  1. Past hour
  2. I only have two , a 4 and a 5. Both quite cheap cheating isn’t really a thing for me
  3. Ha ha yep I do the same. I find joy in playing cheapy basses even though I know my “better” ones would be great. Sometimes I just love the chance to play seven shades out of a cheap bass on stage and making it work for me. I do feel bad when I leave a bass at home as they are meant to be gigged. First world problems tho eh
  4. There is a snobbery about this kind of thing, when all that really matters is that the end product sounds good. Having listened to numerous DB players, some of whom are revered, some dots (other markers are available) would help immeasurably. I’d rather see lines and dots than listen to pitchy playing.
  5. The wood is looking so good, why bother? A double bass with dots/blocks would look... strange? Luminous side dots is another story.
  6. Nice lateral thinking.
  7. Wondering just how wierd I am for having these issues over inanimate objects.... I've got a beautiful Sandberg TT which was a 10 yr anniversary gift from my wife. It's amazing and I delight in it every i play it. Feel very lucky to own it. But I've recently bought a Sire Z3 as something cheaper to use in less salubrious venues and as I'd fancied sampling the stingray-ish vibe.... and I bloody love it. Massively exceeded all my expectations and I just love the sound. Got a gig tomorrow where there's no reason not to take the Sandberg, but I really want to use the Z3. Genuinely feel a sense of guilt about it. Anyone else feel any qualms like this?
  8. They are a rare beast, but absolutely no technical reason they can't be made. Kiesel's Vader Bass ticks all the boxes with the right configuration, and if you go custom built then Sei and Shuker definitely make them, as I'm sure could many other luthiers.
  9. @tauzero answered so well to the first question! Even 48 V high wattage (CV, constant voltage) stripes can withstand reverse voltage. 9 V to a 4.5 V stripe (very odd voltages, both of them) will degrade the lifetime a lot, if the system works well. Two similar systems can be connected in series to double the input voltage. It is feasible to connect the stripe to a driver before connecting the system to a line especially if the system is CC (constant current). Battery powered small systems should be able to manage hot swap, just like CV (constant voltage) systems.
  10. It would. But I've just paid <ahem!!> for fitted furniture. 😪 Have a great Christmas, @scrumpymike 🍷
  11. She's Indian.
  12. If I bought another identical LED strip and wired them in series — i.e. 2 × 4.5v strips connected in series powered by a 9v power supply, that should work shouldn't it?
  13. Keith McMillen KMI 12 Step and MIDI Expander This is the original KMI 12 Step Controller. It can be used as a set of bass pedals, to trigger chords, samples or even drum sounds. I’ve used it with a variety of synth modules for adding strings and organ for live gigs. I’m now playing more keyboards live so I’ve gone back to my Hammond bass pedals. There is software online to hook it up to a computer or iPad but I’ve always used it with hardware and it has done the job really well. I’ve colour coded the ins and outs with tape but can remove if required I’ve also taped the note names on the unit as I found it easier to see live. I used masking tape so it’s easy to remove without much residue to clean. KMI has now been rebranded as Muse Kinetics since Keith McMillen sadly died last year. Support is still available for all the KMI branded versions of their products. It’s really small and neat compared to a traditional bass pedal controller and weighs next to nothing. The unit itself is slim and made from woven carbon fibre. I have the original (tatty) packaging for both the pedals and the expander. I’ve included a link so you can see what it does. The Mark 2 version retails at around £435 street. The included MIDI expander was bought separately for £65 as I wanted to integrate it with my outboard hardware rather than use it with my computer. Postage at buyer’s cost UK only. No trades.

  14. Great little cab, I love mine
  15. My band is looking to get gigs with a pub that's part of the Stonegate group. We spoke to the bar staff and were told to use the Seagate?? portal as the way to contact them. I can't seem to find such a portal - and I'm not sure I've got the name right - so before I go back to them thought I'd ask if anyone here can point me in the right direction. Thanks.
  16. Shure GLXD16 In excellent condition and comes with an extra battery too for the transmitter which is handy. Comes in the original box too and THE best wireless system I have ever used. I have the newer + version and this is my spare which I have never needed really, it's been on my back up board. I can take more pics for anyone interested and collection from me in Hexham is more than welcome too. Price includes UK Tracked Postage

  17. A bit of semi-interesting stuff is the design of the Altec A-7. The woofer horn had two purposes. One was increased sensitivity in the lower mids, but the other was to time align the acoustic centers of the drivers. The aligning procedure was to wire the HF driver reverse polarity, feed the speaker with a sine wave at the crossover frequency, then slide the HF horn on its sled atop the cab back and forth until the SPL reading was at a minimum. That placed the acoustic centers of the drivers correctly. Swap the polarity on the HF driver back and it was good to go.
  18. I can’t decide what to do regarding fretboard markers. I’m looking at dots or hollow blocks like these or just have no markers at all.
  19. Today
  20. She was born the year it was released. And she is American. I don't doubt she's not listened to it before.
  21. The PSU (built into a harley benton spaceship power board) has outputs for 9v, 12v, and 18v.
  22. I have two dots on the face on the fingerboard at the octave and a fourth above (where the 12th and 17th frets aren't). Some people are quite scathing about the idea and it tends to get shot down in online discussions, but then a surprising number of better players than me have dots up in thumb position so I'm not going to feel bad about it. It does help me to feel a little more confident in venturing up there, and I'm using the small side dots from a set of guitar dot stickers, so it's neat looking but easily undone.
  23. Virtually new Fender Bassman 100 cover from Roqsolid, i got it to use while my flightcase was being manufactured so was only used briefly. Its a little dusty but will wipe. They're about £65 new + shipping Cover is in Hope Valley, happy to post within UK, probably gonna cost a tenner just for how small it doesn't fold up.
  24. Just made a video with my latest pedalboard iteration. Reduced to a minimum...for now. I'll see how it develops from here
