  2. Hi Tim, The point of what I suggested is that you isolate the ground to the mic itself. I assume in the example you quoted, someone has lifted the ground elsewhere, so the mic is still connected to the PA ground via the cable shield, and therefore any potential in the PA earth plane is earthed through your mouth and guitar/amp. I think this is more likely than it travelling from your guitar earth to the PA earth if you're saying the ground was removed? If you remove the shield from the mic, the casing of the mic should not be connected to earth and therefore stop you getting belts. Maybe I have misunderstood what you meant.
  3. For sale this really awesome instrument, built late ’90 basses used by Randy Hope Taylor (Incognito), Larry Graham, etc superb japan craftsmanship Walnut body maple neck, very slim and comfortable profile ebony fingerboard bartolini custom pickups and preamp (2 band) gold hardware weight 4.9 kg some little signs of use, nothing too evident hardcase included bass located in Italy price is 1600 € EUROS plus shipping
  4. First coats of oil….this bass will be for sale when finished so if you fancy it, get in touch.
  5. I've only known one person, a guitarist, who did that. He also didn't know the difference between B minor and B flat.
  6. The Beta is an amazing pedal, it does that Ampeg B-15 saturated thing very well and it gives you a slight low end bump, which I always found perfect for fingerstyle. If I am not mistaken, this is the 2nd colour scheme of the 1st version of the Beta. The original run had orange lettering and graphics, and the subsequent run had this dark gray/black finish. I own this 2nd colour scheme. Then SolidGold FX issued the DLX version, with a lot of features and a switchable boost. And then, the 3rd iteration came out, the MKII, where you could defeat the preamp with a top-mounted toggle, which bypassed the gain. Same pedal essentially with the added feature. They also made high-gain, germanium, LM308... versions of the Beta too. The current version you can buy off the shelf is the Beta V. GLWTS! It's a really cool pedal.
  7. My ability was never going to justify the cost of a 'real' one (or the amount of use it'd get). So, a Chinese SUB with a Stinger preamp and Nordstrand MM4.2 pickup, converted tounlined fretless, with a new rosewood fingerboard. Close enough for me to noodle on at home. Now, wherever did I lay my hat?
  8. Probably better to go private from here on if that’s ok.
  9. When I'm not going wireless I use one of two leads OBBM made for me back in 2010. Before that I was using a couple of leads I made myself in 1979. I'm still using XLR cables I made up in the mid 90s. Get something made with decent quality components and don't abuse it and it will last you forever.
  10. Very nice.
  11. This, this and this. Imagine the force with which you'd kick yourself if they were a Fender with a 3 digit serial number, or one of only 20 made. Whatever the rule is, do NOT sell it. I absolutely guarantee you'll live to regret it. Maybe not for a few years, but you will.
  12. Great that you are happy with the sound and tonal options. The first thing I did with Squiers in the past was replace all the electronics: pickups, pots, capacitor, jack socket and shield the cavities with copper tape. Good that they have improved in that area. Of course, I would still do it but that is because I like tinkering and for £35 Tone Rider SP1, or2 blows everything else out of the water. 😀
  13. That’s cute!
  14. Yeah, that fine with me but would need to be after 6 when i get home from work.
  15. I'm the process of selling off the last of the guitars and basses that I no longer use regularly. At one point I had over 40. When I'm finished I'll have 5 or 6. I did the same with all my keyboards and MIDI sound modules. Now I have a single controller keyboard for programming my DAW. While it was nice to have a large musical instrument collection, IMO there's little point in owning things that I don't use and are unlikely to use any time soon. They are better off in the hands of people who will actually play them.
  16. Just got my SUB back. Stinger preamp and Nordstrand MM4 pickup. 10% of the cost of the Pino one, for 10% of the ability!!
  17. A '👋" text and then block them all 🙂
  18. Why did I start bass ? I was learning acoustic guitar when a mate played me this song on an VHS video , ( over 40 years ago ) and I was hooked . I wanted to be John Taylor ,shame I didn’t have the talent or the looks . Yes , I still enjoy playing , but I enjoy other stuff as well . First bass , Yamaha BB1200 , Yamaha Musikland were selling them off 1/2 price . Current bass , 7 precisions 2 Jazzes and a Wal .
  19. Blown away by these. The 101 is the most accurate Moog reproduction I’ve tried. Stunning work. The 251 is great at condensing the original CP-251 features that you are most likely to use with a pedal. It’s only downside is that it does not have expression through. I have already suggested this to the builder for future mods and they seemed keen. With expression through, the 251 will become a seriously powerful addition to many pedalboards.
  20. This. And he gives better reasons than I did. I agree with you, as Treebeard said “don’t be hasty..”
  21. Thank you, Phil. That is very interesting and, dare I say, illuminating!!
  22. If that video is anything to go by, they are definitely trying to move away from their Radio 2 image! Seriously though, apart from a JMJ, using a pick and Fender Bassman gear, it is hard to tell from that what is going on in his signal chain. The camera rarely lands on the bass player, let alone their pedal board. Guessing is fun but why don’t you message them on instagram, or TikTok to ask? P.S. For people as old as me: remember when you used to be able to write to Melody Maker to ask stuff like this and they would get onto the artist/band’s management?
  23. If it holds emotional and good memories and you don’t need the money then I’d say keep it, they don’t take up much space and you could play it now and again just to keep things working
  24. I'm not going to do anything in a hurry. It's been there years, I'm not going to do anything rash.
