  1. Past hour
  2. that is the version i tried , diPiazza. it was nice. the very moment you played bit more powerful more 'flesh' to the string)) the sitar'ish sounds came up. tempting if i could get one of those again...even if it wasn't 'real fl-playing'. i missed the slides. ...and yes, difficult set up
  3. The Truth Is... (I Lied About Everything) - Theory of a Deadman
  4. I was told the Spiros (which is what I have) are used by lots of jazzers. They’re perfect for learners (but never bowing!)
  5. The problem is that Robert Neuser disappeared from the radar a few years ago, so finding an NFS will be quite hard and it's a pain in the derrière to set up, but when you've found the perfect set up, it's working great. And there is also the Dominique Di Piazza fretless bridge which is derived from the NFS and will make your fretted bass sound like a fretless all the time. Mike Sabre made two fiver bass models for him that you can buy. A friend of mine owns the first iteration and may be willing to sell it (and as you live in Germany IIRC, the bass is in Brussels, so easier for you, should you be interested). This is the second version, the first one is way more standard in terms of design.
  6. @Maude: yes, correct raised, or lowered fretboard is needed. this is possible and not too complicated. my guess is that all these prototypes we gathered are in full function, but the market simply too small i could swear there are basses alike around
  7. I do really like what this does but unemployment isn’t compatible with having 5 preamp pedals so something’s got to go. This does a nice console breakup and the Pultech EQ thing via two toggle switches. Really high quality headphone amp too. Has a high pass filter too, which isn’t seen so often. In outstanding condition with original box. (More pictures to follow.)

  8. Cheap Honesty - Skunk Anansie
  9. Im thinking about getting the above, mainly as a Phaser and OD (not at the same time). I can see the poser has 4 controls, one being level. Can anyone tell me if this is a volume level or something else? Ive been using a Blood Moon phaser after (or before) my EBS MB3, but there is always a volume jump when I engage it. I was hoping the ToneX would allow me to balance this. I was going to use, or get a Zoom pedal which i know can do this, but quite fancy thing something new.
  10. It's funny how the fan can really drive some of us nuts. The GR Bass One 350 doesn't have the Studio Mode (fan defeating), IIRC, it starts only from the 800 version on, which is close to the below mentioned head price wise, £60 more, but the possibility to totally bypass the EQ section (Pure Mode), way more power (so more headroom), 3 different low & high mids EQ presets, a fan that will start when needed (so you won't cook your head) and a built-in tuner (not that fast, but it's there). On the Eich T-300, the Taste knob is an interesting function to rapidly tame the highs.
  11. Nice... like the dark 5.
  12. Ibanez have added a couple of less expensive models to the range, the EHB600 and 605. Standard scale only so far, no multi- or short-scale. There’s also a champagne burst finish not shown in the video. G4M has them listed at £729 and £799 respectively. The most interesting part to me would be the pickups, a type I haven’t seen before called α1. They’ll be cheap, but I don’t mind that if they’re good.
  13. So I was right 😂
  14. Gimme Some Truth - John Lennon
  15. Ahhhh. Okay. Cheers!
  16. the canadian version, also as the czech seem to work. the flipping frets may be hell-of-a-lot-work to be build properly and you got to deal with the high strings from the fretted version. the fl bridge i actually tried, but not switchable. It was good, but no proper fl playing. the Neuser idea seems cool and would be simply the cheapest...bridge change. thats it !? both are pretty close to the goal somehow
  17. I wonder if you can see the side dots on this one? It's a big flaw on recent Fender RI's, IMO.
  18. Hi. I am based near Perth.
  19. … just seen that the Magellan 350 has no fx loop and the fan is audible in a quiet room (which would be where I teach). Ah well!
  20. Today
  21. Price drop to £300. Think of it as £310 worth of EMG's finest bits that come with a free bass!
  22. I too have found this book incredibly helpful in navigating RSI arm pains!! Out of desperation, I started doing the stretches in this book and they have made the problems mostly manageable. In my case, after many many years of not knowing the causes, I finally received a diagnosis, which is thoracic outlet syndrome. Essentially the same principle as carpal tunnel syndrome (in fact, it concerns the same bundle of nerves) but the pinching is not in the wrist, it is between the shoulder and the top of the rib cage. Doing breathing exercises and very specific daily gentle stretches removes 95% of the trouble for me. Doctors and physiotherapists did more harm than good, in my specific case. Be your own advocate and listen to your body!
  23. Nice, I had the same PJ bass a little while ago, albeit, I don't recall it having Duncan Designed pickups.
  24. I didn't realise how quick that I'd get the bug, and start building a collection even before I am 'gig ready'! I have played a standard guitar on and off for 30+ years, and this year I have started to learn the bass. I'm in love 😁 A mixture of face to face local lessons and also Youtube and as much practice as I can manage (in between work, family etc ..) The 5 string Squier J Bass plays Another Brick in the wall beautifully with the low b. The Yamaha BB434 is just a treat. Gorgeous tones, as is my Epiphone Thunderbird - a beautiful instrument and produces the right low quality sounds. My Ibanez is a light, narrow neck, which suits my hands really well. Thanks for having me!
