problem. -

Yes, the knob location isn't standard for the OLP so I assumed there was something else in there. -

Do Aria Pros come in l/h, if so would prob be my starting point, however the white pickguard/pickup covers/knobs & gold hardware would def "eighties" up your Precision.

I looked at their website only yesterday, and it still said shipping October. It does make me wonder what's going on. Production problems? Perhaps the fanfare and launch was a little premature? Rob

I will be bringing 2 amps - a Markbass Mini CMD121P IV combo for louds, and a TC Electronic BH250 which will be headphones only, that worked really well for me at the SWBB. -
	Macca had a BB1200 IIRC.

I see what you mean Daryl. We spent a long time rehearsing before we started gigging with the Glam band. I think its helped us be consistent with our gigs. Dave

It’s the wrong conclusion. 2008 and then Covid saw a massive increase in the money supply. Central banks printing like crazy. This stoked massive inflation - particularly in stocks and property. Prices went up hugely. Mortgages went up, rents went up, food went up, transportation costs went up, wages went up slightly. People are not going out because of Covid or working from home. They are not going out because they are skint. All of these schemes, every attempt at raising wages are all going to fail. You can’t fill a collinder with water. No matter how good the intentions or how much water you pour in.

kwmlondon replied to kwmlondon's topic in Bass Guitars
Yeah, Paul told me the previous owner to him had used the things as a bit of a test bed for stuff. So, not sure what pickup is in there or what the preamp is but I have NEVER had anything that puts out that much signal before. I'm worried it'll give me a shock if I touch it! -

kwmlondon replied to kwmlondon's topic in Bass Guitars
Is it? Really? At that price? I'll have to look closer. Really quilted maple? Really? The neck is fine - reminds me a bit of my MusicMan stingray. Not something I'd pick out of choice but with my playing it doesn't really matter what size neck I have - nothing's gonna make me any better! -
I think we are getting away from my point. Artist Universal Income has been introduced to subsidise artists because attendance has dropped off due to the effects of the pandemic. A lot of my friends play in London. A lot of people would stay around affer work for a meal, a beer and a gig. Now, if you're working from home, its a trip to London after work into London. Only very keen people are going to do that. That's not limited to London, that is going on all over the country.

Yes, there are a few ways to use the external footswitch, or expression pedal, but one of them is scrolling the presets. Using the footswitch on the pedal is fine for scrolling through presets as long as you don't need to change during a song. If you want to do that the easiest way is to use an expression pedal, you can save a setting for the up and down position of the pedal, so going between them is easy - it actually blends between them, which can be cool if you want that, but if not just being quick with the pedal works fine.
