  2. A little update to my board which is mostly for fretless. A new addition is the Fender Bassman Driver which just adds a bit of grit. It's an awesome pedal and is perfect to cut through at certain points. The pedalboard is tight for space and not sure what I'm going to do when I get my hands on a MXR Bass Synth pedal. From right to left. 1. TC Electronic Tuner 2. Boss OC5 Octave 3. Fender Bassman Driver 4. Harley Benton CH5 Chorus (Best chorus I've ever had) 5. Walrus Audio Slo Reverb 6. 3. But if there must be a PG, then I'd rather it was clear over a woodgrain.
  4. A bit of an unusual one! I bought this bass made from high quality parts from the Bass Gallery for just shy of £800 (in old money 😆) a few years ago. - Shuker Custom Neck - 33” scale, rock maple, satin finish (slightly worn), 2mm side dots, carbon fibre reinforcement, two way truss rod, spalt rosewood fingerboard, flat radius, slight asymmetric carve, medium, Stainless Steel Frets - 38.5mm Graphite Nut - Hipshot D-Tuner - worn Fender Jazz Body - 2 x Di Marzio DP 149 Ultra Jazz Pickups (hum-cancelling) - Pickups Mounted In Adjustable Rosewood Ramp (flat radius/profile to match the fingerboard) - Babicz FCH Bridge - Weight: I don't have a scale unfortunately. It feels like an average jazz, I'd say on the lighter side of average. Definitely not a heavy bass. - Overall condition: obviously relic'ed, but this is only cosmetic. No structural issues, everything is solid. The bass stays in tune well by experience. Asking £700. Collection in Cambridge preferred. I'm also in North London fairly often. Shipping is possible but there is no case with this bass. No trades unfortunately. 5. You can usually treat bursitis with things like rest, ice packs and painkillers. But prevention being better than the cure, @Happy Jack has a video on here somewhere, showing how to warm up before playing, which will help prevent reoccurrence.
  6. I have a crap Lenovo tablet looking for a use as I've ordered a galaxy tab to replace it for work. It is very slow, but It could serve for setlists/prompts especially if depping. Is there a good android app, or am I best off just having a pdf. The ideal would be a setlist, andvrap.on a song brings up a page of notes/condensed tab/chord chart or whatever... Main requirements- never goes blank, stable - doesn't easily disappear or crash. Big letters.
  7. I had elbow bursitis. Doctor said it should sort itself but come back if it inflames. A few days later it went a funny colour and very hot. Horse-sized antibiotics and it then got better. My main issue is arthritis but playing seems to be the best treatment. Plus I had vestibular neuritis come on at a gig, fortunately the lying down vomiting phase came on after I got my gear away... a week in hospital and a month later still having the odd bout of nausea.
  8. I believe he is the son of the late great John Giblin who is probably my favourite bass player.
  9. I've put together/swapped around miscellaneous Precision/Jazz parts and have never had an issue. (There was one where the holes didn't align, so I had to re-drill.) Warmoth body with Status Graphite neck, Squier body with Mighty Mite Neck. The same body with a Fender MIM neck. My Frankenstin bass, with Status Graphite neck. The Mighty Mite fretless neck made its way onto a MIM Jazz body. A Fender MIM lined fretless neck temporarily on a Squier body; I might be waiting for a nice Jazz body to appear at some point.. I've also got a Squier neck I've used temporarily on one or two of those bodies. I previously had a Warmoth/Status Graphite lined fretless. This was the earlier Fender MIM neck on a Squier body (I think I put a Squier neck on that and sold it on).
  10. TBH I'll need to take it off and check. I'll post back here.
  11. That's works with me, I'll send you a PM with the details.
  12. Heh, the Talbot! We used to go there as teenagers because they weren't too fussy about asking for ID 😁 I've made a small donation to Dorothy House in exchange for this unexpected trip down memory lane!
  13. That's beautiful... do the Thumb rest holes go through to the body?
  14. But... is it good for metal?
  15. First the bad news: These are traditonal technology speakers - No light weight speakers or cabinets. Hence these weigh in at 46Kg each, which is why I am moving them on, just too heavy for me to lug around anymore. Also the foam fronts are completely shot and need replacing if you want foam fronts. Apart from that if it is all positive. These are Shermann speakers, serious professional bits of kit - see the reviews. I know that almost everything claims to be professional these days, but these really are. These speakers are 770mm high 480mm wide at the font and 250mm wide at the back. and weigh 46Kg each!. They are probably about 30 years old, so traditional technology & desgin, hence the weight. Not the sort of weight I want to be lugging about anymore, hence moving them on. Can't see it on the photgraph, but I believe that the 15" bass units are Beymer, the tweeters are definitely and the 6.5" mirange are both Audix. Shermann informed me that they are 8 ohm, and are good for at least 400W each (See attached notes from Shermann). Despite being 30 years old these still sound as good as ever, as far as I can tell. They were oginally installed at the Theatr Hafren, Newtown, Powys, and we bought them from Shermann when they we theatre was being upgraded. - and had top hats fitted at the same time. I have used them in folk dance bands (including a sousaphone) and rock bands for front of house - easily enough to fill a typical pub or village hall, and even used them outside in a pub garden and for PA and background music on a village playing field. They have also been used as side-fill foldback on a pretty large stage. The weight is a downside, for portable use, but they would be ideal for someone considerably younger/stronger than me, or for use in a permantent installation. Unlikely to need subs with these unless you are a dub nut or something. One of my tests for a PA system is the human voice, and these are brilliant for that,i.e. apart from the volume you wouldn't know that they are there! I attach various photos. As I say I'm looking for £350 for the pair. As you will have guessed, pickup only, but that gives you the chance to try them out! Due to its weight: COLLECTION ONLY, but that gives you the chance to try it out. NOTE THAT: As part of the clear out I have listed/will soon be listing: Laney 100W 15" combo. Behringer BEQ3012 two channel 32 band equaliser with feedback detection. Two Shermann PA cabinets (15" + 6" + tweeter). Seriously professional bits of kit. 12 + 4 15m Snake cable/box 12 + 4 25m Snake cable/box Behringer FBQ6200 32 band, 2 channel equaliser with feedback detection. Large base tall lighting Various LED lighting units & controllers Ibanez SR505 Bass.
  16. I was out already for the Kay, but I've gone for a s/h spectracomp.
  17. The Incredible String Bend The Amazing Blundell
  18. I haven’t bought anything since April. Thats quite good for me.
  19. I bought one of these last week for not a lot. It still needs a bit of work, but it's remarkably good for a Chickenbacker.
  20. I’m going to buy my dog a new precision. She showed some interest in a photo, maybe she’ll manage to get a sound out of it if I wedge a dog chew between the strings and then I’ll have a free pass on that purchase
  21. No Reply At All - Genesis
  22. I’m contemplating a Backbeat after the weekend gig where as the gig went on I found it harder and harder to hear myself. Because of that I began fingering harder and harder to the point my fingers cramped up. i figure if I can feel myself playing I might be less prone to this reoccurring. I know I need to work more on technique but in the heat of the moment theory can go out of the window. A new G2 backbeat is £399 but there’s no used ones around. But there’s some used G1 units about for £170 ish So should I try a used G1 unit first and upgrade if I like it ? - or just bite the bullet and get the F2 ? Thanks in advance
