  1. Past hour
  2. I think I could fix one if I got the chance, I do have a background in electronics and I’d love to have a go and bringing one back from the dead so let me know if you ever find one.
  3. I've been going through all same concerns, but I want to fly with a keyb0&rd. I've spoken to Ryan Air customer service ( yes, there are people who have that as a job title 😆), and they recommended buying a seat which is probably what I'll do when I travel next year. Don't forget you'll need to pay for assigned seating for both of you, and you'll need to carry it through the airport. Not such a big deal for a bass, but it is for a 15kg keyboard.
  4. Looks great! And you’re never getting your Mk3 one back, sorry, I love it too much!! On the plus side a few people have tried my amp out at gigs and they love it, so at least it’s being used to spread the GK joy around. I use mine with a modern GK CX210 and it sounds glorious. I used to wonder why you owned so many but I am constantly on the hunt for another GK, but I’d actually want a 700rb just to have a bit more power available - not been short of it to be honest but I’d like to try one and it’s always good to have spares!!
  5. Yes I do. It's not something I feel there's any ambiguity about - I play musical instruments to create music that would not exist if I had not created it. It's not for me to judge whether or not the music I make has any 'artistic value' - but I like it; since I first started dabbling in composition many thousands of years ago, I've always been motivated to try & make music I'd want to buy or go & see if I heard it. I didn't start out with any ambitions to be a composer/songwriter - I just wanted to play in a band because I loved music, and wanted to make the sort of noise my favourite bassists made! I doubt I'd still be playing at all if I'd never got beyond just playing other bassists' lines, though.
  6. It's In His Kiss - Linda Lewis
  7. Really enjoyed that 👍
  8. Two years into a house building project that’s nearing the end of- it’s bloody stressful for everyone - you gotta take care of yourself
  9. What's your set up - Rusty Box into a Sansamp or straight into an amp? Which Sansamp do you use?
  10. Ok, I've not posted in this thread for a while, but today I picked up my first 400RB MK4. It's in good nick, working fine, and sounds very nice. It doesn't sound exactly the same as the earlier MK1 and MK2, but it has it's own thing going on and I do like it. The settings on the amps in the pic are the ones which most make the amps sound like each other. Notice the lower setting on the Boost pot, as the MK4 seems to have lot more boost on tap, and also slightly more Treble and High Mid is required to make it sound like a MK2. The Mk4 also has a more pronounced bottom end, like it's extended in the lower frequency range vs the MK1 and MK2. I do perhaps regret selling my MK3 to @Minininjarob, because if I hadn't I would now have the full set!
  11. Yeah - do you know, everything will work out as it’s meant to. starting to realise we have zero control over much.
  12. Sorry to hear the above, Andy. Never rains but it pours.
  13. I play live, which is a performing art, according to the definition. Therefore, I must be an artist. I am currently sitting in a comfy chair, with my 2nd glass of wine for the evening, which potentially makes me another kind of artist . Cheers 🍷!
  14. Thanks for the compliment. There are side dots .. They are in the standard position 👍
  15. Yeah, yeah I do: I’ve got a body of work; I write songs - some are bloody good. It’s my outlet and it keeps me busy - like all artists, I’d love it to be my full time job.
  16. Afternoon Delight - Starland Vocal Band
  17. I'm 71 and have been gigging consistently since I was around 12 .My family moved back to the States from southern Spain in 1965. I remember my first band rehearsing in the basement of our home in 1967. I can't argue that we're not artists. Although I doubt I was thinking of it as art at 12 years old. Daryl
  18. And a lovely Jaydee!! 😀
  19. Oh my…weird few months. As my old band Fiasco Jam was causing me issues - detailed elsewhere… I agreed to help a mates band out - they’re well known in Manchester and have a really decent following… They’ve been on hiatus for a while and their old bass player moved back home to Italy so they were stuck. I wanted an “out” from FJ so I wrote 4 songs for them and agreed to join. Fiasco Jam folded and the singer and Drummer asked me to carry on. ”this is great, I can do both” I thought… Things have changed - work gave me a promotion, which is good…but is chewing time. The build is ongoing and costing…and stressful. My dad’s been in hospital, mum not doing great… mother in law seems to be in rapid decline. I have just “quit” the new band - no big show, but I’ve prioritised myself; I’ve spent a day learning their setlist for a gig next month. reassuringly 3 of the tunes I wrote are on the list - but I must say the old stuff isn’t really my cup of tea. I’ve sent the message, the rehearsal will be awkward tomorrow but they’ve got 5 weeks if they’re not ok with me helping out to find someone else. That’s fine by me if they do. I’ve offered to transcribe and video any lines I’ve done to help and record the EP for them if they want me to. But I think I feel reassured that it’s the right shout.
  20. Today
  21. Really good basses - GLWTS
  22. These are highly underrated basses for their price range (or even higher). I really like mine 👍😁
  23. This is already a bargain - I paid £165 for mine second-hand and was glad to find one at that price.
