1976 Precision - All original REDUCED £2250
Nibody replied to Dannygno123's topic in Basses For Sale
If I told you how much I sold my 76 for in 2000 (With a trace elliot 7215SM combo) you’d cry. Wish I could affford this - but life’s got a bit iffy (already disabled out of the workforce and Wifey has just been diagnosed with ME and will be joining me). I loved my 76.. it was fantastic. Ruiner started following RMS Vs peak....again

Apologies, I know this has likely been done to death but couldn't find a specific answer via search. Basically my 2x12 Zilla cab is 4ohms and 600w. Just picked up a v1 Darkglass MT500, and stupidly only now realised that whilst it's 500w RMS at 4ohms, it's actually 750w peak. For those better vwrsed with this stuff than I (most people here I'd assume) Am I going to need to get a different cab or will the Zilla likely be fine as long as I'm not running the volume super high. Or is the peak of 750w always going to need to be accommodated by the speaker, regardless of volume? Greatful for any advice.

Yep. So far I have enjoyed Osees, Loyle Carner, badbadnotgood and am looking forward to watching burning spear and vieux farka toure.

I believe I have a decent understanding of the principles involved but the first time I used my LFSys cab in anger, I was asked to turn up for timer ever.

Yeah I can only assume they're hoping people are nostalgic for the original high end Cirrus line? -

It’s kind of like those folks who write in to complain about TV programs or shows “after two hours of suffering through this degenerate filth I was utterly disgusted to find there will be another episode, I can’t believe I will have to endure this again” I would recommend not bothering with Glastonbury if it bothers people so much, but with the sheer variety if you really can’t find something you like I am a little lost for words.

First official outing for the Rebbels as a four piece tonight. We have made big changes, the lead guitarist and I have decided to swap sides. Of course I mean that I will be on the drummer’s left rather than the right. Ironic that as we are playing Christchurch Conservative Club. I am really looking forward to it but will also probably be a bit more nervous than usual. Although we have not rehearsed for 2 months, I did have a get together with the Lead Guitarist on Wednesday to run through a few things. I will try to get some pics to put on the “Howxwss your gig last night” thread.

Nice score, that's a prettier top than the slightly wonky quilt I have on mine. I always assumed these were 34", I should probably check that.

Nothing between $279 and $3299?

Looking at the site it's an odd range, either stupidly cheap or (perhaps) stupidly expensive?

Back when I used to go every year in the 90s it was mainly indie/alternative bands and some dance acts with a smattering of of world music and the odd curve ball like Johnny Cash. The music scene seemed a lot more tribal back then and generally peiple who were into one 'scene' wouldn't relly listen to orher genres, or admit to liking them anyway. The whole tribal snobbery thing was epitomised by the NME of the era which delighted in sneering at anything that wasn't obscure indie, including bands that started out like that but dared to become popular which is why they infamously gave the Stone Roses debut 4/10. I think attitudes are a lot healthier today with most people happy not to pigeon hole their musical tastes into one narrow genre and I think Glastonbury has become better for widening it's line up to pretty much a bit of everything, from tiny amateur bands right up to global superstars, across multiple genres If you're at Glastonbury and you can't find something you like, you probably haven't looked hard enough.

I simply don't associate the Peavey brand with expensive. Well built, functional, reliable, yes, but I suspect that anyone looking to spend that much money would have too much (US-built) choice to opt for the Peavey?

I have to say I didn't see this one coming https://peavey.com/product/cirrus-5-wenge/ And at that price it's unlikely I'll ever see one on person. They still look pretty though...

Obrienp started following Do you use your “best” bass on gigs?
-
I guess I do. I don’t have a bass that cost more than £1K but the one that cost the most (used Maruszczyk Elwood 4a 32”) is my main bass with one band. I couldn’t afford to replace it with a new one now and I would be upset if it was nicked, or seriously damaged but instruments are not ornaments, you have to use them. The Maruszczyk doesn’t get any audience attention but the much cheaper Guild Starfire 1 does. I guess the latter is big, red and retro looking.

Nik bought my Pedal preamp from me. Extremely smooth transaction. Genuinely a nice bloke. Would trust and recommend him.

It might be worth playing about with the factory presets, although maybe not at a gig. I found the make vocal setting to really add something, making ME sound like I can sing. I also quite liked my bass with the bass guitar preset with a bit of chorus. Although I have used little chorus on bass in the past, the CQ chorus sounded good.
