  1. Past hour
  2. I bought a Squier VM fretless Jazz off a BCer (sorry, can't remember who!) about 15 years or so back - there was a nice headphone practice amp/FX thingy tucked in the case - which I promptly returned to them 'cos I'm nice like that. Years ago I picked up a bargain MIJ Squier Precision (late 80s A serial) locally, came with a folding stand & an awesome wide leather padded strap. The bass went off within a fortnight for many multiples of what I paid, the strap & stand still are still here & in constant use. Bought an old 335 copy once, inside the hard case was a really odd, almost home-made looking tremolo adaptor device, designed to replace the stop-bar. Obviously the guitar's long gone but I've still got the trem thingy in a drawer somewhere. Didn't know what to do with it then, still don't...
  3. Hi mate, I'm in Ealing so your side of London. Dimensions are as follow: W x H x D 594 x 662 x 426
  4. Apparently it's actually a Harley Benton, he just changed the headstock logo.
  5. Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
  6. As a bass player, I do have a weakness for their (bespoke??) PRS guitars though! (possibly because our guitarist plays one)
  7. Is this an advert for the headphones they are all wearing? (albeit there a small number of the orchestra with non-compliant ear gear!)
  8. It’s a shame that such high quality gear is so undervalued these days, I guess it’s the combination of fewer gigs, and a greater percentage of bassists that do gig either using PA or seemingly obsessed with lightweight gear that all too often simply doesn’t have it. Bass gear shouldn’t be heard, it should be felt, and that’s a combo that knows how to be felt. Anyone out there never tried a classic all-tube rig, now’s your chance to do it for a fraction of what it’s worth 👍
  9. Also…don’t mind a trade for a decent bass cab…???
  10. Deal sweetener (hopefully):* Includes decent gig bag!!!!*
  11. Continuing with his Bruceness. Pump It Up was an example of when Elvis and Bruce were at the top of their game. EC wrote the words while holding Subterranean Homesick Blues in his mind. He played the song to the band in a soundcheck with a very sparse two chord arrangement. Bruce said it need propulsion - this he provided in spades! years later he says he stole the bass lines from The Damned (Neat Neat Neat), The Everly Brothers (The Price Of Love), You've Got To Lose (Richard Hell and the Voidoids), You Really Got Me (The Kinks), and last but not least In The Mood (Glen Miller). Somehow he distilled that lot down into one of the most recognisable, powerful basslines of the era. Before he and Elvis fell out they were such a dynamic, creative force. Neither has, in my opinion, achieved the same heights without the other. So here it is, Pump It Up, my best attempt. I'm still new to this game so any constructive advice is always welcome. 12. Could possibly look at having it dropped off for fuel costs if anyone is really interested.
  13. Thanks @Frank Blank You had better add me to the list too I suppose. Brawley 5 string, Roland V-bass system, Ashdown ABM-300, maybe some interesting bits and pieces. Door code to let you lot all in the hall!
  14. Thats about the size of it. So the bass will not be significantly lighter than a standard Rick, which would have been one of the attactions to me. Lots of discussion in this thread: https://www.basschat.co.uk/topic/517825-new-rickenbacker-short-scale-the-4030s/

  16. here we go ...
  17. Having shared the top step in October with @Al Nico , I wanted to get November started with a weekend ahead of us , so I took the liberty of choosing a quick holiday snap . Its a 'fishing' village called Olhos de Agua on the Algarve , I say fishing, but its pretty much tourists, as the boats don't seem to move very often! Some lovely cliffs and beaches, oranges and lemons, and a billion hotels and apartment blocks. Have a listen to the following tracks and vote for your favourite 3 tracks and don't forget the December challenge is, by tradition, a cover challenge , so have a think on! 1 @Baloney Balderdash Dark secrets lure in the ocean for the foolhardy surfer, shattering the seemingly idyllic beach life, in this unsettling electro surf metal piece: 2 @Al Nico Time to launch the power boat and tear about skimming the waves (watching out for surfers not). 3 @Leonard Smalls I remembered how Portugal, back in the early 2000s decriminalised drug use... So I was reminded of classic US 50s scare-movie, Reefer Madness. Hence quotes from US 50s movies on the dangers of The Weed! 4 @Chiliwailer Mermaid Lament - the boats are abandoned on shore and the fisherman have gone. As the mermaids sing for their loss, sounds represent the waves carrying their lament to the beach, while the bass pounds steadily like the countdown of time ticking away.. 5 @upside downer A light and frothy tune with a Portuguese title that translates as Hate Everybody Immediately, ha, no, not really, it means Sleepy Village. I could imagine supping a cold beer in one of the beach huts and listening to this. Mind you, I could also sit in one of them listening to Wake Up by Rage Against the Machine, so what do I know? 6 Lurksalot the guy was out of luck fishing , sold up and spent his days trying to romance the holiday makers , or something like that 7 @Jean-Luc Pickguard This is the ritual of visiting the seaside as observed by a visitor from another planet. Thats your lot for this month, and a fine selection they are to. I reckon vote for your favourite 3 if you can whittle it down voting will end at midnight on 30/11 good luck and don't forget the December challenge is, by tradition, a cover challenge , so have a think on!
  18. Did you not see the infested P bass?
  19. This was my son’s first kit, it’s spent the last year disassembled at his mum’s house though and it’s time to move it on. Missing a foot but everything else seems to be there. Will supply with a spare drum head but stool not included. First photo is from when it was set up at my house a few years back, others all from today. Collection only due to size etc…
