  1. Past hour
  2. Wow 😮
  3. I'd snap this up but my finances are not so healthy these days.
  4. What Hodge said above
  5. Longer throw, via the speakers being in the nearfield condition so the level drops by 3dB per doubling of distance rather than 6dB, only occurs when the line is at least three wavelengths high. That's easy enough at 5kHz or higher, not so much at 100 Hz, where three wavelengths is about ten meters. Wider horizontal dispersion, twice as wide above roughly 300 Hz, is the main advantage with other than Grateful Dead Wall of Sound back lines.
  6. Thanks. It is a really nice bass, but it's just being wasted with me not using it.
  7. You will, because it puts drivers closer to your ear level. It's one reason why 810s are so popular.
  8. Looks like this one has reappeared with a slight increase , sold for £2300.00
  9. This is a lovely finish on a great bass. Swiss Army knife of sounds. glwts
  10. From recall the most comfortable flats I’ve used were Dunlops. I’ve never consciously noticed a grabby feel on any but maybe the Dunlops don’t have it and that’s why I found them so nice to play.
  11. How about some radioactive side dots? https://www.reidtimber.co.uk/edc/luminous-tritium-side-dot-markers

  13. I've two of the 4 Ohm 20W resistors. One is a spare and I've tested the one in-situ. A kind basschatter has sent me a few Goldwood GT-1016's to use. Once they arrive I'll test and see how they work and compare and contrast. Slowly getting there. Rob
  14. I got this from Bass Direct at the back end of last year mainly as a nice portable little to stick with a 10 inch speaker and make a restrained amount of noise with a mate in Mexico (a daft 110v country) knowing I would be moving back to 220/240 and not wanting to buy something I could only use for a short time. It did that job very well, but it also picked up a couple of small scratches because the noise making was partially an excuse to have a couple of beers and the carry bag is nice and convenient to fit in a gig bag front pocket but not padded so it doesn't stop your keys or the end of a jack plug scraping through. Shown in the pics and very much just cosmetic. Also works nicely as a basic home practice amp that can get loud enough to wake next door but one if you happen not to like your neighbours. And the aux in means you can play along to your favourites from the hit parade via one of those new digital music players or even a computer! Wild, wild stuff 😎 It's Phil Jones so it's a lovely clean sound. Passive / active switch also makes an appreciable difference when you remember to use it. I rather like the look of it as well. Brushed aluminium, ergonomic nobs, blueness. All good things in my book. I wouldn't be unhappy if this doesn't sell but I also have other things that do this and more, albeit not with the same sweet sound, and I am trying to cobble together some cash as something has caught my eye.... Can post, would probably be around a tenner.....

  15. Foundation & Empire - Level 42
  16. Some close ups as requested.
  17. I had several of those 50 Bassman heads , wound up selling them to guitar players. Great little heads , and not all that heavy.
  18. Today
  19. In my 20s I was playing a lot and living in single room bedsits and moving often, I always had at least 4 basses/guitars with me and could move all my belongings in a small hatchback (this was the late 90s when there were pretty small). Guess it’s about priorities 🎸🎸🎸🎸😂
  20. Welcome , my first shortscale was a Longhorn , one of the first reissues in the late 90’s. And at first I really did not care for the shorter scale. Somehow the more I played it , the more I liked it. And for many years was my primary bass. My number 1 today is a medium scale. I prefer the shorter scale , but it’s a lovely bass.
  21. Hey! Rise of the robots. Stranglers
  22. Thank you, after thinking more about it I decided to buy an additional MarkBass cab to match my existing cab Thank you for considering to meet halfway though
  23. Decided to put up my awesome (and unfortunately no longer made) Spector LT5 in Violet Fade for sale. This has been my main touring bass for the last two years and has seen some action at Glastonbury, Green Man and many more festivals that I can't even remember! Despite being my main bass I have really looked after the bass and it's in excellent condition. No dings or dents just light surface scratches that every guitar gets from being played! The bass has a 3 piece maple neck with alder body wings and a very nice flamed maple top, which is almost holographic and almost impossible to photo! 😂 The bass has a very nice ebony fingerboard, MOP Spector crown inlays, Gotoh lightweight tuners, brass nut, Dunlop straplocks, Custom wound to Spector spec Bartolini pickups and Darkglass preamp, and thr finish is so good it's ridiculously reflective and shiny.. again making it difficult to take good photos! The bass plays very nicely and sounds phenomenal. The bass is 35" scale and the low B is the best I've experienced on a high end bass. Currently strung with Dunlop Super Bright Steels. Sale includes the Spector gig bag. Looking for £1800 due to excellent condition and I think collection is needed. I have the boxes it came in but I don't feel comfortable shipping it without a hardcase.

  24. @Bill Fitzmaurice's original plans specify only a 4Ω 20W resistor in series between the input and the piezos.
