Most had already seen this in the for sale section and have already expressed its cool factor, this thread was abouts it's tone. So, sir... I have to conclude... it is in fact YOU that has missed the point. 20 lashes...

All those pedals could make a piece of string tied to a broom sound decent! The question is, how does it sound acoustically and going direct?

Only five more to go. This is the tune 'Maria' from the Dave Grusin 'West Side Story' recording - I love the transition from ballad to swing but watch the tempos as they are clearly directed in the studio by someone conducting. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/maria-dave-grusin/

If filing is needed - I have done it before, not an enjoyable job, but takes a couple minutes and tries. And I had to file a brand new EMG, not a £16 one, so I had very sweaty hands... 😁 -
How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

There was a genuine reason for him being late in the form of a road closure. He did phone the band leader when he knew about the delay. He toured a few years ago with a band that had a minor hit in the 1960s, and currently gigs regularly as a singer/guitarist with backing tracks. The BL had made contact with him via Facebook. My impression of him was that he talked a good game! -
Then that must be definitely lighter than my 8.4lb/3.8kg one. Mine is the blue colour variation of this same bass on this very page, and the clear difference is the ash VS alder body.

That really is quirky but good quirky for me. I’m not the biggest fan of that particular headless bridge and retainer (quite fiddly) but certainly functional. I really like the body contouring - organic and pebble-like. This looks passive - do you know if they’re single coil or humbuckers? Also, is it possible to achieve a low action?

If I'd ever get a new bass just for the purpose of tinkering, I'd still go HB! My current tinker bass is the Ibanez Talman TMB30 shortie, that was like £170 back when I got it. I think it's £200-ish nowdays. And I had some quality issues with it, like a seriously bent tuner, but I did not mind as I planned to put on black schallers from the 1st moment 😁 I think the HB out of box quality is higher at this point than even a similarly priced Ibanez.

If no one used social media, this couldn't happend and quite frankly the world would be a far better place for so many many reasons. In principle, so many human inventions are originally designed for good and moral reasons, however, inevitably, we as humans coat that good intention in a thick, indelible layer or evil tar that can never be removed once it infiltrates the good.

In my opinion the 1000MA is a very overlooked and underrated bass. It is a bit lighter than all the 414/424 basses, it features a better bridge and I like reverse pickup configuration. The red inlays are a matter of taste but the overall body shaping looks so great... a very handy bass with a really good tone. I love them.
