  1. Past hour
  2. Still got mine. Must dig it out again
  3. Just as well the Ukrainian born jewish Abel Meeropol had no such qualms or it would never have been written.
  4. I did, I was exagerating, which is an effect people sometimes use in communication for effect. I am sorry I didn't clarify in my post that it was there for effect, I thought it might have been obvious. They could also be wrong*. Funny thing with the licensed barts, you can pick it up, play it, think "oh that sounds alright", then play it at a gig and think, "oh the sound on that gig wasn't good, must be the set up", and continue like this until you realise after a while when you go to pick up a bass to noodle on when there is a choice, the one with the licensed barts isn't the one you are picking up. I dont' know what it is, there are many people out there using them as their only bass and they won't really have a problem until they get something else. I always think ibanez do themseles no favours using them, the amount of times you hear that people like the basses but think the sound is bland or generic and discount them, then play the premium and think it is a much better bass, when it is actually just a prettier bass with better pickups. * note, this is an opinion, not a literal truth.
  5. I'm A Sinner - Madonna
  6. Cracking amp and a price that makes you wanna do this face 🥴 Class A/B = proper tones!
  7. Furthermore Freddie Washington doesn't look like Nathan Watts at all, because I'm 99% confident that it's Nathan Watts.
  8. Maybe not. But I was just pointing out that by 1988/89 house music and pop songs that were heavily influenced by it were anything but niche. Personally I'd love to see an 80s band doing S'Express, Yazz or Soul II Soul. There appears to be an assumption that 80s music is mostly synth-based pop from the first half of the decade, whereas the reality is, as I hinted in my first post, that there's a lot more to the decade. As someone who plays in an unashamedly 80s influenced originals bands, I'd be interested to know what's in the typical 80s covers band's set list.
  9. I'm not saying the mk1's sound bad, but I've had both and to my ears the US Barts are several levels better than the mk1's.
  10. You must eat your spinach! 😉
  11. All unused, top quality sets. Double ball ends but possibly can be used for shorter basses. 37” length. (I could use the outer strings on my standard scale bass but would rather sell as sets). * Newtone 5 string sets x 6: Diamond Bass, hex core, stainless steel, 46-130, length 37” (ball end to ball end) with tapered B. £25 each (discount for multi purchase) ( I also have a Hot Wires 5 string flat wound set…pm me)
  12. Gigged one the other day! Shame that they’re not getting as much use and love as deserved 😖
  13. Genuinely think this should be in a player’s tonal chain. Took out on a Jazz/Funk gig and it was smooth as butter!! Almost has me changing my mind…..just too much a luxury with the other stuff that I own and use!!
  14. *PRICE INCLUDES UK POSTAGE * Wicked pedal! Tracks beautifully. Only selling as I’m now using multi-effect unit. In great condition (I may even have original box…can’t find at the moment m). Does an octave below and/or above. Also has an independent boost effect. Blurb here: Octavius tri-tone generator has 4 controls LO OCT, HIGH OCT, MASTER MIX and BOOST. LO OCT knob lets you set the volume of the lower octave signal produced by the pedal. HIGH OCT knob controls the volume of the higher octave signal produced by the pedal. The balance between the levels of these 2 knobs is what creates your particular octave-divided sound. Experiment with your mix, and you’ll be amazed at the variety of effects you’ll get. MASTER MIX knob lets you set the overall volume of your low and high octaves compared to your direct signal. Use the BOOST knob to control the output of your octave-divided sound. The boost function lets you dial in a solo level, whether the overdrive circuit is activated or not.
  15. The player here uses eyeglasses, I think Freddy doesn't. Getty Images has some pictures from the show.
  16. If you add a second M58R cab you will find it’s awesome and full
  17. Please ignore someone selling locally that I’m getting
  18. There are lots of grey areas here but perhaps you've hit something key in talking about how you might "relate to" a song. All the ones you mention here are generally positive, feelgood songs and most people would be able to lose themselves in the moment (even if they were listening to the lyrics, which is perhaps questionable in itself) by having similar feelings of community, hope, nostalgia or whatever without having driven on the same road/lived in the same submersible/whatever. But if the song is born of something more negative (eg of racism, the politics of a certain area/era, past personal abuse etc) I think you have to be more careful in what feelings you allow yourself to indulge: you risk being anything from insensitive or crass all the way through to seeming to trivialize the original intent of the song. For me, I find dentists gurning through Chicago blues on PRS guitars a bit cringeworthy but hardly a hate crime, ditto John Power singing Redemption Song, albeit perhaps quite a bit more cringey. At the other end of the scale I think I would very much struggle listening to a privileged white youngster sing Strange Fruit or a current British political protestor (of whatever persuasion) sing Ohio. Which is not to say that I think you can only sing happy songs... but I think you can usually tell the difference between an attempt to share in some sort of cross-cultural community and a crass/cynical/tone-deaf attempt to channel someone else's experience.
  19. I read Keith Richards autobiography and was surprised by how the 'Stones never have been great mates. It's purely a working relationship.
  20. Meanwhile whilst we’re all distracted Musk and his cronies steal our future.
  21. That was a new one on me, but they are also called Surrey Amps.
  22. Another addition to the Blue Bass family. The Brooks SparkleBird. The pics don't do the colour justice. In real life it is much more teal/turquoise. This pic comes close. But still misses the vibrance of the colour
  23. Shout At The Devil - Mötley Crüe
  24. So Jewish singers can only sing Jewish songs? Maybe Jewish comedians can only tell Jewish jokes? This is getting very silly.
  25. Not a hope in hell of any of my 80’s band agreeing to do anything from that list. I don’t think any of our audience would expect it either.
  26. That's really quite restrained & conservative for a Wandre. I've never found any of their designs particularly appealing but live in hope that, wonky-looking & tacky as they are, one day one will turn up at the car boot for a tenner.
