  1. Past hour
  2. The Pulse does sound great in the videos I've seen. I think it would suit me better than the Ethos. The Euro LX is pushing the budget a bit but definitely a possibility. I'm currently trying to decide whether to go 4 string and tune down to C# for the new band or just go 5 string. If I go 5 it'll avoid setup issues but the G string will probably never get used. There's also the multi scale Dimension 4 confusing matters.
  3. And it's rocking the folk world too: Accusations from stealing arrangements to modern slavery are hurtling around facebook.
  4. Honestly Chris, I wish you just come off the fence about these things at times 🤣🤣
  5. Yep, have to agree with you @Mickeyboro! Pete's basses not only look great, they sound great too... ... As anyone who attended the 13th South East Bass Bash in 2019 will know. Pete was one of our guest speakers that day and gave a great demo of some of his custom builds: I'm not a fretless player, but I know a great sounding bass / fretless bass when I hear one, and Pete's bass really do sound great! As is often said around here, whoever buys this bass will not be disappointed. GLWTS Pete 👍😊
  6. They are great cabs Dave, I had two of the ones with tweeters (tho never used those), only ever used both for show as one was plenty enough.
  7. Sorry Chris, it's a lovely looking thing and £450 is a very fair price, but I can't justify it at the moment.
  8. Wood varies massively. I”ve had 8lb jazz basses and 10lb jazz basses. Each tree is unique so it’s impossible for basses to all weight the same for a particular model.
  9. Saves carrying both my Mesa Subway cabs up those bloomin stairs. I aint getting any younger you know. 😂 The practice rig you used is the Mpulse 600 into my Mesa PH212 cab but both are quite heavy. Don't keep the Mesa Subway cabs in the house cause i'm getting lazy. I think the Barefaced cab sounds similar to the Mesa PH212 cab tho. Not much in it. The PH212 is better than the Subway cabs for tone IMO but not much in it either. The Barefaced is 24Kg same as one of my Mesa cabs so it just makes sense and having wheels on the back edge makes it easy to wheel once up those stairs. Not looking forward to the stairs but the gig should be great fun. Its a good crowd in Dundee or it was last time we played. Hope they all come back for more. Dave
  10. 100% he'll love it. My VM4 is my goto bass for everything. I did use the MarloweDK with the punk band but now that's finished its become my back up for the VM4. I have used it on occasion at a Glam gig and it works quite well. Guitarist likes the Marlowe and my wife says it sounds clearer than the VM4. No matter what they are superb basses @martthebass Dave
  11. That`s high praise indeed Dave having had a play through your man cave amp and cab setup which was rather loud I take it the only way in the Beat Gen is up those bloomin stairs? Good job the new cab is an easy lift. Have fun!
  12. It's similar, but different. Not the Tal Wilkenfeld model.
  13. … err one two miss a few … 😂 … so when you say comps, do you mean total number or different ones 🤣 I also managed to get one of @LukeFRC Aotearoa pedals, super impressed with the whole concept behind the project, from scaling down an existing circuit, enclosure selection and graphic design. Top stuff 😎
  14. … but more likely this 😆 https://www.cogeffects.co.uk/antwright.php
  15. … think it’s a tuner 🤣
  16. ....and man the title made me laugh, surely the exception in courier tales should be the bad stories, not the good ones
  17. Yes he did, EVRI's prime directive is f*** THE f***ING CUSTOMER AT EVRI f***ING OPPORTUNITY (it's how they got their name in the rebranding of what was at the time the World's worst ever courier......)

  20. EVRI's problem isn't it's individual members of staff, it's systemic DGAF attitude endemic at every level of the culture, from leadership to IT to customer service to drivers. Nice that the guy helped in this case, but he shouldn't have to, if anyone in that f***ing useless business gave a f*** about ensuring their systems actually work you wouldn't have had to dick about in the first place
  21. This is more of an indictment of the hardware issued to the pick up points. That said, fair play to the actual Evri driver.
  22. Gibson EB0 1968/69 Bass USA This old bass comes complete with original tug bar, working mute and bridge cover. The big Gibson mud-bucker is stock and sounds massive. Short scale, set neck with pearl inlays and rosewood board. Mahogany body. I replaced the foam in the bridge as an old yellow kitchen sponge was in it when I bought it. The screws holding the cover in place look newer to me and there is some more modern looking wire connecting to the jack in the control plate. See pics. The other thing I did was to replace the G tuner as it was slipping (in ‘68 Gibson were using imported tuners from their Kalamazoo range to keep up with orders as interest in the bass hit it’s peak). On the headstock picture you can see the original which I will include. When I took the tuner off Schallers or similar had been fitted at some point but then returned to stock. It is strung with Thomastik Jazz flats. When I bought it the bass was wearing the heaviest, nastiest mix of black nylon Rotos and round wounds but the neck had managed to stay straight. The bass has had no neck or headstock repairs. It’s lovely to play and nice and light but resonant. It is a one trick pony but it does that trick very well and I found it very musical. The action is low and the string tension low so unplugged it’s quite buzzy. Played through an amp it sounds great but at the time I was using it I was recovering from a fretting hand op so playing it now it could probably do with the action raising. I’m out of action again with rotator cuff so can’t do this at the moment. The trussrod works properly and the frets have life in them but are probably due for a crown. I bought it with a pretty nifty home made case. I would think it rare to find one with all its original hardware. UK only sorry. No trades, pickup preferred so you can try it out but I can post if that’s difficult. It’s a gigged, vintage bass over half a century old so lots of finish checking (that looks gorgeous) and dings. The pictures show it strung with D’Addarios but the bass is now wearing Thomastik flats as per description.

  25. this got sold thought id updated, had to delete a load of pics to make room
  26. Ive not posted my last clutch of new pedals, theres been a couple 🤣 Aotearoa intermodulator - built by the wonderful @LukeFRC its a Prunes and custard clone, but very small and rediculously well made. Its a damn funky touch sensitive synthy fuzz. Diamond Bass comp Jnr- id forgotten how great these are, subtle fatness and sheen, works beautifully with other pedals, this is for the big fusion board. MXR Bass chorus Deluxe- i love this pedal, lovely subtle but warm chorus, with a fantastic Flanger and the best colour. EBS Multi comp - one of my favourite, with three great sounding modes. This is for the smaller board used for my rock and soul bands. Emma Okto Nojs - dual pedal, versatile octave and a synthy octave up fuzz as well as an octave down fuzz, very synthy. Subdecay Prometheus filter- very resonant and versatile filter, tons of synthy sounds available, not the easiest to dial in, bur rewarding when you do. Best used with octave /fuzz as its not really a bootsy type filter
