I'd be tempted to (as above) fill the chips with something clear, lightly key the current finish and spray with translucent black nitro. You'd still see the grain and save yourself a lot of time and swears. Easy to diy, just wait for the temperature outside to pick up again. -

These days, so many companies make good basses there's no need for me to even consider looking at something if it doesn't catch my eye. If I'm shopping for basses there's no way in the world that I'm going to plug in the one on the left if it's hanging next to the one on the right. Even buying online, I'm going for something special.

There is no stage at the Craven Heifer, we all play in one corner. There is a PA provided by the organiser, everybody uses that single PA including vocalist. No space for your own amps but the BassChat 8" might just fit. PA speaker on a table. The drummer has a toy drum set, that's not a joke, it really is a kids set with a bass, a tom and a cymbal. Thats all that fits so she brings that. She has a Led Zep sized drum kit as well but zero chance of it fitting. I take a headless as less chance of it hitting anyone. I may take the Ibanez Mikro next time as that's even smaller. If anybody moves, it's like The Shadows as we all have to move in sync. We have space for two mikes and possible two music stands so the bass player looks over the shoulder of the guitarist or singer. -

There have indeed been some documented issues with the brown colored new plugs from Neutrik, being exactly as Eich had experienced. A bigger problem has been some of the cheap knockoff plugs from Asia, their cost is irresistible to some cable manufacturers and they can damage the mating jacks too.

It doesn’t I’m afraid, just the input of the bass. Not sure if there are any camera apps that would let you record the built in mic at the same time but it definitely doesn’t record Bluetooth audio.

Owned from new for around 12yrs, I bought this from Thomann and had it set up for Rockabilly. It definitely feels a step up from the entry level basses and I have used it live a lot. Most of its life has been more of feature in my living room though. The last couple of years I have been coming to terms with the fact that I need to sell it. Space is at a premium, it rarely gets used and I am of an age where the EUB seems the easier option. The specs are here Thomann link if anyone is interested. I added a pickup which has been useful. I can’t recall the make but it was quite a decent one, Shadow, I seem to remember. There is a tatty (by my high standards) gig bag and the strings are currently Gut-A-Like vintage ones Gut A Like strings You’ll see I added a few stickers. These should be fairly easy to remove. I’m happy to do it, or I can leave it. Equally I am happy to add more pictures. It’s currently lent against the wall in my place in Hungerford, where I am Sunday to Thursday evenings. Postage looks too hard to do so it would be a collection. I have gotten it in a Peugeot 107 before - not comfortably, so perhaps don’t bring the family if collecting!

Tuning stability shouldn't be affected once everything has properly bedded in - the tuning system is still an inclined helical ramp so the inclination (sorry) to slide remains the same, it's just the turning of the screw that is affected.

Jazz Bass control circuits (passive) - what works for you?
tauzero replied to JapanAxe's topic in Bass Guitars
Undo the control plate screws. Lift out the control plate. Unsolder the pickup wires. Get another control plate and put a V/Blend/T or proper V/B/active tones in instead. And if you're wondering why I'm posting this at 4am on Christmas Day, so am I.
