The SVT amp model is clean, but with all the SVT's tonal DNA. The remedy is to put one of the overdrive blocks in front of the amp block and just hotten things up a bit. There is also a gain stage block, but I haven't tried that to drive the SVT block. Anyway, it sounds way better than all SVT modeling devices I've tried so far. I also downloaded and installed the free IR's from ShiftLine; their B15 cab simulation is my favourite so far. It gives that creamy tone I associate to old school cabs. I used it on the Quad Cortex and HX Stomp too. I sold them; one was too complicated for a guy like me, the other was a bit outdated and felt like a modeler. This one feels and sounds like the real deal. So far I have made six presets (with scenes) based on the Noble preamp, the SVT and Gallien Krueger modelings. The poly octaver and envelope sound very good; all different octavers track very well. Chorus and flanger too. Better than on the other modelers I've used. Also I try to tweak all presets to unity level. I set a bus compressor at the end of the dynamic blocks, only leaving the delay/reverb and speaker sim's after.

I think it may boil down to personal comfort and how much you'll pay to achieve it.The Anaconda will have a flatter radius, slightly longer scale and if we're talking 5 strings will have wider 19mm string spacing over Sires. That alone on paper at least puts them over Sires (I've had a few) for me. I tried a 6 string Ultra J Essence in Wunjos once and even though I have no use for the high c string I thought it was phenomenal.

Yet another example, if one were needed, of clothes that look extremely cool on someone, but when I try it I just look like a tw*t.........☹️☹️

I have a Tone City Matcha Cream, which is a green muffin type mini pedal. I don’t use it a lot, but it definitely has the fatness, though I have to keep the tone control dialed back or I lose low end.I’m not a fuzz connoisseur, but another I’m considering is the EHX Lizard King.
-
It’d be good to hear one in a side by side comparison to the more common super jazz favourites like Sadowsky (US), Overwater or Fender Ultra. I’ve had two Sire’s and never had any issues with setup, electronics or hardware but understand I might have been lucky.

… so I put together a Fretless board today that I mocked up recently on here, and then put this one together late afternoon/evening. A bit of a departure for me using a Rockboard, I found it much harder than my usual Pedaltrain builds as the staggered cut outs mean any dual lock is placed a bit too awkwardly on the pedals and board! More pics than normal as I found it way more fiddly than normal lol! … now for my next board due fairly soon I’ll be trying an Aclam setup, I’m interested in seeing how I get on with trying to make the cable runs neat on that one ha ha!

£22 for two sets of D'Addario Nickel on Amazon

I bought a three set pack of 'd'addario' acoustic guitar strings from ebay a while back. They all had the same code number and were obviously fake when I compare the pagaging to a real set. -

Today we kicked off the UK proceedings for World Goth Day (technically this Thursday but I managed to get our event listed) with a cheeky little in store record shop gig. I played mainly mandolin with some mandocello and a bit of a guitar (not bad for an old bassist). We had a pretty respectable crowd and I enjoyed the set. We even had a brief write up locally Deadlight Dance Devizine

Relived... I thought the thread was gonna be about that bit on ya healing up after a bit of a YKK encounter...

Another easy one in the main but there is a stunning little solo in the middle that requires a huge amount of sensitivity and concentration - don't be deceived by what you think you are hearing, this is tricky stuff. This is a Faberge egg of a performance from Steve Swallow on the 1987 Carla Bley album 'Septet'. The tune is called 'Lawns'. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/lawns-carla-bley-septet/

Thanks for the comments folks. Funnily enough I ended up returning the footswitch anyway as I decided it was an unnecessary accessory 👍 -

^ Similar with Adagio Flats on my P and T With the Outer Windings around half the peg... good job they are the larger Dia peg Sit better on the Ibby SR's as the E Peg is that bit further away, and maybe longer length behind the saddle.

£22 for two sets of D'Addario Nickel on Amazon

Seems slightly odd that long scale length is a custom set with a slightly heavier E. if you want standard long scale lights, the price goes up to £33 for a 2-pack. -
Good god and my wife wants to know why I need to have 3 basses 🤣
