  2. While we're on this topic does anybody know why on the back of the Stingray headstock there's a "line" separating it from the neck? I've always wanted to know. Not sure if this applies to pre Ernie Ball models.
  3. Ooooohhhh. 🥰 I sincerely hope the gig isn't a Motorhead tribute act at the local pub.
  4. A full set of Spot On templates to make a Stingray style bass. Bought for an idea then changed my mind! Decent templates made from 9mm MDF. They haven’t been used though I have sanded the neck template very slightly as it was about 1mm too wide for the pocket. It is now a tight fit. For reference, if you are planning using a standard USA scratch plate then note the position on these templates is a couple of mm different (easy to adjust template position when building). Cheers

  8. Lovely bass, is it me or has the headstock been subtly changed at the end? It may be the angle, it looks more rounded.
  9. I'm partial to a pointy headstock. As much as I like the idea of something pointy all over I've not really played a type of music that suits it.

  12. The Tobias Classic 6 bass with serial number 2105 dates to the period immediately following Gibson's acquisition of Tobias, dating to late 1992 or early 1993. Production Period Details Gibson Transition: Michael Tobias sold the company to Gibson in 1990. Basses with serial numbers up to 2044 are considered the last "California" models (made in Burbank, Los Angeles). Nashville Production: Serial number 2105 follows the last California production serial number, indicating that this particular instrument was one of the first produced at Gibson's new facility in Nashville, Tennessee. The entire original luthiers did not relocate to Nashville, leading to differences in the production process compared to previous models. Features: Despite the change of location, the first basses produced in Nashville retained many of the original design features. This 6-string bass likely still features the asymmetrical neck and original Bartolini pickups/preamps. In short, your Tobias Classic 6 is a historic example that marks the transition from Michael Tobias' original ownership to Gibson's, making it an interesting piece for collectors and enthusiasts.
  13. These are great and I am only selling as I just upgraded to the BCB-90x. It’s set up with the daisy chain all in place. You just need to add your pedals and patch cables. Cut for six Boss sized pedals. Price includes UK postage. Check my feedback and buy with confidence. PayPal or bank transfer preferred.
  14. Owned from new for around 12yrs, I bought this from Thomann and had it set up for Rockabilly. It definitely feels a step up from the entry level basses and I have used it live a lot. Most of its life has been more of feature in my living room though. The last couple of years I have been coming to terms with the fact that I need to sell it. Space is at a premium, it rarely gets used and I am of an age where the EUB seems the easier option. The specs are here Thomann link if anyone is interested. I added a pickup which has been useful - a David Gage Realist. People often call it a copper head. They’re industry standard and normally about £120 used. Mine is included with the bass at no extra cost to you. There is a tatty (by my high standards) gig bag and the strings are currently Gut-A-Like vintage ones Gut A Like strings You’ll see I added a few stickers. These should be fairly easy to remove. I’m happy to do it, or I can leave it. Equally I am happy to add more pictures. It’s currently lent against the wall in my place in Hungerford, where I am Sunday to Thursday evenings. Postage looks too hard to do so it would be a collection. I have gotten it in a Peugeot 107 before - not comfortably, so perhaps don’t bring the family if collecting!

  15. I’m a big fan of Boss pedals and have just re-done my board. I went a bit mad recently and have a fair few that are surplus to my requirements. All are boxed (initially the OC3 was listed as unboxed but I have since found the box) and only the super overdrive has Velcro on the bottom. I would grade these as at least 9/10 in terms of condition. Prices include UK postage. Boss Octave OC3 - £85 Boss Tuner TU3 - £70 Boss Super Chorus CH1 - £75 Boss Super Overdrive - £60 Boss Bass Overdrive - £80 I looked around online and believe these are priced to sell. Check my feedback thread and buy with confidence. PayPal or balance transfer preferred.

  16. Lovely performance and especially lovely basswork 👍
  17. I’ll be honest I had a touring/spyder way back and didn’t like it, but my beloved trace amp has finally crapped out and is no longer repairable. So now considering an RM, but being class D is it reliable ?A pf 500 and a mb 500 I had both went wrong, hence why I ended up with a trace. Because at least I thought it was repairable, but it has served me well the last nine years. So I guess the question is can a RM do the trace thing, any thoughts ?

  24. Dakota Red – clear building up nicely 🔥 Colour’s locked in and now it’s all about the clear. Got the first sessions of nitro clear on and it’s starting to build properly. You can see the depth coming through already — that wet look beginning to form before it’s even been near paper or a mop. A couple more coats of clear to really bury everything and give me some material to level back, then it’ll be hung up to cure while I try very hard not to keep wandering into the workshop “just to look at it”. So far it’s laying down well — no drama, no major sags, just that lovely glossy build that makes you believe you know what you’re doing. Flat, polish, then the real shine. MGCS – Made to Play, Built to Last.
